Wait, reading these boards, I thought bad things only happened to the Browns? link Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller likely will be suspended at least six games for violation of the league's substance policy, according to league sources. The announcement could come as early as Monday but the sides are still negotiating the final number on a deal that is expected to be formalized sometime this week, the sources said. Miller is not likely to go forward with an appeal, though all sides were trying to finalize the suspension's conditions. Miller met last Thursday with the NFL Players Association with some hope he could have the suspension reduced to four games, sources said, but another source familiar with the process was convinced it will be at least a six-game suspension. Regardless, Denver will have to begin game-planning knowing Miller will not be available.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

I thought the original ban was for 4 games? Did something happen? Was this because of his recent arrest?
Either way ... what a bad string of luck for Denver.

Missing six games now? That'll be a hefty blow to that Denver defense. Von had an outstanding year last year. This will hurt his early career.
Failure to appear in court for a traffic violation? Not sure how this slipped by him/his people he pays to organize his life...

I wasn't aware that the length of the suspensions was negotiable.
So much for "zero tolerance", eh?
Browns is the Browns

Another guy from the Broncos got 6 games a few years back for falsifying the pee test. I read it as they gave 6 but his camp is trying to get it down to 4 and not appealing. He clearly stated at the beginning of this that he didn't fail a test for what it's worth. Maybe he actually didn't fail a test, just got busted trying to use horse pee instead.
* I have not idea if this is what's actually going on. It is purely speculation on my part.

What I heard was that he "spilled" the first sample. This was before a practice. Then the next one he gave after practice was very diluted.
I'm guessing that would count as a missed appointment which is the same as a positive sample?

it was spilled? yeah, that sounds on the up-and-up. He'll take his 6 game suspension and Broncos fans will hope like we are hoping with Josh Gordon.

that seems very fishy though. having a diluted sample before practice makes sense, after practice seems less likely (were they not sweating through practice?)

Yes, regardless it still seems fishy unless he was extremely hydrating during practice and even at that, I still think it's fishy and hard to believe... Better it's their fiasco, and not ours though

So now the question is, do you view him the same as Josh Gordon?
Both are one suspension away from a year ban.
Miller tried to tamper with the test samples and got caught. Which is even worse!

No, I don't view him the same as Gordon. I have more responsibility to-be-held with Gordon b/c he is on my team, the team I pay money to see, the team I make sure to watch even though we've blown for years and years and the same team that I pay closet attention to. What they both did is wrong and they both got penalised, but losing Gordon hurts us a hell of a lot more than Von Miller's absence out there in the mile high which I could care less about really. I respect them, good team now with Peyton, but they aren't my team. Gordon still pisses me off! Back to the thread. League wanted to suspend Miller for even longer according to this: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...settled-at-six/
