Well, Bon Jovi and Michael Stanley aren't exactly my cup of tea. However, by any ticket sales standard you apply, Bon Jovi is a huge act. The dude still sells out stadiums around the world. ::shrug::

It is a big act... Bon Jovi may not be a lot of people's cup-of-tea, but he is HUGE and sells out everywhere he goes. I would be shocked if this doesn't sell out in the first week, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it sell out in the first 48 hours.
MSB is Cleveland musical royalty - that alone is a large draw for many (though, I personally was never much into their music). Bon Jovi appeals to a TON of demographics, and as was mentioned, mostly those likely to have disposable income... and he is Global in a very real way, and he is very much an icon in the industry. He isn't Sting (thank God), but he can still sell out a venue nearly anywhere in the world.
I'd rather see Trent Reznor and NiN, however ;-)
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

I don't have a problem with the show as much as I have a problem with them saying it's a big act. They were making it like the Beatles were going to be announced.

Quote: Now, I don't know a lot of people, but I think I know enough people to say this concert will draw little interest.
From the band with the largest grossing tour of 2010 that generated over $150 million?
I'm not a big fan of Bon Jovi, they have some decent songs, but to say this wouldn't generate interest is just not true....
Okay, I stand corrected.
I guess I don't know many losers then. Just kidding. Seriously, I know ONE person that would want to see Bon Jovi. And I would have gone through many words before landing on "huge" to describe the current following of that band.
Was is a reunion tour or are they actually making new music?
“...Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!”
Would've loved to see something like a jam session involving notables from northeast Ohio. Something unique that you can't get in every city in the country.
Anyway.....I wouldn't call Michael Stanley a rock icon....we was a local bar band back in the day with maybe a record or two those outside of Cleveland heard......Bon Jovi....I never like him, but he was popular around the world.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Good deal I suppose.....I have been pretty much 100% a country fan since maybe 1980. The last concert I attened was Merle Haggard back in March.....maybe the best concert I have ever attended......seriously, and I have seen some name bands in my day.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
With George Jones' passing, Merle is one of the last links to real country music......I am talking links to Jonnny, Conway, Hank, and Jimmy....Jimmy being Jimmy Rogers.....that goes a ways back, you may not know him.....I assume you could figure out the others.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

I only knew of Michael Stanley because a favorite band of mine, Widespread Panic, covers 'Let's Get the Show On the Road'. John Bell, Panic's lead singer/rythem guitarist grew up in Cleveland. I'm sure as a fan of Stanley's. So I know there are 10's of thousands of 'Spreadnecks' around the country that know at least that song.
I really, really loved MSB back in the day. Really, really loved them.
I dated this one girl way back in time, when I was just out of High School, and to her an MSB concert was like the world's strongest aphrodisiac.
I saw a LOT of MSB shows, and enjoyed every single one of them. lol
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

I'm no MSB fan but can someone confirm for me that the guitar riffs in that My Town song are the same that the Ohio State band uses during football games? I don't know the name of that song.
Ugh... I'd rather have Bon Jovi. Actually I'd rather just go deaf. Geddy Lee's voice is fingernails across a chalkboard grating to my ears. Their music over produced bleh. Never understood how a band with such talented musicians could be less than the sum of their parts. JMHO Why are we here? Because we're here. Roll the bones... Lyrics as deep as a thimble.

Not a Rush guy either. Although I understand their contribution to rock music.
A buddy of mine from way back was a huge, huge Rush fan.
I like some of their stuff, but they were never in my top ... even 20 favorite bands.

Not a big Rush fan either, but to watch Geddy Lee play the bass, that foot organ thingie and sing at the same time is pretty remarkable. Neal Peart is an elite drummer. Alex Lifeson is an average guitar player. Amazing full sound for a trio, but I personally just don't enjoy their music as much as others.

anybody who has seen Rush live, did you end up picking up a girl and getting what you wanted after the show. Eh,probally not. WMMS gave Rush some real exposure around 1975. Can't believe Micheal Stanley is gonna open. God his sound ultra boring. I can see it now,he's gonna show up in a Browns jersey he bought at Dick's that morning. Rah rah Micheal Stanley Cleveland's backyard hero. The only Stanley's I know with musical chops are Stanley Jordan and Paul Stanley.
Hey, you want to launch the new Browns season with a global rock icon? Think again. Why don't you just win a few more games, what a novel idea!
There is no " global rock icon" on EARTH! That I'd rather watch, over a witty dogfood commercial.
If it's Paul McCartney, it's reaLLLY gonna be a letdown! I HATE that (name calling). And the reason I hate him, is the way he came across in an interview some years ago. Arrogant (namecalling).
The whole thing is a Terrible idea! Can't they just put a really good football team out there? If you want to get CUTE! Why don't they just set off some fireworks, they are talking about July? Launch the new Browns season with 5 minutes of stand up comedy from Drew Carey? It makes as much sense, which is no sense at all!
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
