So on my team, I can either start Cam Newton vs a very aggressive Seattle Def or start Tony Romo playing against the Giants Sunday night.

Both are playing at home.

Who would you start and why?

I am starting Romo all year ... I targeted him and waited on him until late for a few reasons. He has weapons (Dez Bryant is projected to have a huge year, so naturally Romo is along for the ride). His team will be in shootouts because of the other teams they play. He always throws a ton of passes.

As for Sunday night, I love him against the Giants banged up secondary. The Cowboys also rely heavily on long handoffs to Murray (screens/swings/etc). I just think he'll have a good year. JMHO of course.

Cam. I actually have Carolina as my 1 game in my confidence picks. I think Newton bounces back this year.

sorry, this has bugged me all summer. Dez had a big year last season. I keep reading how he is going to "break out" this season. Well, he had 92rec for 1382yds and 12TDs. Was that not breaking out?

again, not directed at you. anyways, I agree with all of your points and Romo should be big against that Giants secondary.

I think I'm gonna go Romo. That Seattle D held Cam to 12/29 for 141 last year and he looked generally terrible. They are fast enough to keep up with him.

Thanks for the opinions!

I tried to get a start vs. sit thread but, oh well.

I'd go with Romo. I can see them vs. NYG being a bit of a shootout. The Giants haven't been as stout defensive as the years they won the Super Bowl, and they'll do their own fair share of scoring. I mean the Seahawks are arguably the best fantasy defense in the league, so I get nervous seeing anyone against them. I mean there'll be some garbage time stat padding, but it might come with an unhealthy bit of turnovers and struggle. Romo just seems safer.

Bradshaw vs. Oakland or Lacy vs. San Francisco?

Bradshaw is probable but his workload will be iffy, I hate Lacy's match up so I'm leaning toward Bradshaw.

I was looking for opinions on the exact same thing!! I keep switching between the two and can't decide. Bradshaw has the better matchup but he is expected to split carries with Ballard.

Who would you play this week?
Cam Newton at the SF (good defense)
or
Nick Foles at Green Bay (Foles is the model of inconsistency)
or
Romo at NO

Thoughts?

I'd start Romo for both of you guys because NO should be putting up some big points on the Dallas secondary ... not to mention the Cowboys throw a ton anyways.

I'd have to go Romo there, as well.

I have to choose three of the four:

DeMarco Murray vs. NO, Frank Gore vs. CAR, Mike James vs. MIA, Fred Jackson vs. PIT

Gore plays a tough D, Jackson shares carries, Murray has been a wild card lately, and James plays on the second worst team in the NFL.

I would probably play Gore, but I wouldn't blame you if you didn't.

I just think Gore's been that good this year that he warrants a start regardless of the match up.

That didn't work out. I did play Romo. Shoulda played Foles...I think I'll have to keep him in there until he has another stinker.

Same as above. Who do you start, and why?

Danny Woodhead (RB-San Diego) vs Miami

or

Gio Bernard vs our Brownies (try to be unbiased )

Browns run defense looks very good, both in fantasy-world, and on the field, but Gio Bernard has put up good points against other good run defenses. Woodhead doesn't usually as many points as Gio, but he's going against a slightly weaker front. He's also more used as a receiving option for Rivers, which I like vs the Phins.

Thanks!

Gio is the starter while Woodhead is the backup and Mathews has looked better recently. Just don't cheer for Gio while watching the Browns game.

This is my first season playing fantasy football, and what you said is, by far, the hardest part.

don't worry, you'll develop an "OFF" switch.

everyone has different ways, but I only join leagues that have Sunday-Tuesday waivers now so that I just can enjoy football on Sunday. I don't worry about fantasy football until Monday morning (putting in waiver requests).

pretty easy to disconnect mostly between enjoying it as a fan on Sunday and as a fantasy geek Mon-Fri

It usually eases the pain of a Browns loss when one of my fantasy players go off on them.

I actually don't like playing my guys if they are up against the Browns.

Our defense is pretty stout.

If Weeden was still the QB I'd consider picking up opposing defenses every week though

Big Week for me, I need a win. Want to get your thoughts

Here are my options:

Phillip Rivers vs Kansas City

Or

*Joe Flacco vs NY Jets

Also with AJ Green on a bye I need to start two Wide outs out of these four

*Jarrett Boykin vs MIN
*Micheal Floyd vs IND
Denarius Moore (had MRI on shoulder) vs TEN
Eddie Royal vs KC

*Who I was leaning towards.

I'd start Rivers twice and not even think about it. Rivers has been a lot more consistent this year. Plus if you factor in the wishy/washy season the Jets are having, they are due for a good game which means their defense will show up this time around.

The receivers you listed are a tough call. I may just go with Floyd. I have Royal on my roster and he's been a let down the last month.

I also have Rivers, but right now I'm leaning towards Keenum (vs. Jax). Thoughts?

But on the other hand Flacco has had two bad outing in a row so maybe he is due for a big game.

Thanks for your input

That one is a little tougher, I think Keenum has the potential for more points, but the safer pick would definitely be Rivers.

I had the same choice (Keenum vs.Ryan), went with Case. I've only got 1 nail left for my coffin this year, sure as hell not going to bet it on Ryan finally doing something. Case *could* throw up big numbers, Ryan probably won't.

I hate fantasy football...

I started Keenum, and Rivers absolutely lit up the Chiefs for 33 points. I know I'm a newbie to the fantasy football thing, but was I really supposed to expect Rivers to go off like that (#1 and #2 pass rushers for KC went down early in the game), and for Keenum to stink it up so bad vs the Jags? Ugh...

Despite all that, I'm still ~7 points ahead of the guy I'm playing. He's got Piere Garcon vs the Niners and I have one of the backup TEs from Washington (I was scrambling after it was confirmed Julius Thomas was out).

Do I even bother to hope that Garcon gets shut down tonight? Do any of the more experienced fantasy footballers know any good prayers/voodoo that I can use to help me win?

What's the projected outcome? Usually on the sites they have projected outcomes near the actual score, and as the games go along, they adjust it to what the odds say.

I'm glad you guys talked me out of Starting Flacco over Rivers. I won my week and moved into First Place in my Division.

There is a bottle neck at the top though, A win next week will give me a first round bye in the playoffs, A lost could knock me down to 8th place and out of the playoffs depending on other teams and Points Faired.

Ok, this one hits home...

My choice of QB this week is either Jason Campbell or Jay Cutler.

Cutler has been a stud when he played this year and it's why I didn't drop him when he went down. However, Chicago is in the midst of a playoff chase and need this game badly. If he starts slow or falters....it wouldn't surprise me to see them switch back to McCown.

And only 1 opposing QB has had a decent FF day at First Energy this year (Matt Stafford had a good fantasy day). Browns Def has played very well at home otherwise.

Cutler has the higher ceiling but higher risk.

Who would you start?

I pick up Kirk Cousins. Cutler reinjuring himself is pretty risky and I just can't find myself trusting a Browns quarterback in the playoffs.
