Browns issue statement after Little, Gordon reported traffic violations
By Ryan Wilson | CBSSports.com
August 21, 2013 7:56 pm ET

Both Greg Little and Josh Gordon failed to show for recent traffic-related court appearances. (USATSI)

Browns wide receiver Greg Little got a speeding ticket Monday. As a singular event, hardly worth mentioning. Anybody who has driven an automobile for any length of time knows what it means to get pulled over for driving too fast. But this isn't a singular event for Little, who was clocked going 81 mph in a 60 mph zone, and was cited for expired plates, according to WOIO 19 Action News.

After some digging, WOIO also found that, back in April, Little admitted to driving 127 mph. He lost control of his vehicle, hit a guard rail, knocked down a light pole and left 40 yards worth of brake tracks. The wide receiver received a $350 fine.

In addition to the latest ticket, Little has a warrant for his arrest, which was issued because he didn't appear in court for having fictitious plates.

WOIO also unearthed another Browns-related traffic violation: Wide receiver Josh Gordon, who said in July that "my priorities are definitely in order," failed to show for a court appearance after receiving a ticket for driving 98 mph in a 60 mph zone.

Pat D'Angelo, the player for both players, told WOIO that everything is being resolved.

The Browns, meanwhile, have issued a statement.

"We're aware of the situation involving the players and their unacceptable driving records. We take matters such as this very seriously. We've spoken to both individuals, and will address the issue with the entire team."

In college at North Carolina, Little racked up 93 parking tickets. He was suspended for the 2010 season for accepting improper benefits, and left UNC with more parking tickets than career receptions, 93 to 86.

Put aside the fact that they are players for our team ... anyone going 125 mph is putting themselves, their passengers, and innocent people in danger. I don't care if they play for the Browns, Steelers, or work at McDonalds ... it's ignorant and immature.

As for the WRs ... this is just another few incidents in the long line of a patterned behavior. I know they are "just" speeding ticket issues, but sooner or later these guys are going to cost themselves and the Browns.

Agreed. Plus, the sheer volume and not showing up for their court dates is a huge sign of immaturity and irresponsibility.

Two guys who shouldnt be having these problems...

Little had the same issues in college...so to prove hes grown up...he shouldnt be doing this.
Gordon needs to be on the up and up cuz hes already in trouble...

Cmon fellas...If it was someone who had no history of driving problems, and not currently to be suspended...well thats one thing. This is dumbness out of guys who have been in trouble before.

Knuckleheads.
Idiots.
Maroons.

Pick an insult to hurl at them; it applies.

I hope they get whatever the max that the law can give them is, regardless of impact on the team.

At 16, 17 and 18 years old I made these kids look like Angels with what I use to do. At there age they should know better (of course I had been married for a while by the time I was their age and my wife calmed me down A LOT). I will not bash these kids for acting like kids but at their age they should know enough to get their ummm crap right and behave themselves.

Have to disagree, I did plenty of dumb things at that age but showed up for court. These jokers think they're above the law.

If it's not they need to be gone and out of the NFL. Sorry but if the money they are making does not convince them they they deserve a boot in their ass.

This kind of "little crap" will be a real test of Chud's ability as a head coach. How he handles these guys going forward ..... even if we don't see it ...... will be a real determining factor in his ability as a head coach going forward. We'll see how they do going forward by how they behave from now on. This little, stupid stuff could be a major factor as to how the players on this team see Chud going forward. Can they do whatever they want without regard to how it reflects on the team, or do they begin to start to think about how their actions reflect upon the team. It doesn't have to be a public beat down, but I do think that Chud must and will, address this privately, and definitively.

As long as they don't jeopardize their ability to be on the field, or their performance while on it, I couldn't care less what they do.

Get high, get speeding tickets, hang on LeBron's coattails...I really don't care. They aren't my kids, or my friends, or my family.

Just be eligible to play, and perform well when you do.

I agree that I just care about their performance and ability to help us win ... but I also don't want these decisions or actions to harm anyone else. We've all heard or known of situations with drugs/alcohol/high speed driving/etc.

Same here. As dumb and arrogant as I was back then, I knew if you skipped a court date someone eventually would come looking for you.

Therein lies the rub.
No one has come looking for them, they aren't that hard to find.Playing in the NFL does have it's perks.
High profile,a good lawyer,a fist full of money and these little annoyances will disappear. That is the lesson that will be learned.

I'm not an officer of the court but one would have to think they could have found him if they really wanted to serve the warrant. I'm pretty sure we all know where he's been for the last month, at least.

The speeding tickets, although certainly excessive, don't bother me nearly as much as the not showing up for court. That's just stupid. But, then, I never thought either one was a rocket scientist.

At this point, as long as it doesn't cost them time on the field I couldn't care less if they do a little jail time. Might be the bitch slap they need to wake up and see the path they're headed down.

I think if those actions harmed anyone, then they probably wouldn't be on the field, which was my main criterion.

Let me put it this way -

Let's say we make the Super Bowl this year. We're down by four with thirty seconds left. Greg Little makes a circus catch, jukes three defenders, and takes it to the house.

That night he gets pulled over, blows a .23, and has a loaded unregistered handgun in his car, along with an ounce of weed and a gram of coke.

Who cares?

I don't.

I don't care what they do to themselves either, but the fact that they decide to drive that fast could affect others. I know it didn't affect anyone else yet, but it could.

If someone drives drunk and kills themselves that is their problem. But if they kill someone else in the process that is a tragedy ... and some people don't think that stuff can happen to them until it does.

Is there a point at which a speeding ticket requires a court appearance in Ohio? Like 30 over or something?

Here in Florida you just send in your fine or take a driving class, or both. 30+ over speed limit is mandatory appearance, 50+ is $1000 fine and possible jail time for repeat offenders last I knew.

As long as he is subject to the same legal system that I am, I wouldn't care a bit.

Just as in this case.... as long as these guys get the same treatment from the legal system as I would get, I don't care how this is resolved.

In that exact situation, I wouldn't really care either.

If he keeps it up, we are much more likely to have a Jerome Brown or Josh Brent type of situation on our hands than a Super Bowl MVP, and I would care a lot. Sorry but driving 127 on a freeway is much more dangerous than DUI or texting while driving. What a selfish ahole.

J/C ...

Glad that the Browns are addressing this both with the team, and directly with the players involved.

Greg Little, Cleveland Browns receiver, cited for speeding and having expired plates, according to report | cleveland.com
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2013/08/greg_little_speeding_ticket.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns receiver Greg Little on Monday night received a ticket for driving 81 mph in a 60-mph zone and also was cited for having expired plates, according to a report on WOIO.com.

The Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department confirmed to WOIO that a deputy had cited Little on I-71 near the Ohio Turnpike in Strongsville.

WOIO also reported that according to records, in April of this year Little admitted going 127 mph and losing control on the Jennings Freeway at Spring Road. Cleveland police found he hit a guardrail, knocked down a light pole and left 40 yards of brake tracks. Little received a $350 fine for that incident.

WOIO also is reporting that Browns receiver Josh Gordon has failed to show in court for a minor speeding ticket after being cited for driving 98 mph in a 60-mph zone.

A Browns team spokesman this evening told cleveland.com that no alcohol was involved in any of the incidents. Also, the Browns this evening issued a statement:

"We’re aware of the situation involving the players and their unacceptable driving records. We take matters such as this very seriously. We’ve spoken to both individuals, and will address the issue with the entire team."

Little is due in court in Berea on Sept. 4.
