Feel free to head back to Tribeville, it's just around the corner. We started this thread because the poor old tribe fans didn't want us invading their precious thread...you can show us the same courtesy.

I'm sure we've picked up a few Tribe fans from the 90's along the way, well the one's who didn't become Red Sox or Yankee fans. Winning does that.

(Sad face)

Sorry to offend. Just find it curious you post on a Cleveland-related sports board assuming immunity by simply starting a separate thread, but knock anyone that comments in a opposing manner.

This is like me talking about the Indians' season on a Steelers' board.

You're new here.

You don't think this topic has been beat to death already?

Next question is how can I be a Reds and Browns fan.

Reds and a Browns fan? Simply.....I have no clue. I can't.

Here in NW Ohio, there are a bunch of Browns and Tigers fans. It's always been that way. The Lions just never caught on, and it sucks because we're in their catchment area and it causes us to miss an occasional game.

My theory is that my dad was a fair weather fan who lived in Columbus and I've just naturally picked both from the get go and rooted for them both (Browns/Reds) through thick and thin. As far as baseball goes, the two teams aren't in the same division, so I just don't see why there should be any vitriol at all as opposed to a casual "bragging rights" of sorts. I beat an old Cleveland Indians hat to death for three years at work until my cat peed on it. I consider them my adopted second team.

I'm loyal. The old man's a front-running schmuck.

Baseball was the first sport I fell in love with and started watching/playing, born and raised in southwestern part of the state so the Reds were the first pro sports team I watched.

Dad is from Cleveland and raised me a Browns fan.

You couldn't possibly offend me. I find it curious that you think this is a Cleveland sports message board. It's a Browns board. Now, obviously, there are a large number of people from Cleveland who post here, so there is quite a bit of discussion regarding other sports teams from there, but there are a good number of us who don't live in Cleveland. I have a fondness for Cleveland because it houses my favorite football team, but if it weren't for going to Browns games there I would never visit the city, and I have no interest in the other sports teams there. So, your premise for being put off by this discussion on this particular board is rather odd. Also...nobody needs to justify their fandom to you. Please feel free to join the Tribe thread where I'm sure you'll be happier, or head for the smack shack if you need to cry about fans of other cities sports teams.

Now back to this thread:

Nothing wrong with jumping on a bandwagon, as long as that's the team you stick with.

I grew up on Kentucky basketball/football and Cleveland Browns football.

As for an MLB, NBA, NHL team, I was kind of on my own. Not something I grew up around.

I hopped on some bandwagons with the Red Sox, Cavs (in the Mark Price days, not the LeBron days), and Tampa Bay Lightning.

So, I have teams from all over the place, but I hopped on those teams for whatever reason, and I've stuck with them since, win or lose -- Even though I do joke about dropping the Cavs for hiring Mike Brown

It's odd that a trade works out really well for all teams involved, but the Choo trade really does appear to have the makings of one of those type of trades.

Stubbs has been very good for the Indians so far. He already has 6 triples and 2 HR on the year. He still strikes out, but is hitting at his highest average so far this year.

We also got Trevor Bauer. Love his arm. When he gains just a little more control, he's going to be a front of the rotation kind of guy.

Matt Aners is 1-0 with a 3.52 ERA so far, and Brian Shaw has been even better. with a 0.75 ERA and 15 K in 12 innings. Man has he been impressive.

You guys got Choo, and he is trying to make sure this trade is balanced out by himself. He's doing extremely well for you guys.

The Diamondbacks got Didi Gregorius, and all he's done is hit .407 before getting hurt. They also got Tony Sipp from the Indians, and he has gone 1-1 with a 3.0 ERA so far.

This sure looks like a win-win-win for everyone involved.

If Stubbs stays consistently that good, I'll be surprised. I hope he does, he's a good guy. It's still early on the pitchers, but glad they are looking good too.

Love Choo, really LOVE Choo. He makes that trade well worth it, in my opinion.

I like to see trades work out for all teams involved, it makes teams more willing to deal with your team in the future.

You just don't throw Stubbs fastballs, unless it's up and in, otherwise just throw him breaking ball after breaking ball. Once the pitchers in the AL realize this he's done.

Nice to sweep the Cubs this weekend although the Phillips-Choo collision was pretty scary. Honestly not sure why Phillips was playing that far out either.

BP can't help it, he'll go after anything that's within his range and that was a pretty high pop up giving him plenty of time to get under it.

Tough series coming up with the Braves and the Cardinals are streaking, have to keep winning.

That's the best unassisted double play I've seen.

Cingrani being pushed back in the rotation with shoulder soreness, I had hoped he was going to take Leake's spot when Cueto returns but it looks like it's not his time yet.

I expect him to be skipped.

just be happy Dusty is listening to him rather than pushing him through it.

also, reading lots of reports that Cueto looked good in his last rehab start (81 total pitches - touched 95mph) and is itching to get back into the rotation.

Monday can't get here soon enough, the rotation will finally be whole again.

Now if Cueto can just keep the lat/oblique healthy this time. If he hurts it again it's time to look at getting away from the twist he does during his wind up.

Edit - and Votto's back, he just hit another bomb today.

I dislike the Cubs, so I would love a back to back sweep!

I don't dislike them as much as the whiney Cardinals, but they are a close second.

Happy to see this team finally get on a bit of a roll. Hopefully Cueto can give us 6 solid innings and the team can get him the win.

ok, so we weren't quite ready yet

should be an interesting game today. i'm hoping that when Philips gets plunked (and it's coming --- Choo is too early in the lineup and Votto is too obvious) that it's on the backside and it's the end of this ordeal so we can just get back to playing baseball.

Hey, you all could easily take the next three. I don't trust the Reds one bit at this point. I was not looking forward to playing the Indians, way too hot of a hitting team for us at this point. The Reds just can't seem to click on all cylinders yet when it comes to hitting.

I agree, hit someone on the Reds and get it out of their system and move on. Despite all the observations from those who are SO sure he did it on purpose, I don't believe it. Why would he want to bring the tying run to the plate? That's idiocy. Those of us who watch Chapman know how wild he gets. I understand getting hot about one of your players almost getting hit in the head. I wouldn't like it either, but it doesn't mean it was on purpose. You have to look at the specific incident and what the motivation would be. There was no reason for him to do it and that's not the type of pitcher he is.

yeah, I stayed out of that discussion because I honestly don't care if it was on purpose or not. I hate the baseball getting thrown that close to his head, but we need to just focus on winning today's game and hitting people back-n-forth doesn't do it.

also, if Francona thought it was on purpose his butt should've been at homeplate directly after the throw.

-----------------

anyways, interesting matchup today. Latos has been struggling lately though he's got that BB issue seemingly under control. He's been way too hittable lately though and his ability to get SO's this year has gone way down from his norms.

on the Tribe side, we have McAllister who has been our most consistent starter this season, but whose peripheral numbers suggest he has been getting lucky with keeping his ERA down (ERA 2.89 / FIP 4.32). He has about the same SO:BB ration of Latos, but, unlike him, Zach is a flyball pitcher. So, he's got to keep it in that HR-happy ballpark of yours.

I've learned one thing...stay the hell out of the "Tribe" thread. Apparently you can't even talk baseball in it without being told to get out.

I know we disagreed yesterday about the Swisher at-bat and us pitching to Votto, but you or any Reds fans are welcome in the Tribe thread as far as I'm concerned. I don't run smack, so I'd like to think I can post in this thread too.

As you can see in the thread, Dave, there are plenty of Tribe and Reds fans having discussion in the thread with no problems. It's only when somebody comes in to start crap does anyone say anything. Everyone has always been welcome in here. Just ignore those that have to make up things just to have something to attack a person they don't like with.

Disagreements are good, attacking and smacking are not. Good natured banter and ribbing are also cool, although some folks can't take even that.
