the article mentions "life savings" not "entire life savings" so I could see it being read either way. it is obviously the money he on-hand he could get quickly.
Sorry, you are correct, But to me, when you say "life Savings" I take everything into account. I'm not selective about it at all.

I have about $30 in a change jar in my bedroom ...........
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

If you had kids you wouldn't, you'd have a jar of pennies while all the silver mysteriously disappears.
I have a feeling into the junk food line at school
Just one more advantage of not having kids.

I love it when I get my bank statement, and I see that incredible $1.50 or so per month in interest ......
Man, I cannot believe how that 0.15% interest adds up so quickly.
I have an annuity that is paying 7% ..... and that seems like such an incredible amount these days. Just crazy.
It used to be that a person could save for retirement and have their money actually work to create some degree of wealth for them over time. When interest rates were in the 5-7% range, you could put money in the bank and actually make something over time. Hell, some CDs were actually paying 10% back then. $10,000 paid $1000/year then ....... now you'd be lucky to get 3% on a long term CD. $1000 interest became $300 pretty damn quickly.
Heck, government bonds are now down to nothing, and those used to be a decent buy.
It is really hard for a person to save their way to prosperity over time anymore.

I solved that problem really fast. Just pay for a daughters wedding, then 10 months later help pay for a son's wedding and poof no more savings to worry about

Why do I not have kids again .....?

Yep.
I settle for the ones who prefer just practicing making them instead ......

So women that grimace and scream and call you all kinds of mean names the whole time?
Exactly!

What do you do while they are practicing, watch a movie?
He rubs her feet, goes to get her ice cream, takes off work to go to the doctor once a week, shops for cribs and clothes, goes to get her more ice cream, shops some more, turns the heat up... then down... then up again... then rubs her feet some more... now that would be practicing.

Not a chance.
I might give a massage ..... but the rest of that crap ....... just not for me.

i'd have to find a way (my mother-in-law is diabetic, so she eats sugar-free frozen yogurt - no, it's not the same, but I couldn't live in a world without ice cream)
I just have small servings of real ice cream. I actually use my daughters bowls to make a smaller serving size, but it still looks likeu alot because it's in such a small bowl.
Speaking of ice cream, has anyone else tried the new Ben & Jerry's flavors? I have found a new favorite...Chocolate Peppermint Crunch ( Chocolate Ice Cream with Peppermint and Fudge Swirls and Mint Chocolate Cookie Balls).
Other new flavors: Cannoli CoffeeCoffeeBuzzBuzzBuzz And 3-4 flavors in their Greek Frozen Yogurt selection (which are decent)
I went through a stretch where I refused to eat the stuff because it was too childish and fatty.....but I realized how stupid I was and now I'm eating a tiny cup 2-3 night's a week. Same with very good beer. I workout and watch my diet most of the time, so why not?

Works for me.
i do the same thing when there's only a little left in the freezer
Ben n Jerry's is too expensive, especially with my 5 year old wanting it too. I've been on a kick of Ruggles. Salty Caramel is terrific. Love the Arctic Mint and Black Raspberry Chip too.

It's expensive because it's worth it. Ruggles fills their stuff with "over-run", which is air. So you're paying less but getting more of nothing.
I only buy B&J or Haagen Dazs when it's on sale. I'll get the 2-for-$5 or 3-for-$6 when its available.
Have you ever tried making the stuff yourself? I got the KitchenAid attachment and it's super easy to make. I'm sure you're little girl would enjoy making it with you (she's 5, right? You had yours around when I had my daughter). Check out this video (start at 2:45 to watch the difference in ice cream volumes):

Of course I make my own. I make a fabulous banana caramel ice cream. I have the KitchenAid stuff too (That's my employer so I'm glad to hear you use my products).
And, yes, I know I pay for air with Ruggles, but sometimes, I'm too lazy to make my own and I rarely run into B&J or HD sales.

Sorry, didn't mean to make it sound like I was insinuating anything because you were "paying for air". It's more like that the cheap stuff is $X per ounce and the good stuff is the same price, but less volume.
You'll have to type up the way you make the banana caramel ice cream, I'd like to try it. (just how you get the flavors in there. I use the 9-8-3-2-1 method from Good Eats to make the base).
