The Raiders made receiver/kick returner Josh Cribbs an offer last week at the outset of his post-Cleveland U.S. tour. After visiting three other teams, Cribbs has decided to accept it.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Cribbs has agreed to terms with the Raiders.

Cribbs also visited the Giants, Jets, and Lions. Jets G.M. John Idzik recently said that Cribbs’ injured knee “isn’t quite there yet,” which in all fairness could be a reaction to Cribbs’ belief that the Jets’ offer wasn’t quite there yet.

Cribbs leaves the Browns after eight seasons. His full role in Oakland isn’t yet known; the former Kent State quarterback initially made his mark as a return specialist, but he never fully became the kind of weapon on offense the Browns thought/hoped he’d be.

Good luck, Josh. Thanks for everything you did for the Browns and the City of Cleveland. Hopefully, when your career is all said and done, you come back "home".

Best of luck to him. I hope he tears it up.

I have no reason to think this will be the case, but I won't be surprised if he's out of the league in a year or two. I hope he flourishes out there, don't get me wrong. I wish nothing bad on the guy. But I just think he's on the downward end of his career.

I was hoping he'd sign with the Giants for one last shot at a SB ring. Good luck to Josh though.

Hope he managed to get a big contract with them. He may look back at the 4 and 5 win seasons in Cleveland with fondness, given how bad the Raiders are.

He might also have the chance to play receiver regularly given the lack of talent on their roster.

And you guys said he's lost a step. He clearly still runs a quick 40 times for the Raiders to want him.

I wish Cribbs all the best out there. He gave us something to cheer about when there wasn't a lot about this team worth getting excited over. I understand the reasons for not retaining him, but he was really fun to watch when he was in his prime (and the NFL rules provided more opportunities to make special teams plays).

Pryor to Cribbs.....the Ohio connection? I just can't envision that.

I like Josh as a person, but he's lost about five steps. Coupled with the fact the most recent kickoff rules diminish his value exponentially, I have no problem with this team letting him go. I'm interested to see the Raiders use him...

Remember when Cribbs was our sole offense for awhile (that offense being special teams returns)?

The Browns don't play the Raiders this year, unless it's in the playoffs.

If Cribbs, and Dawson can't retire as Browns, then who can?

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

+1.

I'll definitely check in on him and the Raiders this season. Hope he tears it up.

I remember. My daughter and I were at the opener against the Vikings several years ago. Brady was the starter. He was awful. Cribbs had a couple of long returns. I remember my daughter and I getting excited any time the Vikings kicked off or punted. We knew that was our only chance to score. LOL

Remember when Peterson ran through our entire defense and stiff-armed our corner backs to the ground? That was such a fun game, just like so many others over the years.

Speaking of painful openers, remember when Chuck Frye opened the season with a 70-something yard TD bomb to Braylon that was called back because Shaffer (?) absolutely mugged his guy (allowing the play to happen).

Cribbs has been a complete special teams BAMF in both punt coverage and during kickoff/punt returns. I've yet to see a single man sacrifice their body on the field the way JC has. I wish he could have completed his career with us, but I understand the FO call to not resign. I hoped that he would develop into something greater on offense. I certainly do not count him out for the Raiders though. I think he made a good call going to a team devoid of talent. I really believe if properly utilized, Cribbs has 2 or 3 years in the tank.

I wish him high success with the Raiders!

'06 HO against the Saints.

I remember it distinctly because I had to buy a new remote.

If Peyton Manning can't retire a Colt, then who can?

The point is that it is very rare for a player to play out his entire career with one team. That's mostly a thing of the past.

Do we get a 2014 compensation pick for him? Considering he was an undrafted FA it could end up being win for us. Time will tell. Still I'll miss him. But I agree, the new return rules, ruined his career.

No. The Browns have signed 9 FAs to non-minimum deals and only 9 Browns from last year have been signed to deals with other teams, including Cribbs. I don't know if Cribbs got better than vet minimum, so he may not even count towards 9.

Would need Juqua Parker and Sheldon Brown to catch on somewhere for a pick. Even then, with the contracts Bryant and Kruger got, the best we would be looking at would be a 7th.

In other words, not going to happen.
