Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s staff is starving, You think you’ve got problems? Try working on Capitol Hill! Paul Bedard reports: Two senior Democrats complained at a House Appropriations Committee hearing Tuesday that the combination of cuts over the past two years has robbed them of nearly 11 percent of their personal budgets, which average $1.3 million… The cuts have… affected the quality of life for congressional aides, said [Rep. Debbie] Wasserman Schultz, whose defense of Capitol Hill staffers amid budget cuts has won her unofficial den mother status among many. At the hearing, for example, she said prices of meals in House restaurants are getting so high that aides are being “priced out” of a good meal. And, she added, the cuts demanded by House leaders over the past three years have lessened the attractiveness of Hill jobs. “The more we rob Peter to pay Paul,” she said, “the tougher it is for us to compete not only with the private sector but with other federal agencies.” Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2013/03/22/debbie.../#ixzz2OMcvPx9Y

I took a pb&j sandwich some fruit and a Mac'n'cheese to work yesterday - I'm sure the staffers can figure out how to put some peanut butter and jelly on two pieces of bread

Don't worry Debbie. With the furloughs, I'm sure it won't be too difficult to compete with other federal agencies.
Man, this is insulting.

At a time when our moral standing in the world has been weakened by a rubber stamp Justice Department that placed the Bush Administration above the law, we now need someone who is objective and independent. And, make no mistake, Eric Holder is independent.

Wow. I would love to see these morons forced to live in the real world for a while.

I wonder how many of them wouldn't think twice about plopping down 6 bucks for a Starbucks coffee. Hell, I remember when water was free.

Here's a thought Deb,instead of 10 staffers maybe you could manage with only 8,you know budget your resources. Or better yet, once a week you could whip out your gold card and buy lunch for those "little people" that serve your JAP ass.
Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem

Generalize much?
I think this is a stupid complaint since the smart option is to pack your own lunch, but staffers are generally not rich kids, they're usually normal people earning a living, working 80+ hours per week in a lot of cases. A typical staffer gets paid around $40,000 and in DC, $40,000 is nothing. Just because it's a job you wouldn't do, it doesn't mean the people who do the jobs are evil. In fact, the vast majority of them are blue collar people who actually believe in trying to make a difference.
You seem to have serious issues with anyone who you may not agree with. I honestly picture you as a 12 year old petulant child who thinks his "leftbanger" line is the epitome of comic genius.

:saywJust to clarify: An 8-ounce bowl of Ham and Bean soup at the Cannon Office Building’s carry-out café costs $2. A gourmet wrap or sliced bread sandwich sells for about $5. And in the Longworth Building’s sit-down cafeteria, a serving of stuffed chicken, asparagus and mashed potatoes sells for about $7, Fox News finds.
Meanwhile, Ms. Wasserman Schultz’s staffers earn between $60,000 and $160,000 per year, Fox News reports.

How do they survive ......?
Better put them on a "free staffer lunch program" ... so they don't suffer from malnutrition.

And Debbie might want to pack her bags.
Imagine........millions of people in her "representative" area struggle to eat at all, and she's worried about her staffers having to spend $7 on stuffed chicken, asparagus, and mashed potatoes?
Seriously, when are the congress people going to wake up and realize life isn't about them? When are they going to be concerned about ME? When are they going to learn that they're sucking the life out of the taxpaying citizens?

The entry level folks do... and $40K, just so you know, is about the average entry level salary in the private sector in DC as well.. so they are getting paid about right...
And by my count, considering everybody who falls under the "Congressional Staff" banner.. we are talking about almost 5,500 people.. and the average salary is well above $40K... This does not include the Senate now, just congress.... 5,500 people.

I can solve this in about a 1/2 second. Let the congressmen and senators pay their staffers out of their pocket. Yes, you might have to raise the pay for our beloved congress, but if they have to pay staffers out of their pocket, I'm sure they will stop worrying about their meals. After that, you let the house approve the senate's pay raises, and vice versa. At least we know we will never see pay raises in a divided congress like we have now. I also think a congressman or senator should never have more than two terms in a row, as that breeds corruption.
I lived near that cesspool for about 5 years, and $40k wasn't crap up their 10 years ago. As I see it, if I was able to get by, they should be able to get by. I used to drive 1 1/2 hours to get to work every day, and I couldn't take the Metro as the Metro didn't service my work location. If you can't live on the pay, look for a different job. If there are no jobs, fire the damn government.
