Who preordered?
There are very few games I will drop the initial 60$ on. I usually wait until the price comes down, unless it's one of those games that stays around 50-60$ forever (Skyrim was like that)
This is one I want on release day.
I was kind of hoping V would be Vice City since the old Vice City was my favorite in the series, but I'm reading that San Andreas will be bigger then GTA: SA, GTA 4, and Red Dead Redemption COMBINED!
That's ridiculous. I can't wait to see what kind of vehicles you get.
It also looks like they adopted the Saints Row shooting style, which if you have ever played that series, has been better in that aspect.

I'm going to get it, but maybe not for another month or two. I haven't read one word about it yet, but I trust the series and developers enough to blindly purchase it.

I too will have this. One of the few game series that just continue to bang out good/fun game, one after the next.

They spend the time making a game and making sure each game has new nuances. Not just a rehash of last years game with very little modifications...:coughCODcough: :coughMaddencough:....
Think about it, this will only be the second "New" GTA on 360/PS3. They take the time and that is why their games are worth the purchase day one.

GTA games have good replay value. They always have. I know people who still pop Vice City in (myself included) and that game is 10 years old next month! Rockstar listens to their consumers too. They scour message boards and read emails. After GTA 3 came on the scene and opened people's minds up to that kind of gaming, people flooded them with ideas. I know for a fact that a lot of the stuff added in Vice City was because of ideas from fans. The writing is very very good, it always works out like a cheesy action movie that you grow to love. The voice acting is excellent. I love exploring these worlds too, and it sounds like this one is going to blow the gaming world away. I was going to take a day off to play this but that's not gonna happen and I may even have a game that night, but I will barricade myself in the apartment the following weekend and log some hours. What kinds of things are you guys hoping to see in this game?

I'm on the fence.
GTA 3, Vice City and SA were amazing games. I played the heck out of all three (Vice City was my favorite). But then I bought GTA 4 and lost interest in about a week. And then when I bought RDR, I lost interest in a few days.
I'll check out some reviews here and then watch some gameplay before jumping on it. We'll see.
I've been playing "3 on 3 NHL Arcade" for the PS3. It's a couple years old and only $9 in the PS3 store. Fun, fun, fun.
I'm on the fence about NHL'14. The demo is okay, just seems slow for some reason.
Maybe I'll get the new Hot Shots Golf game next. Those are always fun.

GTA IV by their standards was so mediocre. It had a very good story, but some of the side missions, which I always enjoy the hell out of, were unbelievably tedious. Those freaking glowing pigeons. There are like 200 of them. Ridiculous. That's more like work than fun.
Your friends calling you every 3 seconds was a bit annoying. It just wasn't a game that attached itself to you like all the others did.
Not having planes sucked big time too.
I wish just once Rockstar would release a GTA game that doesn't take itself so seriously. Saints Row the Third if you've ever played it, is so much fun. The storyline is not believable, the characters are over the top but the gameplay is so smooth and so fun. All the menus run fast, the side missions are repetitive but challenging and fun, and you have so many options.

I rarely even play the actual single player game in the GTA series. I usually do a little bit of the story, some of the side missions, create my own missions where I give myself a certain set of rules (something like snipe 20 people with headshots from atop a building and avoid the cops for a certain amount of time), or hop online and just screw around. RDR had me enthralled in the story mode, but I ended up just drifting away from it. I need to get back into it, that's a phenomenal game.

i loved RDR, one of my all time favorite games. I was just looking to re-purchase it actually. I never got to play the undead nightmare story.

GTA is one of the rare games that I know if I spend 60 bucks on it will be well worth it. It is almost guaranteed at this point. Rockstar always puts out a quality product and I've always been happy with anything that I've played by them.
Punchsmack, I agree about your feelings of playing GTA IV. Like you my favorites were the games before it (too hard to pick a favorite). I felt like a lot of the customization and some of the fun was taken away. I'm pretty sure its been put back in this upcoming game.
These are how the GTA game categories rank in my mind. Again to put each game head to head with one another is too hard for me.
Main Character: GTA VC. Also the voice actors in that game were second to none.
Music: GTA VC
Environment: GTA SA
Weapons: GTA VC/GTA SA
Realism: GTA IV
Customization: GTA SA
Difficulty: GTA III

This game is a lot of fun, but I don't feel like I can put a full review on here because I have only gone about an hour into the game. I can't play this game when I'm watching the Tribe or Browns/Bucks and with this last week the Tribe being must see tv, I just haven't really jumped full into this game.
Here are some thoughts though.
- The game looks amazing. It's a full step up from GTA IV. There's more going on in the city too.
- The map is HUGE. Supposedly it's bigger than IV, RDR, and San Andreas combined. I think there are some on the internet that have proven this to be true with some scale comparisons. I'm a little bummed they didn't put Las Vegas and Frisco on there. That's what made San Andreas seem so big. You had 3 large cities with outskirts type areas as well. It seemed vast. I have not fully explored this map though. For comparison though, GTA V is still smaller than Just Cause 2 which is a full 400 square miles. GTA V comes in a little over 350.
-Shooting is fun and you have a few options as to how easy/difficult you want it
-Driving is more arcade style, which is really good or bad based on preference. There are a TON of vehicles in this game.
-The characters are cool, although I'm only able to switch between 2 of the 3 so far, but I find it cool that at any point you can switch between your guys, and they aren't just sitting at home, they could be wherever doing whatever. They could be walking, driving, etc... It's a new addition that is refreshing from the old template.

I pwn it and have loved the limited time I've had with it so far. The soundtrack, like always, is phenomenal. The graphics are a lot better/crisper than GTA IV.

I don't know if you've done it yet, but you can actually run into one of your other playable characters just out in the city and run him over. They'll make you pay their medical bills though.

I don't have time at the moment to post more about the game but the city environment of the buildings, realism just blew me away when I first started up the game. I literally spent the first 20 minutes or so just driving around and marveling at the game. It was kind of overwhelming. There's very few games that do that. I guess the games that do are something special.

On another note the driving physics in this game are the best I've ever seen in any GTA game. The cars actually feel like they have weight to them and turning and weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds is just better than ever. On guns, the add ons that you can buy at ammunation are also very interesting. I just played a mission which required a flashlight attachment on my shotgun. Very cool stuff!

It's BS that online wasn't ready to go on launch day. I've never heard of such a thing. Is it only co-op, or can we still free roam and jump from helicopters onto another player's head 300 feet below if the mood strikes?

The latter. The problem was they still do not have enough servers despite trying to buy them and set them up. They really didn't expect the game to be this popular. Either way, I'm on and I'm having fun.

How are you supposed to make any money online? When I complete missions, I get somehwere between $1,000 and $2,000. But, I see other players who own mansions and the top-end cars. What the...? I have about $18,000 to my name and keep getting killed by other players, driving up medical bills and shrinking my bank account. It's like I'm stuck in no man's land.

This game, thus far, is living up the traditional "awesome'ness" of GTA series. Trevor Phillip character CRACKS me up!
The "rampage" missions are awesome. Wish they'd let you replay them!

You can, just hit start, go over to "Game" and it's under "Replay Strangers and Freaks" They have a Gold/Silver/Bronze completion just like regular missions.
Awesome addition to the way the game is played.

Not many, only one off the top of my head would be Manhunt, and that wasn't horrible, juts didn't live up to expectations.
Their games always have tremendous writing and voice acting. If the game itself isn't awesome, they always fall back on that, like watching a good movie.

The end just sucks. I never got any missions from the porpoerties I owed, the online is HORRRRIBLE.
The game itself was amazing but once I beat it, I just wanted to trade it in.

I just played GTA V online last night. I played with my nephew (12 yrs old, don't judge why he has the game) and a bunch of his friends who also have the game. It was a freakin' blast! We tried to see how many cops we could get on our tail. We stole a van and all piled in and shot at the cops. It was so much fun!
We made our own game to do that. When I was just in the regular GTA V online, I kept getting killed by random people. THAT was frustrating and lame.
