Whatever happened to Peavy? He used to be lights-out for the Padres, but got traded to the Sox, and seems to be up and down since.

5 in a row thanks to a towering walk off HR by Giambi and a solid outting by ZMac.

I'm kinda hoping Giambi's hit has the same effect that Winfield's walkoff hit had in 1995.

I seem to remember a lot of the players back then saying his hit in '95 was something special. Like it brought the team together. It sure seemed that way last night, Swish was hugging him, he picked up Tito, and then got the water bucket dumped on him.

That Winfield shot was one of my most memorable sports moments. My grandfather was a long time friend of Dick Jacobs, the owner of the Indians at that time. And we were in the owners box with Mr. Jacobs and I was sitting right next to him on one of those bar height stools when Winfield hit that homerun to left field.

His face lit up and I was just so overwhelmed that I couldn't believe I was sitting right there in that moment. Gave him a high five. I was just kind of numb. It was too much for me to process lol.

Pretty awesome.

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians have acquired left-handed reliever Marc Rzepczynski from the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Indians sent minor league infielder Juan Herrera to St. Louis on Tuesday in exchange for Rzepczynski, who Cleveland hopes will help them get out left-handed hitters.

The 27-year-old is 9-17 with a 4.20 ERA in 177 career games for Toronto and St. Louis. Lefties have batted .224 against Rzepczynski, who pitched 2 2-3 scoreless innings for the Cardinals in the 2011 World Series.

Rzepczynski has split this season between St. Louis and Triple-A Memphis. In two stints with the Cardinals, he posted a 7.84 ERA in 11 games. He has limited lefties to a .185 average in the minors.

Cleveland's only other left-handed reliever is Rich Hill.

Herrera batted .275 in 39 games for Class A Mahoning Valley.

Nice minor move by the Tribe to get a LOOGY here for a very minor cost. Really good fit. STL was misusing him entirely, and hopefully the Indians can see that. I'm not sure that he doesn't keep Hill on the roster, he's that much of a one out guy.

The guy called up for the Sox tonight is interesting. Coming off of a no-hitter, one of the top prospects in the system. He'll probably end up as a reliever, but has good stuff.

Can I assume the "R" is silent? I know nothing on this guy but if he is better that Rich Hill, I'm good.

The R is silent. He's an okay pitcher used just against LHs. If you use him against RHs, you're going to lose. He's been at AAA most of the year, because St. Louis wanted him to be more than a one-out guy. He desperately needs to re-find his slider and the confidence in it.

Nice win tonight. We always seem to have trouble every time a pitcher shows up from the Minors, so it was nice to be able to come through and tie the game against him in the 5th. Adding 4 more afterwards was almost like icing on the cake. In a way I knew that would happen once we managed to get to the rook a bit. (and I'm not sure if he's officially a rookie or not)

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Indians have optioned right-hander Vinnie Pestano to Class AAA Columbus to make room for newly-acquired lefty Marc Rzepczynski.

Makes sense. Go down and get your crap together. See ya in a couple weeks.

Just read that his nickname is "Scrabble" ... pronounced: Zep-CHIN-skee. He's been pretty awful this year, with an ERA approaching 8 and a 1.94 WHIP. Hoping this is one of those deals where a change of scenery turns a guy around.

Log: never heard the Loogy term before - does that mean "lefty-one-out-guy"? Or does his pitching make you go hock-a-patooey?

Lefty one-out guy,not a projectile mucus term.

He's not going to set the world on fire, but if he's used correctly, he can be a bullpen piece under team control until 2016.

Pestano will be back up on 8/31, I'm guessing, so that he'll be eligible for the postseason roster. Got to be a shock to the clubhouse. Vinnie seemed like a little bit of a leader in there. Hoping it doesn't touch the chemistry they had there.

the reason I think this team is so much better than last year and the previous seasons is because our Diff is +50. Last year it was negative and we were still finding ways to win early on which I think has carried over to the team this year. I'm still kinda bent out of shape about choo but this team is making me forget him...

KC has to be pissed that they are on a 7 game win streak because we are on a 6 game and det is on a 4.

After Kluber threw a pretty strong outing, Allen couldn't throw the dang ball for strikes. But the Tribe is making it interesting in the bottom half. Bases loaded, no outs.

Santana with the walk-off jack to finish off the game. I feel bad for Kluber for the no decision, but a win is a win is a win. And, Detroit crushed Washington today. So, we're staying in striking distance. Masterson goes tomorrow. Good show!!

Too bad we've won 7 in a row and gained a half game in the division...stupid Tigers...not to mention KC is really getting it done too...

We are right in line for the 2nd wild card spot now though with Baltimore losing.

This string is great. Tribe fan, but the Springfield News Sun refuses to carry any articles about the Indians.
They have a myopic obsession with the Reds, with entire pages. Started to cover more Browns, but not much. I like to see the comments here, so thanks fer the updates!

Awesome game last night, absolutely no quit in that group.

The stadium looked good too. Looked almost full from the shots that Comcast Chicago showed.

It'd be nice to get this one today too, and roll into Miami with all the momentum in the world.

Next week is going to be fun.

A lot of people are arguing whether their "focus" (fan focus is hilarious, as if they are determining the outcome) is on winning the division or winning one of those 2 wild card spots.

I think it's irrelevant. I could be wrong but I think the record of the AL central winner and the winner of that last WC spot are probably going to be very close. It's not like those 2 will be 10 games apart.

yeah, it just depends on if Detroit goes on another 2nd half tear. if they do, then we're not catching them. if not, then they'll wind up right along the same number of wins as the 2nd wild card.

remember, they had less wins than the playoff-less Angels last year (always made me laugh when some writers said they voted Miggy over Trout for MVP because Miggy made the playoffs).

Indians up 3-0 going to the bottom of the 4th.

Masterson has been strong so far. Rayburn with his 12th HR.

Let's go Tribe!

You're right.

I'm sorry, Mr Raburn.

Man, has he been a steal, or what? The only problem is that he's been so good that I don't see him hanging around for long. I think that he just signed a 1 year deal ..... though I could be mistaken.
