So i signed up here right at the start of 2011, and while i read a lot here, i dont tend to post very often...

I'm a big poster over at dawgbones.com's forum (3500 posts since 07), but its a very small community and this place certainly has a lot more replies to threads, which is nice.

The past couple of years i have been going to training camp in the summer and taking lots and lots of pictures, but with such a small community over there, i dont feel its always worth the effort. Is there a forum photographer around here? I'm by no means a professional photographer, but my sister managers a camera store, and i often get my hands on some really nice cameras with awesome lenses, and when youre taking a few hundred pictures each practice, with high end cameras, you end up with some really nice pictures.

Was hoping to branch out from just my one forum i frequent, and woud like to expand on my photography a little bit this year. Does this site have people posting non media based photography, very often?

Last season it felt pretty awesome to burst some action shots of a touch down pass pulled in my Jordan Cameron, and even cooler when i went back right after to look at them, and saw a frame by frame group of pictures showing Gocong coming down on his leg funny trying to defense the pass, which left him on the ground after the play. looking at the pictures i immediately felt that he had just gotten a high ankle sprain or an achilles injury, which i posted over there, and as it turns out i was one of the earliest people to capture the injury and post it.

I'd love to follow even more closely this season, and will soon be contacting the browns to hopefully acquire a press pass so i can capture some action pictures from better angles.

If this is something this forum lacks, needs, or would just be happy to receive, i'd like to start posting here more often, and hopefully default as the forum camp picture guy.

can any admins or moderators give me a heads up on if this is something that could be a positive addition to the site, as well as allow me to use them as references when i contact the browns organization attempting to acquire said press pass?

please let me know what you guys think, any suggestions, any requests, or any comments. Thanks!

Welcome,,, I like pictures,,, Not sure how big the storage is on here for pictures but there is a "myuploads" section that you can post them too and then put them in your posts as needed.

Again, welcome

anytime you can take some pics... I'm sold on checking them out! I think it enhances the experience on the board and I don't think we have anyone that fills that role.

welcome aboard!

People's personal photos have always been welcomed, but there are some stringent size restrictions. Check out the "rules of the pound" to see what those limits are. Welcome.

Welcome bro. Good idea if the sizes don't get in the way. I like pics a bunch. This is a great place for opinions if you run out. Go, Browns!

The size restrictions will really limit the quality of pic you can post here. I'd like to post more pics but most of the time they look like crap when downscaling and/or cropping to fit the size constraints. I understand that we don't want to eat up the server space with memory hog pics, but maybe the mods can make an exception for Browns related photos?

Welcome aboard. Hope you enjoy it here.

As others have said, there are strict limits on the size of images that can be uploaded here, but you can always just post a link if you have a site where you store your photos, and let people visit that site via a link.

Only if you want to sacrifice the anonymity you have here (unless you use a dummy name on the hosting site also). He sound fairly serious about his photography and probably hosts them on a site with his actual name and contact info as most photographers do.

Am I wrong here or is this poster mostly concerned with gaining privileged media access with the Browns.

And to that I say hardy a har har.

Nice try kid.

I come here for the local perspective that I otherwise would never experience. Any thing like that one can share here certainly makes for a better experience for those of us who aren't nearby.

Haha i was applying for a media pass before deciding to post here. A friend and I have applied for media passes before (for other non browns related events) and didnt need anything special to get them. Whether i get them or not, i'll still be out there taking the pics. Getting them just means not having to bump in to as many sweaty shoulders or hover over stupid families who brought their 7 kids who are at the very front, yet looking the opposite way from practice.

as for the size restrictions, i would not be uploading the images to this site, i will be hosting them elsewhere and using image tags to post them without taking up any server space here.

Perfect! But still read the "Rules of the Pound" as it does not allow "site pimping" which is defined as promoting your own website on the board.

If you are truly not concerned about promoting yourself but more interested in providing the board members with photos of camp then hosting them on a neutral site just to make them available for viewing seems the way to go.

It does seem as though you were treading softly so as not to step on anyone's toes if there were an "official/unofficial photographer" for this site. There is none. Many members post pictures on the board or links to hosting sites to share them with the rest of us.

As I hear you describe your passion for getting great pics it makes me very much hope that you are able to make them available for viewing as I would greatly appreciate that as I'm sure would everyone else. Many members are not able to attend camp due to time and distance. Even most of those who do attend leave camp with no images to share.

oh yeah i wont be site pimping at all. I own a small window cleaning company, im by no means a photographer. My mother owns a decent DSLR, and my sister managing a camera store, has a bunch of cool cameras and lenses she's going to let me use. The best camera i actually own is my iphone. But with a nice enough camera, a tripod, and taking enough pictures; even an ape can end up with some really nice action shots.

I will be uploading my images to imgur or some other site like photobucket...

honestly im just a huge browns fan, i end up going to camp every year and playing around with pictures anyway, so i figured i would turn it in to more of a hobby than before, while providing some cool pictures for my fellow browns fans.

I do have to wonder who can get one these days. If someone has a "sports" website, can they get a pass from the Browns? I don't know that answer to that.

it really just depends on whom you ask.

my buddy got a press pass once while in senior year of highschool because he requested one, and said he had a video production class (which was true), and thats all it took for him to get free admission and a press pass to some event. after that, he tried his luck a few more times, and got it fairly easily.

its pretty cool to have, just because you get to be a couple feet ahead of the crowd at camp. my biggest gripe, as i mentioned, are the damn families who bring their kids and their neighbors kids, set up a freaking picnic and bring the toys, and take the very best real estate there, only to sit and play with their kids and not even watch the freakin practice! rustles my jimmies.

i dont mind first come first serve, usually but i also like to be able to move around practice and get different angles and different action thats going on. obviously up front its pretty packed, so i feel like a dick swinging around a foot long lens...

but yeah, the press pass is just a nice little bonus if i can get it.

I just contacted Dan Murphy who handles the media relations for the browns. left a message for him and am waiting to hear back. Basically i just said im interested in receiving a press pass for training camp, that i have been going there the past 3 years and taking pictures but i am not a professional photographer, but that i have about 3,500 posts on browns message boards and would like to turn my summer hobby in to a more "official" role for some of the browns sites i frequent, and that i was uncertain of the appropriate channel for doing so. we'll see how it goes.

That's almost perfect, just add that you stayed at a holiday inn last night and I think you'll nail it.

And you found out, much to your dismay, that half (or more) of the posters aren't any more local to the Cleveland area than you are.

And I can wholeheartedly agree with this. Would love to attend camp but it's too much of a haul for me to do easily (although I do have family in the area - Strongsville & Mentor). If you need to know something going on in Jets camp, it's a short drive south for me. Had meant to do so while Tebow was on the Jets but never got there last year.

Well, if that doesn't do it for you, I don't know what will. Good luck.
