Anybody else just a bit apathetic about this draft compared to others or is it just me?

I'm not sure what it is but I'm having a real hard time getting excited about this draft

Not me..it's not the star-stud draft but it's still the draft.

What we have is a deep draft for numerous positions but they're more clumped together than seperated by talent.

New regime..controversisal people(Mr.Lighting Rod)..their butts are on the line..so I'm anxious to see their brain skills in building this team.

I'm always excited about the draft. This draft in particular, while not top heavy with extraordinary talent, is deep with talent in our particular areas of need, DE/OLB, S & CB and there's a guard in there somewhere for us as well, and possibly a developmental QB. We have just enough picks to get one of everything, including a kicker. Yup, I'm excited.

Didn't really read other posts.

But quite frankly the only disappointment I have is that we don't have a 2nd round pick.

Apathy due to our history in the draft. Sorry I don't look back unless it is to learn not judge the present.

I see a FIRST TIME BUILD THROUGH THE DRAFT coming to fruition finally, something that should have been done with the Multiple picks given to us as an expansion team 1999 n 2000. We have struggled trying to catch up ever since. Never succeeding to build a foundation from the draft.

We are in year 4 of a 5 year process. 2010, 2011, 2012 and now 2013 adding a final 2014. This core of young players from the draft process as well as UDFA (the 8th round of the draft) amassed from 5 years will define our team.

This is the first time we ever did this. The new regime has not gotten rid of any of the 36 players from this process that was on our roster except for I think Colt McCoy being the only one??? THIRTY-SIX!!! (going on memory I could be off the exact # but if off its very close).

Personally I am very excited about this 2013 draft...wish we had more picks especially a drop back for that 2nd rounder we are missing!

Not knowing for sure about the duo Banner/Lombardi I'm also very nervous as a fan who is not allowed in that War Room to be heard

Apathy??? Nah, I understand the dis-belief as we are getting close to being a relative organization in the NFL. I've studied this...its not Homerism. Once a team is built from the draft - then the objective changes. To Improve/Upgrade n manage the Cap w/new contracts n new Prospects to fill the voids. Get key FA's that actually will make a difference. Like Reggie White with the Packers. Brees with the Saints.

What I see is all the relevant teams - young ones old ones - 49ers, Seahawks, Giants, Packers, Ravens, Steelers, Pats...you know all the teams who won Championships n those young ones ready to compete. ALL BUILT THEIR DRAFTED FOUNDATION FIRST! Something we are 60% into it...after 2013 we will be 80% done and should finally see some results in our Foundation...only thing that could hold us back a bit is the transition at this time with a new O n D. As in seeing results.

But as a fan...I am excited. As mentioned my only downer is only 2 picks in the top 100??? Also be prepared if we don't move back (takes two to tango) when the TALKING HEADS, DRAFT NICKS n BOZOS grade out draft it will be a poor grade due to the lack of PICKS. I'm sure we will have dawgs running around yelling the sky is falling after that happens... lol

As always JMHO...we are almost there Dawgs

Actually, at this point I like the potential that Gordon has. I will still continue to worry a bit until he makes it through this coming season clean, and working hard to improve. I do think that he could become an All Pro type if he really applies himself.

DJ ...... I think that we can agree that a huge part of the equation for this year will be the play of Brandon Weeden. If he plays well, then the team will show improvement. If he plays poorly, then we'll have another 3-6 win season.

Quite frankly, I like the defensive front 7 that we have in place at present. I wouldn;t mind adding one more pass rusher, and I certainly and absolutely want another CB in the draft. It would not surprise me at all if Horton likes one of the young FS on the roster, and that's why we didn't pursue a veteran there.

This team is now on that ledge ...... where players can either take that next big step forward, (Like Little seemed to do last year) or regress and fade away. We have a ton of young guys with talent ...... who also have question marks.

One other thing. As far as a guy like McClain ...... maybe he looked at the teams out there, and saw the Ravens with a screaming black hole at his position, and decided that they were his best chance at a starting job.It takes a player and a team to make a signing.

I'm still interested, but back when it started on Saturday was when it was the most fun. I used to look forward to that day, armed with my laptop and my PFW Draft Guide, not to mention some beverages and snacks. Now, in primetime, on a work night - not as much fun.

This and the lack of big names this year kind of kills it for me. I used to spend every draft Saturday at my friends house and we'd play madden on one TV and have the draft going on another. Now it a work night and I just sit at home.

Exactly, but I'd include TRich, Gordon, Little, Cameron, Schwartz, Taylor, Sheard etc you get the drift...this season we will lean on guys drafted by Heckert mostly...if we stay put in FA and draft we can only expect 3-4 starters from THIS FO. TRich and Weeden selection were make or break selections by Heckert....if they both fail, he deserved to be fired, as much as I like the guy. But I can already see the "black-white" record posters give all the credit to Banner, when we win 7+, but the truth will be that it'll be with Heckert's players and cap money...hell, we should have won 7-8 games LAST season, but were too green to finish off some of those...oh well, we will see...
