The Browns will open the 2007 preseason with home games against Kansas City and Detroit, then play their final two preseason contests at Denver and 2006 NFC Champion Chicago.
Exact dates and times will be announced at a later date. The Chiefs will visit on the first weekend of the preseason (Aug. 9-13) and the annual Great Lakes Classic game with the Lions will be played the following weekend, between Aug. 16-20.
The third preseason game -- traditionally the one that gives the regular starters the most action -- will take place in Denver on the weekend of Aug. 23-27, with the preseason finale coming at Chicago on either Thurs. Aug. 30 or Fri. Sept. 1.
The Bears return the core of their Super Bowl team and have one of the league's best defenses. The Broncos have high hopes for quarterback Jay Cutler's second season and return Pro Bowl defensive backs Champ Bailey and John Lynch to anchor a veteran defense.
The Chiefs' last visit to Cleveland Browns Stadium was a wild one -- the Browns won a 31-28 overtime decision last December. Barring any trades, the Browns-Lions game will feature the second and third overall picks in the 2007 NFL Draft.
2007 will mark the fourth straight year the Browns have closed the preseason against the Bears and the fifth straight season the Browns and Lions have played in the preseason. The Browns have won two of three from the Bears and three straight against the Lions.
The Browns haven't played Denver in the preseason since 1983. This year's preseason game will mark the Browns' second visit to the Broncos' new stadium, Invesco Field. The Broncos won a 23-20 overtime game in the Browns' first visit in December 2003.
