Adrian Peterson Says He’s ‘Not With’ Gay MarriageMay 27, 2013 12:08 PM MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — NFL MVP Adrian Peterson says he has family members who are gay whom he loves and respects. But on gay marriage, the Minnesota Vikings running back says “that’s not something I believe in.” Peterson made his comments in a recent interview with Sirius/XM NFL radio. He was asked his thoughts on the Vikings cutting longtime punter Chris Kluwe, an outspoken advocate for gay rights and gay marriage. Peterson says he considers Kluwe a good friend. He says: “I have relatives who are gay. I’m not biased towards them. I still treat them the same. I love ‘em. But again, I’m not with that. That’s not something I believe in. But to each his own.” Gay marriage will become legal in Minnesota on Aug. 1

My advice to him would be "well don't get married to a dude.....dude."  Seriously, why are athletes all up in this issue on what seems like a weekly basis? You can't look at social media without these fools embarrassing themselves or their franchises and being forced to apologise for homophobic or ill considered statements (yes, i know the above isn't homophobic) the point is, why do these people care? You are a football player. Go play football and don't go to gay weddings. It's easy.

People who shouldn't have a microphone put in front of them; athletes musicians artists politicians news anchors and probably just about anybody. Since when has it become important to voice an opinion? News(?) stations do it all the time. "We want to know what YOU think about....email/tweet/text us at...." "Well what do you think about it Pixie?" "Well Dixie I think...." I guess there wouldn't be an forum boards with out this constant demand to voice opinions.

Yea, I know what you're saying and I'm not expressing disagreement with what he said, but I remember a day when the only opinion to make news was from people who were educated about a specific subject. Nobody else's opinion mattered much.
These days it seems everyone is granted their self-importance to talk about anything.
Except for me of course.
I am the 1 significant exception to that rule.

He was asked. He answered. He's entitled to answer with his opinion. I think it's the weight of his opinion that people skew.

the upside to our current technology is that you can get news and information and opinions a lot faster and from a wider variety of sources than you could when you had 1 newspaper and about 4 hours of news on television a day.....
Now that you have access to a dozen newspapers in print, thousands more online, 492 other "news" websites, 84,201 blogs, 144 hours of news and opinion shows on television a day, and instant access to almost anybody's opinion that you care to listen to through various social media.... you get to hear opinions that you don't really care about.

All Day can say whatever he wants, he is a beast and when people thought he wouldn't come back or be the same after his surgery, he returned faster and better than ever IMO...
If he isn't down with fruity pies, it's his right. Just b/c he is a superstar and all that jazz, shouldn't mean he should just blab out what he and others feels the media wants to hear. Good for him for being truthful and honest.

can't speak for anyone else, but I've always been open to the idea of gay/lesbian marriage. Never thought it was my business to tell someone who to love or who to marry be they same sex or not.
I just don't think it's my (or your) business and I certainly don't think it's the Government Business (be they local, state or federal)

So, you're able to voice your opinion on the subject but he isn't?
Sure, we all wish they wouldn't talk about it but if you're gay and this is your issue and you put it in the public forum, Peterson and everyone else has every right to voice their opinions on the subject.
Is it only alright if you're in favor of 'gay marriage' to voice that opinion?
As for me, I think I respect his opinion more than I do Brandon whatchamacallit formerly of the Ravens or Kluwe. Neither of them really amount to jack as far as players go and nobody cares about them.
And, for them, let them attend as many 'gay weddings' as they can fit into their schedules.

I don't think that I would be shocking anyone if they learned that I wholeheartedly oppose 'gay marriage'. I don't care who someone loves. I don't care what people do in their bedrooms. I don't even care if gays show respectful affection for each other in public (holding hands, a simple kiss, or what have you). I really could not care less. What I find objectionable is the gross displays and attempts to alter our societal identities by changing the meanings of words and scrapping our traditions.
Also, those that support these measures don't like to mention that they don't speak for those that are gay that don't like what they're doing and saying that they're doing it on their behalf.
My cousin is gay. She and her girlfriend have been together for many years. I would have to say that it's close to 20 years. She got pregnant through IVF and they have a beautiful little girl. We love them all and both my cousin and her girlfriend oppose 'gay marriage'. Gays that promote 'gay marriage' are ostensibly doing it in their name as well and they reject it totally.

I am 100 percent against Obama but if gay people want to get married then more power to them. I Just don't see what the big problem is unless the government starts telling some Churches that they have to preform the marriage ceremony ?

My only point is that we are bombarded these days with "useless", meaning yet another irrelevant opinion, information from people who, in the past, would never have been asked these questions.
AP has an opinion and that's GREAT!, but why is it news?
What were once news sources are now sources of controversial conversations. Sound bites and hair-doos.
The balance between the value of "common" sense and real sense has been tilted away from the real sense and towards nonsense.
I try to work with high school kids who don't know the difference between a city and a country, but can tell me in great deal ALL about the Illuminati.
They can talk ALL day and say nothing. When the television was invented many people thought it would be worthless because of the radio. Then someone had the incredibly insane idea that it could be used to educate!
Well advertising agencies quickly changed that thinking.
AP and his opinion are another commodity.

Nah , he can say what he wants but gay marriage is an idea whos time has come and it WILL happen and rightfully so . I can't believe the people who pull the old " sanctity of marriage " out of their butts . Marriage has become a farce and IMO an anachronism yet a segment of our population are forbidden to fail like more than the marriages that take place between straight couples ? Yeah marriage is soooo important. Just ask Brittney Spears or a Kardashian .

Like I said earlier, he's free to express his opinion, and I don't really see anything wrong with him doing so.
But it probably won't age well. For example, there were plenty of people who were free to express their opinions on segregation, and did so.
I bet many of them would take it back if they could.
We're now at a point where the writing is on the wall... might not have been the smartest thing to say, as it's not going to age well. He'll probably have to walk his comments back someday.
