What a shame. Good person and has worked hard. At the time it seemed like a good idea (draft pick) many a RB came in the draft with injuries and had a career. Even severe like Magahee. You never know...Lewis I remember had a knee injury very similar to Hardesty and he was taken by Ozzie in the first round worked out great. Two guys, Courtney Brown and now Hardesty seem to have the injury bug.
You never can predict that. Just cause we have a bevy of posters who SEE ANYTHING WE DO AS BAD said Oh no he will have injury issues and were right. Don't make them prophets. Cause if they really KNEW they can make a lot of money.
RB turns out to be one of our deepest positions with talent. Hardesty 100% healthy was to get very little reps. Just some here n there to spell Trent. I actually was hoping he got a lot of reps in preseason and showed his wares in order for us to TRADE him to a team with need! But that ain't happening now. PUP LIST? New limited Injury list? Waived? IR? Got a feeling we will end up waiving him if we need that roster spot, which most teams do.
If so thanks for the effort Hardesty...hopefully when you are done with the game you will be able to walk! Good luck n health! Of course not gone Yet.
Lava...he'll be back soon.

The mid season return IR is for an injured player who is hurt in camp or a game, and who is not eligible for the PUP list. The player on this list cannot practice at all until 6 weeks have elapsed. Then the team as, IIRC, a 2 week window to decide whether or not to activate him.

I really don't expect us to place Lava man on the IR when he most likely will only miss 2-3 games. We'll just eat his roster spot for the first few weeks IMO.

Where's the motivation to do any of that when your dad has probably made millions as an assistant coach over the years?
Yeah like those Manning Brothers and Clay Matthews and Andrew Luck and Chris Long!
I'm not saying that's the case for everyone who's dad played or coached the game. I just never saw fire with Robiskie, and I saw every single game he played in college, like most Buckeye fans. He seemed to get by on being on a top tier team, and being a bigger receiver.

I would add to this: he didn't possess the athletic ability to separate and accelerate. I literally never remember him being able to change speeds/directions and get himself open and/or make people miss. He just wasn't an NFL athlete IMO.

FWIW, he was a very solid young player in High School around here and at College and he came with an NFL pedigree.. Logic says he had a better than even chance to be a solid NFL player....

Isnt IR like the 54 roster spot. If someone you like who is on the bubble gets a bruise you put him on IR.

I don't remember a ton of people bashing pick either, just the usual people who call you a homer if you even mention the thought of drafting a Buckeye.
Everything was set up for him to be a solid player with the team.

I was right about Hardesty, unfortunately. I was wrong about Robiskie. I really thought he'd make a career out of being a big bodied slot possession receiver. He didn't have elite speed by any means but there have been slower guys play 10 years in the NFL. I thought his football IQ, and his route running would make a career for him. Wrong. Disappointingly wrong.

When he was let go, I thought, maybe it was just the coaching we had here, then when he failed elsewhere, I realized, he just didn't have whatever it takes to be a solid NFL Receiver. Too bad, he's a really nice kid who you would want to root for.

I suppose that it could be used that way, but then that player cannot be used for the rest of the year, and cannot practice with the team. (unless you put him on the mid season return IR). It would almost be a waste of the mid season return IR to use it on a guy who isn't an integral part of your team, because if you then later need it, you've already wasted it. Personally I think that you save it for a starter, and save it until it cannot be used in any useful way. If it gets "wasted" that way, you count yourself lucky.

I feel sorry for the guy but at this point it's just over. I'd rather cut my losses and go with Richardson, Lewis, B Jackson, and Obie as the FB.
Montario? Pilot and Flying Jay are always hiring.

Now that Lewis is likely done for the season with a broken leg...might want to rethink the idea of... "cut him"...

I hope he wasn't reading the forums yesterday

Sure. It'll give someone for Lewis to visit with while on the trainers table.
