In a perfect world, sure. But that's never going to happen.

Even the best teams are going to get tested like that at some point in the season. It's pretty much inevitable.

In 2007 the Patriots were rolling teams, but even they had to pull out a few from behind.

The Weeden/McCoy battle that you guys had on this particular board is OVER. Sheesh.........move on, man. You got your way.

But...........like he did against Miami when they absolutely kicked our butts all over the field all day. Colt led the team to a game winning TD late in the game. We abandoned the play book and let Colt make plays.

Look man, I am not a Colt fan. So just stop. I saw him plenty of times make plays at the end of a half or the game and he made it out of nothing. Weeden has not done that. I am NOT saying Colt is better, but he was better in those situations.

The only time Colt seemed to make plays was when a game was all but over though. That was the problem. He was not a play maker under any stretch of the imagination, and to say that he made more plays than Weeden is ridiculous. Our scoring went up dramatically under Weeden compared to McCoy.

We'll see how Weeden does this year under the new coaching staff. I think that he'll do well.

You just can't let it go, can you?

Your statement is not true. He won the Miami game and the Jax game w/game winning drives. He made big plays against New England and led us to 17 fourth quarter points.

One more time..........I don't even think Colt is good, but I am a bit tired of people twisting the facts.

He's gone. Weeden is here. This thread should be about Weeden. He stunk last year. Saying he stunk less than McCoy is like saying dog crap stinks less than rotten eggs. Who cares? They both stink.

I'm no Colt fan, but he did make some plays. I was at the Jets game when he led us on a late game tying drive to send it to OT, and then had us on a nice drive to win when Stuckey fumbled the game away.

Yeah, he was never the best QB out there, but he had some playmaking ability. Not the kind you can rely on to generate wins on a weekly basis, but there were a few occasions when he had some moxie when it counted.

I've yet to see that from Weeden. He's got a gun Colt will never have, but thus far he's lacked the intangibles one would like to see when it comes to being a playmaker.

I want Teddy Bridgewater. Watched him today. The kid is unreal. Extremely accurate. Very poised. Good enough arm. Audibles quite a bit. Reads defenses. Mobile enough.

I almost hope our record isn't that good this year and we can grab him. He is the real deal.

During the off season I started to scout quarterbacks. I watched last years game between Louisville and Florida. Really liked what I saw from Bridgewater. Watched Taj Boyd and David Fales. Bridgewater looked the best.

Watched the game yesterday he lite up Ohio and looked good doing it. Although he sure had a lot of guys wide open.

No question though he is an accomplished player with a solid set of skills. I am going to try and catch as many games of him as I can.

I don't want to get my hopes up though because the Browns and quarterbacks are like oil and water.

Weeden is going to do what Weeden does. He will make some throws and then will not. In the end the Browns will win 6 to 9 games. Weeden will reach being average.

The Browns will have to get back into drafting a quarterback next year. Where that goes is anyone's guess.

I think the Raiders and somewhat the Jags are explicitly tanking to get Bridgewater. We have no chance at him. Best we can get is Boyd and that'll likely require a trade up.

I think the Raiders have been backed into a corner of sucktitude by Al Davis. They have tons of wasted cap space due to horrible contracts and bad picks.

It's possible the Jaguars are tanking, but Bridgewater isn't the once in a decade type talent (see; Luck, Andrew) that NFL teams tank for.

Yeah the Raiders publicly said this year was going to hurt. They've got $50+ million in dead cap space after dumping bad contracts. They realize they have to start fresh, but I wouldn't exactly call it tanking.

... and the Jags are just doing what they always do. Can you call it tanking if you're always terrible?

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Well if Weeden doesn't work out we can always add him to this cause.....

Of course the Browns are not sold on Weeden. This is not news that his butt was on the line this year to perform at a much higher level than last year.So what does he do,throws another crowd pleasing 3 INT game down the toilet,on opening day.Sure they weren't all his fault, but guess what, nobody gives a crap at the end of the day. It's just 3 INT and that's what matters, for him or any other QB in the league. He doesn't have it,never did and never will..just like the rest of the QBs that have come through here all these years.Banner knows this and wasn't interested in him to begin with. That whole offense will be junked soon, and I'm all for it.They will get a mobile blu-chip QB,and REAL WRs,and fill in the holes on the O-line.Does anybody really think they brought Norv Turner here to coach that group of garbage?...Dont kid yourselves, they have plans in the works, for that offense and Weeden isn't a part of them, nor are those 2nd rate WRs.This isn't the old days where it's hard to find NFL QBs out of college anymore. These kids are good to go right out of school, and are big and mobile on top of it.Look around the league at how many there are,and the trend in the NFL.Kapercrap,Pryor,Wilson,RG3 ect....Take a good look, because this is the last we will see of D.Anderson part 2,and will never look back.

Thanks for the laugh!

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

To say Brandon Weeden "stunk" is like saying the sun is warm.

Watching him on TV, you never TRULY get an understanding of just how bad he really is. I can't say with a straight face he is a leader. I can't say I saw ANYTHING Sunday that makes me think he is even respected by his team mates. The guys weren't even talking to him on the sidelines....That speaks volumes to me. IT'S GAME 1 AT HOME!

Another thing you miss when you watch on TV. The guys running WIDE OPEN in the middle of the field. I simply cannot forgive it, when I am literally jumping out of my seat screaming "OMG he is WIDE OPEN THROW IT TO HIM!!!!!!"

Then he sees him late, throws late, it's off target, receivers try to adjust, it leads to tipped passes and potential INT's. He only had 3 INT's, he could have had 5. When I, a guy who had been drinking since 8am that morning, can IMMEDIATELY SEE a guy running open and he can't. There is no debate, he isn't ready, physical tools or not he's not good. He's what 30 now?

I heard so much chatter about Brady Quinn being "The most NFL ready QB in the draft". Then the first game he started, I was the first one to say "yeah he's not ready, not even close".

Weeden is going to get a long leash from the FO this year (as he should) and we will see some good plays from him. This board, our fan base in general will always back these guys way too much.

He's not good and if he is our starting QB next season I'm going to be very upset.

The odd thing about this team is we have two quarterbacks who are pretty good options to start while we groom a #1 QB. We just don't have anyone to groom yet, Granted in the NFL starters are starters from day 1 so having guys like Weeden and Campbell around to take lumps isn't that useful.

Does All-22 exist yet? I don't really bother trying to properly evaluate the game, but if I could get my hands on some proper footage that would make me consider it. From my seat at home I rarely get to see the wide open receivers to scream about. It just looks like Weeden is getting pressured and the coverage is great.

The casual fan's ability to evaluate the game with the footage they give us is severely limited.

Edit: The title "Browns not sold on Weeden" is misleading. Who in the league would be sold on Weeden? I doubt anyone would consider him a sure fire starter at this point.

I don't remember too many people saying that Brady had a bad 1st game. I was one who said that he played one of the worst pass defenses in his debut while people were wetting themselves over him going 23-35 for 239 yards and 2 TDs. Of course, the Broncos allowed almost 450 points that year .... but then Quinn followed up his debut with an absolute bomb against the Bills ....... so .........

Anyway ..... we're evidently going to stick with Weeden for the time being, and should since this was his 1st game in this offense. If he doesn't improve, then he'll be replaced. We should be used to that by now.

Going to the games is so important. There is a reason they send scouts to watch the games. I go to at least the home opener every year for that very reason.

Sadly, by the time I am prepared to go see another one we are usually 1-5 and It's just not worth it.
