That's kinda how it is. Things I can do in the interim is change the settings on TTL so that knowledge of the existing entries expires quicker, so the new numbers will be picked up sooner when things come back online.
I also plan to just plug in the new IP addresses as soon as I get them tonight so that the process actually starts right away.

I feel stupid reading this thread. I didn't realize how little I knew about computers until I opened this. This is like a foreign language to me. I'm gonna go lie down and count to 10.

Probably too late now, but you can have the TTL on the DNS record be set relatively low temporarily so that way it will replicate faster. I'm not sure what your current TTL is...

the old provider's technician that is pulling the server will actually be driving the server over to the new facility himself,
Job hunting?

Sounds good.
Maybe I am mis-remembering .... or maybe we set up the change of DNS while the old site was still running ..... but I don't remember any down time when we changed over. Like I said though, that was a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
That is possible, but since the physical server is being taken down, and moved, then has to be setup and turned on, and Ppl can't register the new DNS information until he has the info and the server is taken offline at the old facility and installed at the new. (well he could do this before but it's risky to make those updates before you have hardware up and running)
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

Troy McClure: Hello, I'm Troy McClure. You might remember me from such instructional videos as 'Mothballing Your Battleship,' and 'Dig Your Own Grave and Save!' Now over the next six hours I'll be taking you through the 'dos' and 'do not dos' of foundation repair. Ready? Homer: Ready! Troy: First, patch the cracks in the slab using a latex patching compound and a patching trowel. Homer: [to Bart] Hand me my patching trowel, boy. [Bart shrugs.] Homer: Hmm. Troy: Now, do you have extruded poly-vinyl foam insulation? Homer: No. Troy: Good! Assemble the aluminum J-channel using self-burring screws. Install! Homer: What do I do for- Troy: After applying brushable coating to the panels, Homer: Wait a minute- Troy: You'll need some corrosion resistant metal stucco lath. Homer: Wait a minute! Troy: If you can't find metal stucco lath, Homer: Uh-huh? Troy: Use carbon-fiber stucco lath! Homer: Uh-hohh! Troy: Now parge the lath!
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

Still dragging their feet on getting Browns chat up and functioning again. Like reading responses from old posters from Browns Dawg Talk board again. Don't need to toe the company line here. Will stay here if and when Browns FO finally gets their board functioning again.
