I have serious doubts about David Nelson making this team.
He does have a history of injury. But man when he's healthy, he is a very good WR. I agree that his health may cause him to be cut. But it sure would have been nice had he of remained healthy. I really wanted to see this guy make it.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

as much as it would make me happy to have gordon staying after practice like little-- i think its stupid to expect it. little is staying after practice to work on the fact that he struggled catching the ball. if the #2 WR makes a decision to stay after practice, that doesnt mean the #1 WR has to do the same. What about the #3? #4? what about the guys on the bubble, why arent they? Why isnt mingo staying after practice every day trying to make the starting line up? Why isnt sheard staying after to make sure he doesnt lose that starting job to the lightning fast rookie behind him?
practice would never effing end. Who here is staying after work, working for free, to be the best in their company? I know im not.
The dude screwed up with a substance. He hasnt screwed up on the field, he hasnt dropped a bunch of passes. What i want from him is to stay away from substances. Whether he decides to do additional work for free, to become the best, thats something thats up to him. Unless there are 52 players staying after practice, im not going to hold it against gordon for not doing so.

---Oh, and mac.............what the heck are you talking about?
Vers... wasn't talking to you, but since you asked, indirectly, we are discussing you calling TRich a liar..
...TRich stating to the media that he played much of the season with broken ribs and you choosing to doubt Richardson's claim of playing with broken ribs...you are basically calling TR a liar. ...you claiming that TRich was too aggressive on the field for someone who had broken ribs...
ddub pointed out that during the season the Browns listed TR as having torn cartilage and not broken ribs. I explained that if a player wants to play through an injury, some teams will list an injury as being less serious than what it is.
ddub...Once Richardson revealed the facts...that he did play much of the season with broken ribs, the Browns did not try to knock his story down. I have to believe, if Richardson's claim was not true, the Browns would have corrected it.
Paco...I have no doubt that a rib cartilage injury can be painful...but I won't claim a rib cartilage injury is more painful than broken ribs. I have had both injuries, though my broken ribs came a few years after my playing days were over.
I was able to play through my torn cartilage (where the rib attaches to the sternum), but there was no way in hell I could have played with my broken ribs. I understand that each injury is different and each human being endures pain differently...none of us are cut from the same mold.
A Browns fan has a choice to make, regarding Trent Richardson's claim about playing much of his rookie season with broken ribs..,
...you can either believe the man...or not believe the man.
I have no reason to question Richardson's honesty and truthfulness..no reason to doubt his word.

Not a whole lot of details and specifics about his play from actually seeing him play. I think that I was 6 or 7 when he was traded to the Dolphins.

Yeah, you're right, but I thought there was an insinuation earlier in this thread that the media could hold him accountable for his actions. Or, conversely, things would be worse if no one was asking him about it. I don't buy that; but you're right -- they only care about turning in a story.

j/c Cleveland Browns RB Montario Hardesty suffers right thumb injury in practice BEREA, Ohio -- Browns running back Montario Hardesty returned to team drills today after a long layoff with a hamstring, but on his second rep, he injured his right thumb and had to check out of action. The injury occurred when the Browns were practicing the Wildcat, and the snap sailed high above Hardesty's head. When he reached up to grab the ball, he injured the right thumb. He came to the sidelines and had it checked by the trainer, and then had the entire hand heavily wrapped, most likely with ice. The extent of Hardesty's injury is unknown. Coach Rob Chudzinski will address the media after practice at about 6:30 p.m. The injury is unfortunate for the Browns and Hardesty, considering his roster spot was already at risk because of the hamstring tendon. In recent weeks, running back Dion Lewis has surpassed Hardesty as the No. 2 back behind Trent Richardson. Check back later for updates on Hardesty's situation. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2013/08/cleveland_browns_rb_montario_h_4.html

If anyone is looking for the small, dark cloud hovering practice each day, just look for Hardesty's number.
Good grief.
His thumb, really? How bad can it get for this guy?

1st 45 minutes of practice.
No longer available.
Yeah, for the past three Mondays they've had a live feed of practice with commentary from Carucci and Zegura. It only lasts 45 mins from 4-4:45pm. It's good to an extent. That 45 min time block is all warmups and we cannot see any 11-on-11 drills. So it's not as exciting as one would hope. Still, it's a good gesture and hopefully they change the timing of those live feeds in the future.

j/c Browns RB Hardesty hurt in weird scene BEREA — No sooner did Browns running back Montario Hardesty return to practice than he was gone. Back from a hamstring injury, Hardesty took a handoff in his first 11-on-11 drill in more than a week. He was tackled to the ground, which is against team rules. The next snap Hardesty took was a strange one. He lined up in shotgun formation, with quarterback Jason Campbell splitting wide right. The snap was high. Hardesty leaped to catch it, but in doing so apparently hurt his hand. He was removed from practice at that point. An ice wrap was applied to his hand. He left practice with his head down, heading for the locker room. Hardesty had been hoping to revive his bid for the no. 2 running back spot behind Trent Richardson. He is listed at No. 2 on the depth chart but is being pressed by Dion Lewis and Brandon Jackson. Lewis and Jackson both played roles with the “ones’ in the preseason opener, helping the Browns to a 10-0 lead. So he gets hurt taking a snap while running a play he probably never would in a real game? That sounds about right. His days are numbered.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Poor guy, this could be the final straw for him. While he never blew me away, he was always solid when coming off the bench. Too bad he can't stay healthy for more than a day. Or I guess in this case not even a day.

Thanks for the articles, guys.
--Great article about Mingo. He didn't seem to get much love on this board after the game. Wonder why?
He was the most impressive player on the field. The guy was all over the place. He does indeed have a high motor. The Rams resorted to double teaming him because they could not handle him. He is obviously very quick, but he showed very good power. I read from Mourg that he doesn't have good hands, but they were darn good the other night. He is a strong man. And man does he get after it!
--Man, the Hardesty thing is almost comical. I know it isn't, but are you kidding me?

Imagine Mingo in there alongside Sheard and Kruger. Who gets the double team?

The thing I love about Mingo is that at first, the tackle was just shoving him upfield, taking him out of the play and he had no impact. Rather than pulling a Wimbley and praying that he could just run around the guy, he started going to the inside, even pulling off one of the most sick moves I've seen where he changes direction with one pivot, and murders the tackle.
Very impressive and seemingly smart kid. His future is incredibly bright.
you had a good run Hank.

I hope I'm misreading this. Or else there's a new first fighter in Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

It sounds like it was a bad snap that went rifling over his head, and that he had just tick off the end of his thumb when he tried to catch it. Hopefully he just sprained it.

It was either a jammed thumb or Mack with a smile on his face.

Tough one seeing anyone of our linemen can call for a double team. Can't double team all the linemen and all the linebackers lol. I think if Horton blitz as much as the drool from his lips indicates, we will have people roaming free more often than not. Just they need to get to the QB before the QB can react. Jaball, Kruger, Mingo heck even Groves showed he is pretty fast can all get in the backfield, lickity split!

Thats true.
It was amazing seeing us stunting this past week. I can remember the last time I saw that from a Browns DL or DL/LB Combo.
Everything has been straight forward for so long, and we wonder why weve had such terrible pressure on QBs. Deception is amazing.

Richardson was mostly disappointed with his season.
Vers I don't mind you having an opinion of disappointment with his play last season, after all Trent agree with you.
Its was your claim that the rib injury was made up that was a big mistake of yours. Which many are jumping on you for implying it. So you made a mistake.
To the other guy with the stats...its stats. Results were different obviously not by yard per carry...but before the injury what many here will forget (I remember it was stated by an announcer) that Trent was one of the leaders in Yards after contact. That part of it I think suffered after the rib thing.
As was noted in other posts our Run Blocking seemed to have improved after Greco took over at LG and yet the YPC was similar You see stats can go in many directions...lol
All is good. Vers you still batting over .500 on stuff put out there. Just wrong about the ribs
JMHWell a little more than opinion. It has to be one of the biggest football Lies perpetrated by MANY PEOPLE or guess what...He had 2 cracked ribs
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

Trent's rib injury...
I feel like everyone is forgetting. It was originally reported a rib cartilege injury, and later it came out that it was cracked/broken ribs...because they didnt know. It was something they found out later.
I dont remember if it was end of the season physical, or that they checked again before that game they held him out, but they found it out later.
