So....I'd say my sources of Browns / NFL information are: The Plain Dealer The Canton Repository (I like Doerschuk) Pro Football Talk Grantland (Bill Barnwell has some thought provoking stuff) Sports Illustrated (King is overwrought at this point but there's usually some nuggets in MMBQ) Football Outsiders National Football Post NFL.com Clevelandbrowns.com If there are other good sites with quality information let me know in this thread. I know the old OBR is still around but I don't go there. I think there's a pay component to it and that has proved correct at least as far as a friend who uses it feeds me info from time to time (thanks! ) My point is.... What is the deal with the Plain Dealer website? It causes my computer to hang probably half the time I go there (5-10 seconds of frozenness in Google Chrome) and sometimes it causes fatal issues. As you can tell from this description I am not a super tech savvy person. So what is actually happening from someone who is savvy? This has been the case for at least the last 6 months. I would think they would know that this is an issue for them. If anyone else has issues with it let it be known.

I get my info from NFL.com, WKYC.com, Cleveland.com. the rest, I get from here.
By the time we see it on Clevelandbrowns.com, we've already read it somewhere else..

I usually use Google Chrome also, but with that browser i usually don't have that problem on that particular website. With Internet Explorer, it's REALLY bad. (I rarely use I.E. anymore, just to copy and paste stories here.) Bookmark (save as a favorite) the direct link for Browns stories on cleveland.com, that should help: Direct link: http://www.cleveland.com/browns/You can also download Adblock Plus for Chrome, which should help. (I usually don't use it too much, as it slows down surfin' the 'Net just a little bit.) I think cleveland.com have so many ads and cookies poppin' in and out it takes the pages way too long to load on their site. You can tell what's loading in (for lack of a better term) by looking down at the bottom left hand side of your browser. Sometimes it seems like it's never gonna stop!

I don't know anybody whose computer isn't gagged by cleveland.com. They did an upgrade recently that actually made it worse. If they offered a pay site I'd consider it, because right now its nearly unreadable.

I have problems with cleveland.com only once in a while. I think that they have some sloppy coding from time to time. Their videos will sometimes hang my browser .... but will eventually start playing and release the browser.
I watched one on the day after the NBA draft, and it hung my computer. I let it be, and took my dog out. By the time I got back, it just started to play.
Just the cost of a free site, I guess.
As far as their future pay site, I think that it is going to be the same format, just with more content. I don't think that they are going to create a whole new site.

They are going to add a pay component. It's not yet clear what all will be part of that, other than every story in the print edition being available to subscribers. They are not supposed to change any of the current content available for free, but were unclear as to what they will add for subscribers.

The quickest way to get Browns information is the OBR, even the non-pay part of the site. The probably have 5x the number of posters than are here and threads get put up quickly when something happens. Also, they are not as strict with the rules over there so people can post twitter, rumors, etc. Twitter is an awesome source of information. It's a real shame that this site will not allow twitter from reliable sources. I love the twitter threads during OTAs, mini camps, and training camp over on the OBR. All the media guys are twittering real time. It's awesome.
Of course, with less rules, comes more chance for misleading information or just plain incorrect information. I think it's pretty easy to tell from a thread if it's legit or not and most times over there it turns out to be legit. A guy over there in the non-pay portion of the site said Gordon was getting suspended about four weeks before it actually happened. It was the only place on the web that had the information and he claimed he was in the know. He came across as credible. Now that he was proven correct, his next bit of information will come with some credibility.
This site IMO is a better community and the quality of posters is better. The discussion is usually better here as well and the fans seem more informed about the game, in general, over here.
But I go to both boards daily and without a doubt the OBR is quickest to the draw...and I'm strictly speaking about the non-pay portion of the site.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...
