Hard to remember what brought me here. I registered on the old DT board sometime in early 2002. I remember by September 2006 I had almost reached 1000 posts, and I was excited to get my "Dawg Talker" status. And then they told me they were shutting it down. One of the administrators promoted me to Dawg Talker on the last day. Then I registered here and have been climbing that hill again now for seven years. LOL. Well, life does get in the way, and I sometimes disappear from here for six months at a time, but I always come back, and seeing the old names and reading the familiar posts makes me feel.... happy. This is the oldest and most consistent community I've been a part of. Not sure if that's sad or not, but I don't think so.

It's funny you mention the part about becoming a Dawg Talker. I was nearing HoF and I was peeved that I missed out on it. I was happy when I become a HOFer on this website. I finally was at the top...

...then I found out they have a "Legend" status. Still not there yet...

Try being on this site for 7 years and STILL not being a HOF

Now YOU'RE the show off...I'm number 66!

How I got here? Dad and Mom had sex in the back of a VW Bug in December '72. Then I was born. LOL!

VW Bugs had backs in '72?

According to my parents, yes. They told me that I'm short because I was conceived in the back of a VW Bug. Mom and Dad wouldn't lie to me, would they?

Mind you, these are the same people who told me I was 3 months premature since I was born just 6 months after their wedding and you can't have premarital sex.

That's silly... why not just add a year to each anniversary? When its really their 7th, tell everybody it's their 8th... who is going to know?

You would have thought that's what they'd do. But they were teenagers and didn't know better. So, for a long time (until I was about 10 or so), I believed you couldn't physically have sex until you were married.

Well that is when they give up the key to the chastity belt right?

I was a member of the Browns Board when it switched over to become Browns Chat. I didn't like that one, and Purp asked if I wanted to come over to this Board. I did, and the rest is history.

Reading all the stories on here, I guess I'm the big newbie. I'm a Browns fan living in San Diego and a needed some football news other than San Diego fans jumping on/off the bandwagon. A buddy of mine (dong) steered me over here in 2009, because of the articles posted and the in-depth football talk that (mostly) goes on. I wanted to learn more about the X's and O's of football, so I started lurking here. I don't post too much though, because I'm a football idiot compared to most.

Have no idea how i stumbled across the original board, probably a Google search or something. Lurked for a while and then registered. Was living in the UK at the time so the Browns being so bad meant that they could go whole seasons without being televised so was hungry for news etc as i've been a fan since the mid 80's.
Started up with a "Hi" Post in Pure Football which got moved i think....Noob. I guess i'm going back to 2001 - 2002 here.

Did manage to get to the Hall of Fame status in the very last days of the old board, never got my Gold Jacket though. Doesn't look like i'll get one now as i read on a daily basis but rarely post.

I made the trip to Dawg Talk Island in November 2003 and met some of the folk here. Its a trip i'm keen to make again. A lot has happened since being here. Emigrated, Divorced, new girlfriend, baby etc so probably a reason as to why i don't post. I should get my backside in gear and start working on "The Wisdom of Dawg Talkers III" - There's some realy funny people on here.

And if you received a pm from someone in Browns Chat telling you about this place, it could well have been me. I spammed a lot of folk when Purp set this up and also saved a few threads with Purp that would've been lost such as the Raven Killer thread and a few others that can be found in the archive.

Riddler's "Wisdom of Dawgtalkers" threads were classic. I think I'm gonna do a search for them now and re-read them.

We must have been in the same pew...I'm #124. Of course, I knew about this place, but I was protesting the Browns shutting down the forum and wouldn't register.

That's weird. I think you were the one that told me about this board and I'm #40.

Nah, like I said...I was protesting.

Actually, I may have changed my name here at first, then came back to this one...

Hey TopDawg thanks for them links, they were good fun to go back through. I did start saving for a WoDT III and might have a few quotes but don't know where i saved them!

Also, check out the Original Dawgtalkers thread in the Archive, thats a good walk down memory lane for a few (though i wasn't around i joined a few years later.) Kind've shows the history of the Boards and the journey we are on.

I'd just like to say that my first two posts ever were about (1) cheerleaders and (2) the uniforms. And, I posted them in the wrong forum.

Followed by someone telling you to read the rules....usually Shep.

What happened to Shep and Christy anyways, did they end up getting married? Brons fan hooking up with a Steelers fan....would be funny if they had Ravens and Bengals kids....I think shep's head would explode

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Shep and Christy got married. They both went kind of nuts on here, though.

Dawgpounddrunk had a meltdown at Christy, he got banned, then Shep and Christy stopped posting right after that. Not sure if that was the reason, but that meltdown was classic. I wish I would have gotten a screenshot before the posts were deleted.

I joined the original DT board when I was in college - always a browns fan but became a fanatic when I went to BW in berea - actually lived in the browns dorm on campus for awhile

I tried the browns chat on the official board for awhile and have been to a few other boards but always liked how this one was run and enjoy the people on this one

I think I ended up not here because back in 06 there was a choice of boards. I was struggling with the orange on Brown font so I went with the other board.

Now that I'm here I know I can choose font color. I've got the scarlet and grey running.

Also you got a lot more emoticons which is kinda neat.

I mostly read the football forum because I spend most of the day discussing the same stuff at work and by the time I check in there somebody's either already posted what I knew or there were already 15 opinions. I read it anyways.

I usually have fun on game day forum. Hopefully this year I'll be less cynical and it will be more difficult to post because I will be intensely focused on the game instead of being able to call the next 3 plays the way most of the defenses who faced Shurmer's offense were.

I was an original DTer and when this site got up and running (and nobody told me) I noticed a lot of the people I knew started disappearing and the new format at the official website wasn't nearly as good... I was left to languish there for a while until somebody came and saved me and let me know about this place...

that's my story as well... It was sometime in the -01/02 season when I started the on on the Cleveland Browns site before they made the switch and I left the "improved" chat forum. I started on there the same day as Soup. I don't know if anyone remembers him or not? My old SN was Couch4Life smh... I don't know what I was thinking when I made that SN.

After the 2007 draft, I just happened to stumble on Dawg Talkers while searching for a place to talk Cleveland Browns football. I'm Active Duty in the Marine Corps and, due to being stationed away from the beloved Heart Of It All, I tend to be part of the minority group in being a dedicated Browns fan. Trust me, I get a lot of grief and be the butt of a lot of jokes because of my Brownies performance on the field.

We've had some interesting debates since 2007. There was the playoffs hope, DA versus Quin debate, the coin toss, the dropsies (BE), the Holmgren keeping Mangini thing, the hiring of the unknown Pat Shurmur, Coach B (if I remember correctly ), the Colt McCoy/ Weeden competition, and many more deep Browns football topics. It certainly has been fun and some of these debates (especially in regards to QBs) have been pretty heated. That's what I love about this board: intelligent and passionate football talk that you rarely find elsewhere!

Here's to another fun and fruitful 5 years!

I started out on the old Dawgtalkers, can't remember when... spent a little time on the new board when it changed over but didn't like it. I came here when Purp sent me an invite. My most notable contribution, besides my wit and charm, the Brownie emoticon:
