They're accused of beating up two men, ages 27 and 28, at Life's a Beach in Kihei on March 17. That would be four days after the Raiders signed Kaluka Maiava to a three-year, $6 million contract. He played four seasons with the Cleveland Browns after being a fourth-round pick out of Southern California.
Maiava's agent couldn't immediately be reached for comment Wednesday. The brothers also couldn't be reached. Raiders spokesman Will Kiss said the team had no comment.
After reviewing police reports and other evidence, prosecutors decided to go forward with criminal charges.
Maiava, of Wailuku, and his brother, who lives on Oahu, were not arrested. Each was served with a summons on July 2 when prosecutors learned they would be on the island. The brothers are scheduled to be arraigned in Wailuku District Court on July 25, when they're expected to enter pleas.
If convicted of the misdemeanor charge, they could face up to a year in jail and a $2,000 fine. The petty misdemeanor carries a maximum sentence of 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Actually, IIRC Mangini told the media that Maiava did that in his justification for drafting him.

Yes... but there was an interview with him where he himself talked about it. I recall him saying "i'll try to get it on video" or something. Either mouth the words rolled off from, I highly doubt it to be true in any case. Especially after seeing his open field speed

It's a common thing here in Hawaii. They hunt on Oahu up in the Koolaus not too far from my house.
