I hope you are right.

Getting off to a good start---in games and in the season---are huge for this team.

Using the past as a reference expectations have to be pretty low.

When you look at the talent and depth of the roster and then add a new coaching staff, with new schemes, playing in the AFC North; hard to have high expectations.

In addition, you look at Weeden. You expect improvement. But how much? Who knows? Based upon past performance there is plenty of room for improvement.

The new coaching staff? Seems like a good staff, but they have no experience with this roster and for the most part were not involved with selecting them.

What to expect? Growth over time as they get familiar to each other and the schemes they are implementing.

Talent, coaching and quarterback play go along way in the NFL based upon the past expectations can not be very high.

The AFC North is weak this year. I can imagine Cincy winning it in a walk. That being said, our division schedule is probably the weakest it's been since prior to the Browns departure. The rest of our schedule looks like we finally caught a break.

Agreed, not a significant number of good roster changes occurred in the off-season. Agreed, we have an unproven new scheme on both sides of the ball. Agreed, last year could not have been a whole heck of a lot worse.

We will see improvement in our record at the end of the year. Might even escape the sub .500 level and escape the cellar.

I hope it's a strong year for player development and everyone gets or stays healthy. I also hope this season is a strong confidence builder for our young team.

I'm riding that fence between optimism and pessimism but definitely not indifferent.

That said, GO BROWNS!
