+ 1

I view it as Jackson/Cook opportunity to shows us what attributes they bring to the table. Not dogging Montario, no disrespect towards him - but his situations are what they are. Could have a high, top of the line refrigerator to store your precious 12-packs in, but if it's not plugged in - does it serve any purpose?

Trich and Montario really would have complimented each other nicely I think. I believe his time has come to an end though too.

Ok I'd have to check, but didn't Hardesty fill in for TRich for a game or two last season and do pretty well..

Richardson missed one game last season, the last game of the season. In that game Hardesty had 14 carries for 37 yards. Hardesty was kind of effective as a guy who could come in and give Richardson a break, but those guys can be found anywhere.

Ok,, I was wrong, Thanks

Last year he did have this:

65 runs for 271 yards for a 4.2 Average and 1 TD he also had 2 receptions.

Not earth shattering numbers. nice average however.

All stats aside, Hardesty ran with more pop and more burst than TRich did last year when he was on the field... Not saying he's better but he did look pretty good when he got a chance. Well, except wÒen he got a chance to catch the ball, then he didn't look so good.

TRich is 10+ lbs lighter and also, how quick his acceleration with multiple broken ribs compared to no broken ribs = big difference.

To me, his carries thus far in preseason - he is hitting and getting to the hole faster. If Trent can stay healthy, I really and truly believe it'll be a HUGE year for the young man... defenses will learn to pile on him cause no single defender will do anything but perhaps slow him down.

j/c...

Marecic...that was expected.

Surprised nobody talked about Norwood I was a little disappointed in that cut.

A lot to do about Hardesty??? He ain't on the roster whats the negative - I don't get it.

I thought it was a joke when I read Kruger got cut...then realized it was the Brother...lol

22 more to go.

Miller didn't play well at all when he got the opportunities. Cousins played well n benefited the most from these OG injuries as I thought he was history as an OT. His OG play was impressive.

Lanning had some good punts but not that consistent hopefully the new kid will bring some consistent kicking...if he wins the job.

We still going to get rid of a Punter n a Kicker so twenty more to cut.

Most of the other new guys if they don't stud quickly on ST...they are gone.

I think Peen said it best about Norwood,, he's not spectacular and doesn't stand out. And he seems to get injured a lot.

I think the reason I was surprised by Hardesty is that just a week or so ago, they said his injury wasn't serious and made it sound as if he'd be out only a couple of weeks. So yeah, that was a surprise.

Just read an article, New Englad had their entire facility where the Bucs had possibly touched anything sanitized.

He has been more decisive and quicker to the hole thus far. That is pretty exciting. Because in the open field, there aren't too many guys better than him.

Sure it doesn't hurt following a fellow RB with that running back "vision" in Oby to the hole. And holy crap when Oby actually goes to block someone, he actually does... who'd have thought that is what a fullback should do after witnessing Owen, lol. Use to seeing Owen getting blown up and destroyed at moment of contact.

Oby said it best: "It's hit, or get hit".

Regardless, Trent looking like he is rumbling with a lot of "swag"... yes, I said swag.

Harbaugh loved him in College.. Wonder if he ends up making the team and how Harbaugh will use him?

The kid did nothing wrong he just didn't live up to expectations. I hope he does well

On the contrary, I'd say he did nothing right. Literally. Being a nice guy and giving good effort doesn't guarantee you a roster spot. Having said that, best of luck to him.

Not a surprise. You don't play and it's hard to make a roster as a rookie.

Did Slaughter ever make it on the field at all?

Even in training camp?

Or was he still out from his achillies injury in college?

Asking because I'm honestly not sure.

He played in one game and got hurt again.

The Browns had holes a CB, S, and G. So they trade 2 picks for next year (division rival Pittsburgh used it to draft a S) and then the 6th rounder don't make the team. That's 3 picks the Browns had this past draft and didn't fill any holes for this year

I guess that cant be answered until we see how many CBs, Gs, or Safeties made other teams rosters (in those rounds).

Ill let the Lombardi haters do their homework on looking that up.

Fullback Zach Boren of some other nfl team was cut August 27th. He's a former Buckeye. I would have liked to see the Browns sign him, because I think he could contribute on special teams, goaline offense, and goaline defense. He was a linebacker for some time, I think. It may be moot pending what happened the last 3 days.
On Slaughter. Not a lot of yield from the 2013 April draft.

Heckert, Holmgren had a lot of media reports before the 2012 draft. (articles), saying they not only needed to hit with the 1st pick but all through the draft. The articles weren't there, the subject was ignored by the media this year. So it is like Lombardi and Banner, whoever, got a free pass. With Hughes, Winn, Schwartz, JMJ, and such, Heckert and Holmgren did better than average.
But it is water under the bridge, this is the start of a new season.
It is 10 minutes until the 6 pm deadline.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – The Cleveland Browns reduced their roster to 53 Saturday with a pair of surprises.

Receiver David Nelson and linebacker James-Michael Johnson were cut and the contract of kicker Shayne Grahm was terminated.

Nelson, who signed in April and was returning from a torn right ACL, missed significant time in training camp and did not play in the first 3 preseason games due to a bone bruise in the same knee.

Nelson was targeted 10 times in Thursday night’s 18-16 win at Chicago but he only caught 4 passes for 54 yards.

6th round pick, safety Jamoris Slaughter from Notre Dame, was also waived. Slaughter was never 100 percent healthy while returning from a torn Achilles which he sustained in 2012 with the Irish. He missed significant time during camp and preseason due to muscle strains in his legs.

Also cut Saturday: LB Justin Staples, LB Justin Cole, OL Aaron Adams, DB Akeem Auguste, K Brandon Bogotay, LB Justin Cole, RB Jamaine Cook, DL Hall Davis, WR Tori Gurley, WR Naaman Roosevelt and DL Brian Sanford

The moves don’t end here. General manager Michael Lombardi will be sifting through the waiver wire Sunday at noon.

The Browns will also be able to sign 8 players to their practice squad starting at noon Sunday.

The Browns reduced their roster to 68 Friday evening.
