Being a Michigan fan in Columbus conditions you over time to hate Ohio State with a type of hate that doesn't far differ from those between the Shiite's and the Sunni's (sp?) That being said.....I really get a kick from rubbing defeat in Buckeyes fans faces whenever the chance rises. So on with the thread: Bottom line. There have been 2 National Championships 3 months apart in the only 2 major money making sports on a collegiate level. And "The" Ohio State Buckeyes just lost BOTH of them to the Florida Gators. Football is more important. Agreed. But let's not take away from how big of a moment this is. Ohio State will always be remembered as the team who let Florida pull off the Double Dip. Ohio State, Florida just slept with your daughter. And your wife.

This comming from a fan of Michigan..who for the last 5 years has been sniffing the behinds of all the Buckeyes in..well..every sport! You sound like MadWoman when he comes in to brag about the two LOSSES his Bungles have had in the Bowl. It's pretty sad when your only happiness in life comes when the team/school you trash talk about is still far superior in everyway than that team/school up north.

I'm not gonna go into specific numbers or anything because that's pointless, but we all know that Michigan football leads Ohio State in the all time series. In all time record vs all teams. In national championships. In big ten championships. The only considerable stats you beat us in are all-americans and heisman trophy winners. And those are individual stats so who cares. You guys are way behind. You're catching up. And you've had a few good years. So what. This isn't even about Michigan anyways. It's about Ohio State choking twice in two championships in the same year. That's embarassing. And you're right. I do get pleasure out of watching you guys fail. Because 80% of Buckeye fans are homers. And living in Columbus I have to hear all the nonsense you Buckeye fans spew around. I know not all of you are homers. And those fans I don't a problem with. It's the fans that make the visiting team's fans fear for their safety when they come to Columbus because they're a bunch of drunk A-holes and can't behave like civilized individuals. And those are the people I enjoy rubbing things like this in their face. So...aside from you guys thinking you're better then Michigan, which you're not (and we're not any better than you) the big story this week is Ohio State choking again to the Gators. And that's flat out undeniable.

He's probably refering to pre 1936. Before that there wasn't an AP Poll and there were many years where teams claimed to be national champions. Michigan claims to have 11 and Notre Dame claim to have 17 and so on. But in the 1970's Sports Illustrated did research about the pre-Poll era champions. They talked to a lot of sports writers and historians and they came up with who THEY felt would have been the true National Champion for each year. They felt Michigan would have won 4 of them giving them a total of 7 tied with OSU. Since the National Title game started to have a Poll system in 1936 OSU has won 7 Michigan has won 3.

So what? Ohio State's been banging Michigan's Mom for years now. You're hating on us for losing two national championship games to Florida this year? There's over a 100 teams in football and 300 in basketball, including your Wolverines, that wish they were playing in a national championship game. Bottom line is you're jealous of OSU's success.
Anyways, how did Michigan do in the Not Invited Tournament?

I dislike both OSU and Michigan. I went to Toledo and got so sick and tired of being the battle ground for you dorks.
As far as I'm concerned, Michigan should shut up. They got NOTHING to smack talk about. It's like Browns fans talking smack to Baltimore fans....they beat us, won the division and then flamed out in the playoffs. It's not that we can't enjoy their flame out....we have no right to talk to the about it. Until we beat them, we should be carrying their jocks. As Browns fans, we should be sitting in the corner and not saying a word (of smack).
All OSU fans need to say is this:
OSU FBall = Big Ten Champs, beat UM, & played in BCS title game OSU BBall = Big Ten Champs, beat UM, & played in the title game
“...Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!”

The hatin' just means that there's something to hate (aka a successful program).

let's see... OSU loses in the national championship game... UM loses in the first game of the NIT tourney And in terms of football... just keep Carr there in Ann Arbor and we'll catch up pretty damn fast...

Agreed. There is success. That's why I'm hating. I'm not arguing this.
You point out Carr like that's a surprise to me. I've been saying he needs canned for 4 years. This is his last. He's out. There's a power struggle for him leaving. Carr wants to appoint his successor. Some of the brass for UM want to go out and hire a big name coach. I don't care which of those two happens. As long as Carr is out. He's way past his prime and is to Jim Tressel what John Cooper was to him. Now we have to go out and find our Tressel. And that's our challenge. I got all that. You guys aren't telling me anything I don't know. Michigan has chumped it up lately. Basektball. A joke. Football. When was the last time you saw a pre-season top 10 ranked Michigan team live up to expectations? Probably in 97. Last year. Maybe you could argue that. I wouldn't after that bowl game. Next year we're returning our entire offense and all we have to do is plug a few holes on defense. Albeit they are big holes. We're probably the favorite to win the Big Ten. Will we? Who knows. I'd say there's just as good of a chance as us choking as there is of us going to the National Championship. You guys keep talking about Michigan. Michigan this. Michigan that. We Michigan fans know the embarassment of our program these past few years. We hope it changes.
But nowhere in this entire thread have I heard an OSU fan say "Man. We had 2 chances to get a National Championship. And we blew them." Cause that's what you did. You blew them. And to say anything to try and clean that up like "So what? Michigan wasn't there." or "Florida was the favorite in basketball" (but they weren't in football) is homerism at it's finest. You guys choked. If not in basketball then in football. The college sports story around the nation is not going to be "Ohio State losses two National Championships, but at least they got there. Michigan didn't." It's going to be "Ohio State gets beat for two National Championships by the same team in the same year." And NOBODY around the country is going to care EXCEPT Ohio State fans. And that's my point. You guys got embarassed. Regardless. Not that Michigan is as good as you. So don't mis-construe my posts to try to make it sound like I'm talking trash that we were as good as you this year. I'm admitting we were not. But you were not as good as Florida.

Glad we're in agreement...
and thanks for the update on Carr... honestly I was wondering why he was still there after last season... the guy is a good coach, but with losing to OSU and the Bowls you just can't stay HC for too long

Well here you go - Football championship... we blew it... UF had a great team, but I still believe that if we play them 10 times we win 9... but on that night we didn't show up... they did...
on the basketball championship I think we lost to the better team... but we def had our chances. Personally I think if Conley doesn't get two quick fouls that we would have won. I think those two just took him out of the game a bit and without him we don't run our outside game. I'm not sure why we didn't get as many foul shots early (perhaps our little men didn't drive enough) and we def couldn't get going on the outside... we played a good game, but needed a great one to beat UF.
Honestly I was TICKED after the football game because our team didn't come to play at all... after this game I was ok... I wasn't happy, but I knew that it would have to take a very good game for us to win and we just didn't have it.
Quote:
You guys got embarassed.
In the football championship yes we did... no question... you guys got pretty embarassed yourselves though
In basketball I don't think we were embarassed at all.. we played a strong second half... made some good runs... but UF just knew how to take our momentum with some key 3-pointers... it was clear that they were the experienced team and played like one.
Quote:
But you were not as good as Florida.
Well no ... glad that UM edcuation is working out for you...
I personally still think our football team was better and just got over-confident or what have you and got embarassed on the 8th... but that's just my opinion... with basketball UF is clearly the better team...

LMAO! There are just as many a-holes in Ann Arbor as Columbus. I grew up in Toledo and have been to the Big House many times in OSU garb - they treat fans just as bad there as Michigan fans get treated in Columbus. I don't condone it in Columbus or up there, but you are living in a dream world if you think Michigan doesn't have it's share of jerk fans too.
I also attended the b-ball game in Ann Arbor this year and the fans were equally rude as I had found at football games; not as bad, cause there isn't as much liquor involved at b-ball games, but still pretty bad. We were in a section with about 80 Buckeye fans, so safety in numbers . I might have been pushing my luck thought wearing my "Even God Hates Michigan" shirt, but oh well

Thank you Jay. And I do agree with you that basketball wasn't embarassing. I'll let you in on a little secret. I was rooting for you guys in basketball. I couldn't help myself but like your team. I don't know how you can't like Oden. And like you said your football team would win 9 times out of 10, I think your basketball team would win 6 or 7 out of 10. You guys didn't hit shots and you were still in the game. If you did hit shots you win the game. Also good observation on Conley. He had that offense moving along cutting into the lane and dishing the rock. Those fouls on him early did hurt.
ColumbusDawg:
There probably are as many A-holes in Ann Arbor. I just think we don't take it to the extreme like you guys do.

Have you lived in Michigan? just wondering cuz you seem very confident with your answer....
FYI- if you talk trash in columbus about the buckeyes how can you NOT expect someone to be n A-HOLE to you?

I'd rather lose to my rival, not win the Big 10 Championship, and not compete for a ritle but instead get whooped in Rose Bowl than lose to the same school twice in the championship game of basketball and football. How does this make sense?

With Conley that was the only reason why I could think of why he played so poorly (especially early on). Who knows... I dunno if we win 6 or 7 out of 10... but I agree that if we hit our outside shots (just make or yearly average) then we win... Still not sure why we didn't... dunno if it was nerves or what but it was a good game... and with both Conley and Oden I agree it's tough not to like them.
and even though I was WICKED excited that we swept ya'll this year I did hope you would make it back to the NCAA tourney... ok after saying that I think i need a shower or something....

The thing that people forget is that the program put together 2 TEAMS THAT MADE IT TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE SAME YEAR.
I really don't think I need to say more than that. How could you argue it? Sure, we lost, but we were better than hundreds of other teams, including Michigan.

I know. But my job as a Michigan fan is to get you riled up. I think I accomplished that.
I mean if you live in Columbus or anywhere 50 miles within you know how much ANYONE who lives in Columbus has to hear about Ohio State's football team. It's crazy. Nowhere else is like it. And being a Michigan fan it's terrible. I have to hear about you guys winning National Championships and Big Ten titles and beating Michigan. And it's because you guys are so good that I hate you. And talking trash about another team beating you is what I have to resort to in these times of hardship. Do you think if Michigan was beating you all the time like they were when Cooper was there that I'd be on here talking trash about Florida sweeping you guys. No. Because we'd be beating you and that'd be Michigan getting sweeped and you making fun of us. And as a Buckeye fan it would appease some of your anger at losing to us by making fun of us for losing 2 National Championships to the same team if that were the case. And as a Michigan fan it does the same.
