Oh geez GM...I said it wasn't what I was looking for.... But hey...it is still more than I have seen concerning the receivers running the wrong routes....Seriously...I would like to see the articles...because I really haven't heard anything about it except for here...

There were more than a couple of articles about it. I can't give you links or anything, but I think the article about Joe J. talked about it. I believe it was Joe who brought it up. Another article I remember was the one in which the main point was Romeo talking about Leon, and how he could become a good teammate somewhere down the line.
I have a much better source....myself. I know you aren't one of those goofballs that will question me about it, so here goes. The team held a player's only meeting and they watched the tape. Between them, Leon and K2 ran the wrong route on 19 plays. That's an incredible! Do you realize how high that percentage is?
In that meeting, K2 was more contrite, but Leon blew everyone off. Some of the things he said...well, I can't say on this board. He lost almost everyone on the team that day and the team pretty much went downhill after that. Many different factions on the team w/a lot of finger pointing and playing the blame game.
Anyway......back to the point. Leon really struggled w/his route running all year. He sometimes even lined up in the wrong spot. He was like McGahee in Buffalo. He rounded his routes. He didn't fight for inside position. He often ran the wrong route. K2 also ran the wrong route quite a bit.
Now Pete.........consider the fact that Leon and K2 were Charlie's top receivers. The offensive line was horrible and the running game was nonexistant. In addition, Charlie was at a point in his career where he was still VERY inexperienced. How much success could anyone expect?
Once again, I am not sold on Frye. He has some limitations, but he has some strong points. I think it is too early to make a final determination on him. I'll be watching closely this year. It was towards the end of Timid's third year that I was able to make a determination. I will let you know what I really think about him sometime this coming season.
In the meantime, I just wish people would play fair. *L* like that will happen.

Vers, for whatever reason, I know that had I written the exact same thing,, I'd get flamed to no end.. No wait, in various posts,,, I HAVE written the same thing Oh Yeah, and I did get flamed! You probably will also.... But now you see why I get so dang ticked off when some of the people on here say stuff like that.. Some of these guys know better but because they have this hatrid for Charlie, they make stuff up.. Then go on to site example after example of why it's the truth... Then you examine the examples,,, and you find, they are nothing more than PERCEPTION issues.. Examples: Action; Ball flutters coming out of charlies hand Comment: Charlie throws wounded ducks Actual: Charlie got hit as he threw the ball And it goes on and on like that! Oh, if you bring up that Charlie was hit while throwing,,,,suddenly, you are a Charlie Hugger and your making excuses for him.. And people wonder why I get ticked off when they make STUPID comments that are based in bias,, NOT IN FACT! AND how can ANYONE on the planet tell me that CHARLIE is a finished product? And say it with a straight face? Whatever you do in life, when you started out,, is that all better you got at it? It's a stupid comment!

Thanks for the info...I mean, like I said, I just never saw the articles myself....I agree completely that 19 plays in a single game is outrageous. That is usually over half of the passing attempts...especially as long as our O is on the field...
I still have no confidence in Charlie....he hasn't given me any reason to...I love his intangibles...but I still feel as I have before we even drafted him that they are not enough to overcome his skillset. And he has done nothing to change that perception.....Charlie Frye is a tease...I said that 2 years ago...he will always make you want to give him 1 more chance (because he is such a great kid, hard worker, and team player)....but before you know it we will be 4 years in and we still won't have a QB....Some people will call me biased....I think that is a crock....I have been consistant in my opinions and what I look for...and frankly, more people have been switching their tunes on Charlie...and it hasn't been to the side of support.
If Charlie is starting in Sept...we can start our search for our next Head Coach....

Consistently bias? Just having fun with you Pete,,, that just struck me as funny is all!

I don't know how true that is, but there isn't any good way to verify it either way. I tend to think that we were pretty much split down the middle when we drafted him and I don't think it's changed much since..
Except in the Media! They hate or love on players for reasons that have nothing to do with ability,, For them it's all about stirring the pot to get attention... and yeah, there have been a ton of comments in the press about the Browns needing a new QB! So that in turn fuels public opinion on charlie amoung the casual fan..
I'd be way more likely to believe something you wrote than what Tony Grossi wrote in the Plain Dealer... you have knowledge and no axe to grind,,, Tony is an idiot and proves it every week (is it ok to call a reporter and idiot,,I know it's name calling, but he's not here so is it ok )

Frankly Daman it is just as infuriating to see people completely make things up because they have this "love affair" with Charlie. I get ticked off as well when I am constantly accused of "hating". My god, you especially, make up the most insane excuses for the kid. You make it seem like Charlie had less than a second to make up his mind where to throw it because the Oline was sooooooo bad....
Well I have news for you...I started keeping track of the time Charlie had to play on every single pass. I have the first several games completed. Because I was curious...It started as a study on the Oline and grew a little from there. Do you know what I found???? Romeo was quoted during the season that they would like the QB to get the ball out in three seconds. And that they were working heavily on that....Well guess what what I found is that the OLine averaged more than 3 seconds and sometimes 4...Charlie was at his best when he did get the ball out in 3. unfortunately for us..that didn't happen enough. I had more stats like time of first pressure, time thrown, time sacked, differential from first pressure to sack, result of play, was the ball on target and more....(I had no life...LOL)...I shared my results with others...and if I can grab them, I will gladly share them with you...But I figured I would be construed as a "HATER". the fact remains that i have been fair and cosistant in my evaluations of Charlie and I do everything i can to judge him soley on the things he can contol...but yet....I am a "hater"

Yawnnn..I see the huffin/puffing since I left..lol..
People think everyone hates Frye..not true... It's what I saw that shows me several things..one ..he still lacks the skills that will make him a future starter that takes this team to the playoffs..I could be wrong but I doubt it.. If you have to keep questioning whether the kid really has it , what does that tell you?
Damanshot I'm going to say this to you once more..it seems you're allowing yourself to get bent out of shape..when I talk about Frye..I talk about the things I see in him UNRELATED to his supporting cast.. When he plays there are things that happen that we've all talked about..wrong route running, Oline letting people through like a midnite maddness sale...etc.. But when you look at any QB , you should be able to evaluate them off of the things that don't cloud the issue.. Is he accurate(even if the WR doesn't catch the ball)? Vers seems to exaggerate that by inserting it that I or anyone else is saying HE ALWAYS THROWS BEHIND.. Heh..I never said ALWAYS..I said he is not very accurate on timing throws..and what I SEE is that when he isn't ..the ball is thrown late , thus causing the WR to reach back..or it allows a defender to jump the route.. Can he really read defenses well enough? Is he improving on that? Well bottom line is if a new QB is drafted I know what that means..

Does anyone else think that maybe this is why CF was holding the ball too long? If your QB doesn't know where his recievers are going, he sure can't hit a spot.
JJ came alive at the end of the season. Maybe DA knew that Joe was the only one he could trust to be where he was supposed too.
Learn the playbook guys. It might actually make this O better.

I don't totally disagree with you or anything, and I don't think you're wrong really.
I just think that we should give Charlie another season. I know you say that Romeo will have to look for another job if Charlie is starting next season, but if that's the case, I think he'll have to look for another job if someone like Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell starts behind center too.
I think he deserves another chance...not only that, but I don't think it will help us get better if either of the two high draft pick QB's are starting for us either.
Besides, if we want to turn this offense around, I think we should start with the running game first. Form a bona fide line, let it gel and open up holes, and then if Charlie's bringing down the ship next season, then we should go for a QB.

Lots of truths and great points... Lots of excuses too... We have all seen the same out comes to the same games since 1999… The Browns suck and losing a very high percentage of their games… Several things are still happening... Why is still beyond all reason and belief...? The Browns have not built even and average O-Line. This is totally unacceptable. The Browns don't have a viable NFL quality starting QB. Inconceivable. There is not offensive identity. Idiocy. The starting RB is on the south side of his career. Better than we had but why? We have high round, first day WR's and TE that aren't producing and on the field consistently. Not acceptable. We have had no proven successful O-cords, too many systems and coaching personnel changes. The ownership has changed 3 times since 1999. Serious philosophy, leadership, stability and patience issues. Way too much change and instability. And let’s not started on our sieve of a defense. The front seven is nearly a total joke to a man. We have a young stud OLB, another good MLB and safety. The rest you could flush and not miss them... Then there are all the horrible drafts and FA decisions that have been made since 1999. The Browns have been mismanaged since day one. They are where they are for obvious reasons. Charlie is not going to change this all by himself. No other QB that has played for the Browns since 1999 did or could. Charlie is not talented enough to take this team where we all want it to go. I'm not sure any QB is. IMO from what I've seen of CF he is not the answer. Is that a fair statement based upon his situation? Mostly no. But yes, for many reasons. The team is crap and has been since 1999. If you look back over the past 5 years many of us have been having these same conversations year in and year out... We can't blame this all on any one player, coach, FO staffer or owner... It’s been a combination of all that has happened. Every decision made effects us all in some way. We may never know what could have been with many or most of the Browns players that have come and gone since 1999... Many have left and gone off into the sunset... Many have gone on and had outstanding success with other teams. The facts remain... The Browns can't stop the run. The Browns can't run the ball. The Browns can't protect the QB. The Browns don't have a NFL quality starting QB right now. The Browns don't have enough talent and depth to attain an average NFL team status. The Browns are one of the 5 worst teams in the NFL and have been for several years. Look at the wins and losses. People, teams, organizations make their own luck. The time for complaining, impatience, finger pointing is over. We has fans must realized at some point the Browns are were they are. We must continue to be realists, optimists ,show love, and have passion, patience and pride. If we don't nobody will... Just a few thoughts.

Pete, Some people just post to hear themselves type... I see what you mean like many others on here... I wasn't high on the kid when we drafted him but he is a Brown.. I wanted him to succeed then and I still do now... Like you, Attack, Mourg, Toad and a handfull of others, I am also a realist and see the writing on the wall... Truly I wish that I were wrong but I find myself trusting my own eyes over what people with high post counts on a message board try to spin into reality... Maybe I should just concede defeat by blaming every single woe on this team since 1999 on the O-Line and just go back to the corner and color...

Like to hear myself type or not,, High post count or not,, we have, since 1999 seen 9 different starting QBs for the Browns..(I don't think I missed anyone, Detmer, Couch, Wynn, Holcomb, Garcia, Dilfer, Frye, Anderson and somewhere in there, McGown)
None of them had success here thus it must be them and not something else right? (some had it before and at least one since he was a brown)
Most every one of them was bashed by people around here so excuse me for not following the herd on that subject..
I go by what I see also,, and I saw lots of problems,, not all of them belonging to the QB... Any and all of those mentioned above weren't all bums as some on here would have you believe..
All I know is that if we keep turning over QB's without giving them the tools, we will NEVER find one that gets the job done..
The defination of INSANE is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result!

Setting the main topic of discussion aside, of all the QB's we've had since '99, only ONE was actually a real starting QB. That's Garcia. The thing is we screwed him over by telling him we'd bring in the WCO.........then didn't. He went on to Philly where he was his same old pro-bowl self.
The rest?
Bums.

I think we should focus less on our QB and more on our running game...
I'd feel a lot less concerned about Charlie with a bona fide ground attack.

This is nothing new with the Browns receivers, as this team has been plagued with lack of concentration both in catching the ball as well as route running
http://browns.scout.com/2/568869.html
Quote:
4) There was a play in the third period Sunday when the Ravens' Chris McAlister intercepted an Anderson pass intended for Braylon Edwards. Here are three versions of that play. Anderson: "I'm throwing it to a spot, let him go get it. The corner jumped in front of it. It's an anticipation route. It's got to be on the numbers.'' Edwards: "Chris McAlister was waiting for that ... He was waiting for that all day, especially after the post route we caught for a touchdown. As soon as I stick my foot in the ground, he bit hard on it. DA put it in the spot and (McAlister) was already in the spot.'' Romeo Crennel: "The second interception was a pretty good throw and the receiver should have been inside a little more. The defensive back beat him to the ball.'' Who was responsible? Bernie Kosar once informed me that a quarterback's job is to throw to a spot, that there's too much chaos to sit and think or look around. He has to drop, plant, read and throw to the spot. The receiver's job, Kosar said, is to win, and get to that spot. In this case, Edwards not only didn't win, he didn't try to get to the spot to break up the pass. Result: McAlister made a good play, but the Browns had a turnover they maybe could have avoided.
5) Two plays prior, Anderson saw his streak of 13 completions in a row end when he threw to just about the same spot and Edwards was not there. Edwards made an out move; Anderson threw inside, where he thought Edwards would be. Crennel didn't say it was that specific play, but he described one play this way: "I know one time the receiver made an outside fake and then came back inside and the ball was already there.'' As Kosar might say, there's no time for outside fakes; the receiver's job is to win and be where he's supposed to be.
6) Edwards also said that the Browns had to burn timeouts on offense because plays were not getting to Anderson on time. He said there was something wrong with Anderson's earpiece. Crennel was asked if that happened: "He never complained to me about not being able to hear the call,'' Crennel said. As for the timeouts burned, Crennel said: "I think the plays were going in on time. There were one or two times where guys might not have lined up correctly and then we had to get them back to where we wanted them. That became a problem.''
7) If this is picking on Edwards, so be it, but football is a precise game. Teams practice continually so players know the plays and know where to be and are where they are supposed to be. Small mistakes lead to big problems, and it's evident that Edwards' attention to detail was missing at times in Baltimore. He came through with some plays, yes, but imagine how good a game he could have had -- and the team could have had -- had he paid attention to detail for the entire game.
8) Here's another example of precision and youth making errors. The Browns ran a screen pass to Lawrence Vickers in the first half. Cosey Coleman cut underneath Vickers and blocked his man outside. For some reason, Vickers chose to run outside -- right into the tackler. Instead of following his block to a decent gain, Vickers and the Browns got next to nothing.

I'm sure I can find much more if I had the time. I don't right now but this gives a little taste of what Vers is saying.

Interesting to look back on some things.. This guys says that Shaffer isn't the problem but Druzzi was... Lots of folks on here said the same thing...perhaps it's true,,, If so, the fix is in with Stienbach now slated to play LG... Then he goes on to say that Harrison is being viewed as someone who could take over,,, well,, remember, this was back in late 2006 and it just didn't take place.. gotta wonder where the writer got his info? Then he goes on to say that Frye would be fine if they could protect him,, We've heard about the Shaffer and Druzzi thing,, so there might be some truth to that,, the Harrison thing,, I just think he was blowing smoke.. He was right about change,, just not the way he said it would be,, we dumped Droughns and picked up Lewis.. As for Frye, I hope he's right about that. I've made a lot of people on this board think I'm nuts or blind,,, or they just flat out hate me for feeling as I do.. SO yeah, I hope he's right We'll see!

There isn't (read: shouldn't) be a question as to whether or not Edwards had issues with route running. He did. Having said that, it's fair to judge Frye based on when all the factors in a play were as they should have been.
The knock on him is oddly the same as it was for Couch, which is that he can be accurate on short throws, but get him on longer throws, especially those outside the hashmarks, and he loses his target.
Now for those that want to point at his completion percentage as proof that he's accurate, hey, Couch had a 60% as well, and he wasn't accurate. Any QB in this league can get to 60% if he throws short enough passes.
If people want to hang their hat on potential (albeit limited) upside, fine, but call Frye what he is: A below-average QB. Savage better have a plan-B, and it better not be Anderson, because even though Frye hasn't had as much time to throw as most QB's in the league, when he did have time, he showed little improvement.

The purpose of my post wasn't to defend or justify Frye's play. Vers made a comment without a source so I decided to back him up with a couple of snipets before he got hammered. I'm not willing to give up on Frye yet. He will never be a top notch QB in my mind but I'm willing to give him a chance to see if he can win. The only way we will know is to protect him in the pocket, give him a somewhat consistant running game and allowing him to audible out of bad plays. If he can't hack it I'm sure we will be in position to pick a franchise QB next year. That being said, I still would like to pick up Carr to compete against him.

well i certainly agree, but it looks like the only ones that can really judge frye are the coaches...seeing as how they are the only ones with game tape, playbooks, and knowing the play called....
how anyone can really judge anyone is beyond me..there isn't a perfect player on the team....take your pick they all make mistakes, and screw up at any given time...
receivers and qb's go hand in hand...unless you know one is doing the right thing, then you can't judge the other....
for example....if a reciever rounds off a route, and gets the the spot too soon, isn't the ball gonna be behind him? you bet it is...
many will say, the qb threw it behind the reciever, when the reciever was really at fault....the exact opposite is true also, where the qb can screw up and the reciever is doing it right....
our big problem....and its really our only problem is lack of stablility in coaches, and schemes....let them bring in players and upgrade as necessary, and eventually we'll start to win games....these guys need to develop timing...who the heck was last qb/receiver combo that we had that had a chance to do just that? my guess is couch and kj....
all this finger pointing at one player is a big downer....
Attitude is everything....FEAR THE ELF!!!

Ahhh, Charlie will be fine when he leads us to the superbowl!!! Improve the line, improve the RB, improve the WR and we're THERE!!!!!!! Really folks we get way to involved rating our players. Charlie is good or he wouldn't be in Brown and Orange. Give him some time. I mean as far as I can tell I'm the only one who seems to think we can be good this coming year. What do you guys who say we totally suck care if Charlie is or isnt' the QB? A rookie QB will not win any more games than Charlie has or will. I say keep improving our overall talent level, let current players develop, and show some patience. I know that's hard.......we've all been fans for a while. Just drink the coolaid already. I'm having a GREAT day believing we're good.

Well I for one hope your right about that... But Good is a relative term,, means different things to different people,, Good to me would be a .500 season,,,, others think that nothing short of a Superbowl win is good,,,

Lets just pretend that the Browns draft a Jamarcus Russell on Draft Day and the Browns decide to trade Charlie Frye..how many teams would be seriously intrested in trading for Frye?

just about anybody who needs a good backup. I am wondering if the browns would trade him if they draft a QB, he's a good team guy, and could win if the starter goes down
We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

This is an article I wrote on another site. Pete, I'm just curious if in your timing you noticed the following. - before you read it - one more question. OF those 4 seconds you timed - how many were due to his scrambling? You seem to be a Frye detractor - let me know if your perception changes at all. Quote:
Everyone is tired of arguing about Frye, but we are kidding ourselves if we think we are going to stop. After all, it’s essentially the end of free agency and the draft is 30 days away –so why not look a little closer? What can it hurt?
A lot has been made of the fact that Frye had 10 TD's to 17 INT's. Is that bad? Yes, it’s horrible. One thing we can all agree on is that it needs corrected. Another thing we can all agree on – a hail mary at the end of a half that’s picked is just a stat and nothing more – it does no harm. Frye had 1 hail mary interception – so the reality is he had 10 TD’s to 16 INT's. Still sucks, I know. Now let’s take a closer look at the other 16 INT's and see what situations they came in.
What do most teams in the NFL do when they are down by 10 or more points in the 4th quarter? Everyone all together now --- THROW. Yea, we all got the answer correct. 7 of his INT's came when we were down by 11 or more points. (5 of those we were down by 17 or more in the 4th quarter). Do you think they knew we were going to pass? I know when I watched I was surprised teams weren’t stacking 9 in the box. For those counting, that leaves 9 INT's left. I couldn’t remember every game with a “drop†that turned into a pick. 2 stick out for sure, the infamous Edwards vs. the Saints and Northcutt vs. Carolina. Two guaranteed passes that were off WR hands. That leaves 7 INT's left. Right now the Frye haters are saying, “Soup loves Frye – he’s making excuses". The logical people are saying, “That’s a horrible situation for a QB to be in.†How many QB's have success down by 17 in the 4th? Back to the other 7 INT's:
Vs. Saints – trailing by 6 in the first half.
Vs. Baltimore – up by 2 in the 4th. He was blind sided as he threw.
Vs. San Diego – up by 3 on a 1st down.
Vs. Oakland – down by 7 and the infamous one up by 3 in the 4th, quite possibly the worst idea by a QB in NFL history. 2nd and goal from the 6 he basically threw a hail mary that was picked off. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Not that this is an excuse – but what idiot of an OC is going to throw on 2nd and goal from the 6 in the 4th while up by 3 when you are having a great day running the ball? By the way, we won the game – Frye threw 3 TD’s.
Vs. New York Jets – up by 7 in the 2nd Q. We won the game and Frye also threw a TD
Vs. Houston – tied at 0, 2nd down in the red zone. Hurt wrist, he was supposed to be out for the year.
Without watching game film of those 7 that are left, the blind side can’t be blamed on Frye. 7 INT's in a bad situation, 2 off WR hands, 1 off a blind side and 6 that are his fault. 6 to truly blame in 13 games, how bad is that?
Everyone is thinking, “but Frye sucked vs. the Bengals in game 2 why isn’t that on here. It’s because Soup loves Frye so he won’t bring up that dismal performance.†The second Bengals game was by far Frye’s worst statistical performance with 0 TD’s and 4 INT's. I looked at play by play to get a better understanding of the game. Here’s what I found. Frye was 8-13 in the first half. His 14th pass was intercepted – it was a hail mary at the end of the half, we were down by 17. Frye then threw 2 INT's when we were down by 24 points. His final one, this is the one that cost us the game – we were down by 30 with 3 minutes left and it was 4th down from our own 12. Yep, Frye sure cost us that game. What a bum, huh? Too much is being made of Frye’s 4th Q INT's, especially when you need 3 scores in the 4th for the comeback.
Frye completed 64% of his passes on the year and was 9-12 on 3rd and short for 1st downs. Something that really stuck out (I preface this by saying Frye’s stats were removed by me); of the 13 games – 5 of them we had 17 or less carries, in 5 we had 21 to 24 carries, in the other 3 we had 26 or more carries. Can anyone guess which 3?
“OOOH, OOOOH, OOOOH, ME, MEâ€!
“Yes, Soup?â€
“Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets and Oakland Raiders.â€
“That’s correct, in 3 of our 4 wins we ran the ball 26 or more times.â€
We carried the ball 23 times vs. Atlanta – we played great defense and Frye was mistake free. By the way, Reuben Droughns was 2nd to LAST in the AFC in YPC (yards per carry) on 1st down. Again, not a situation you should put any QB into. Bottom line, Frye wasn’t as bad as his stats show. The truth is the offense lacked a game plan and had a retarded OC ruin the first 7 games of the year. Not something you can blame on the QB.

Because our offense sucks so bad at taking pressure off the QB (being able to run & protect him) we cannot be sure how good or bad our QB's are. But then it's been that way since '99.

good points verse.,
This is the time of year when the emperor has no clothes.
People seem to remember a lot more about a player than is actual fact, perception is more convienent than reality.
One of the things that I have done is go back and watch some of the taped games. Frye has some faults, and may not be the answer but his play was not that bad considering the lack of a run game and an OL.
The biggest issue I had with the Browns was the number of check downs because of the lack of OL protection. PDawgs stat says it all.
Good Point! Frye did keeps us in many games, that should have been complete blowouts.
How many times did Frye run for first downs and drive down the field in the last few minutes? Yes it would end in the end zone throwing an interception , but he did get us down the field and lived to tell about it.
If we have a Stud LT, and a Star RB I think we would win many games.
Go Browns !!!!

I´m all with Daman and Vers on Frye....I don´t know if he´s the answer....and I think that should be the honest answer of every Brownsfan at this point....I´ve seen enough improvement in the ATL and KC game..even the 1st PIT and BAL games
Many on here forget that this guy made his 6th to 20th start in is career with one of the worst OLines and running games of the entire NFL.....his 70+ rating combined with his running ability looks really promising considering that....
And again....I´m not tired to mention this: look up the stats of every NFL starting QB in his first 20 starts and compare that to Frye....please do that before you type BS...Roethli is the exeption NOT the rule....and to even compare the circumstances would be evil
Improve the OL...it´ll imrove the running game AND Charlie...it´s that easy...isn´t it?
Oh, and yeah Toad...of course Garcia only struggled because we didn´t run the WCO...ROFL....wanna compare Olineman by Olineman? an RB by RB? It´s uggly...

Last year was Frye's first year starting, so here are some other first year starters:
Terry Bradshaw G A C % YDS YPA TD INTs 13 218 83 38.1 1,410 6.5 6 24
QB John Elway 11 259 123 47.5 1663 6.4 7 14
Jeff George 13 334 181 54.2 2152 6.4 16 13
Don Majkowski 13 336 178 53.0 2119 6.3 9 11
Troy Aikman 11 293 155 52.9 1749 6.0 9 18
David Carr 16 444 233 52.5 2592 5.8 9 15
Rick Mirer 16 486 274 56.4 2833 5.8 12 17
Brett Favre 15 471 302 64.1 3227 6.9 18 13
I threw scrubs in there to show Frye isn't near the point to be judged. You'd have thought Bradshaw would have sucked and never sniffed a Super Bowl - let alone 4.

Playing devil's advocate here, but isn't "improvement" to be judged as such when a player consistently produces at that level?
Derek Anderson went 23 of 32 for 223 yards, 2TD's and 2INT's in his next to last start, producing an 85 rating.
He then backed it up with a 4 INT game and a rating of 12.
So where's the support for Anderson? Did he not show dramatic "improvement?"
Django, I'm not calling you on this. That isn't my point. I'm simply stating that it's possible for any QB to have a good game or two, but that true improvement is established through consistent performances. If we're going to go by a players complete body of work through stretches at a time, we'll see that Frye improved very little between his 1st and 2nd seasons, as both years produced ratings of 72.
Frye can...........Hell, he should improve............this next season. The question is just how much more he can give with the limited tools he has at his disposal. Sure, a system switch will effect him, but then again, it'll effect every QB coming through here, as there isn't a single QB who'll be experienced running Chud's system, so the original premise of the article is moot.........
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

I think we should focus less on our QB and more on our running game...
I'd feel a lot less concerned about Charlie with a bona fide ground attack.
exactly.. exactly... exactly....
Having both Lewis and Peterson sharing carries would be the best thing for the Browns in my opinion...
