Think about it though... Mangini is fired, Seely soon follows and lands in SF. Dawson turns down a deal with the Browns and is eventually given the 1st of 2 franchise tags. There's a changing of the guard in Browns town but Dawson has the Browns in a position where they can't franchise tag him anymore. Mangini is hired in SF and 2 months later Dawson is the newest member of what team ???? But we ALL know players NEVER follow their old coaches around the league so I dismiss the possibility that Dawson went to SF based on any prior association with Seely..... Lets face it guys it looks like a duck it quacks like a duck but it's just the Dog.............................RIGHT????? RIGHT

What point exactly are you trying to make?
You said Dawson soured on the Browns and their fans because of the way Mangini was handled.
Then to prove your point you cite Dawson joining Seely and Manigini in SF. That's weak linkage at best.
Obviously, it's not a stretch to believe that Dawson liked playing for Seely and that factored into his decision. How does that prove that Dawson soured on the Browns and their fans "for good"?

Well documented and noted he was in dire need of getting close to his family. Google Map Seattle (where I believe his family lives) to San Fran - it's a good decision for him and also he got to go to a good team.
He's said his good bye along time ago and has exited blue collar. Team could have thrown all the money at him and likely not have been able to obtain him. Priorities are priorities and sometimes it's not about the $, team or maybe even to an extent - the game... he's human and a family man with kids that growing up rapidly.
his family is in Texas, he actually is now further away than he was in Cleveland.

I think it had more to do with a chance to win a ring.
Imagine Banner calling his agent.
Yeh, whats Phil looking for in a contract?
Phil really wants to get a ring before he moves on to coaching.
A ring eh? Alright, I guess Cleveland is out.

LOL, lets face it that is one of the few things that really stick out as a "miss" by the FO... not saying they didnt try.
I really think ( AND NO I HAVE NO PROOF), that Banner spoke to his agent. His agent said, "look Dawson really wants to go play for a ring, no disrepect but that aint happening in Cleveland, so unless you want to tag him and pay him 13 Mil or so he is walking". jmho.
Love Phil, we wil miss him, and I feel for his replacement the first time he misses a big kick... christ this board will light up, but players do have rights to go and play where they chose.
Anyway back to Banner.....
