If this is true, they should trade Tony G to KC for a pick or two, let Dominique Davis start the rest of the season, and draft Clowney.

That would be ideal for just about everyone involved.
Although, if I were Tony G, I'd rather be traded to New England than KC. Brady for Alex Smith........BRADY! And they need BIG help at TE right now.

Any number of contending teams would love to have Tony G right now ... Seattle, Green Bay, Kansas City, Miami, Baltimore, Houston

I dunno.... if I were him, and at the tail end of my career, I could very easily be swayed into returning "Home" to KC and a team that is contending now. It would be a nice way to end it all.

...And now the Falcons are concerned Roddy White may be lost for the season. Man, they can't get a break this year.
Roddy should have sat the first 3-4 weeks and got healthy. He hasn't been healthy all year and now he has a Hammy to go along with his High Ankle sprain. He's not helping the team and the sprain isn't getting better because he is not resting it. I would imagine not/limited participating in practice all week and then trying to go full speed on Sunday contributed to the Hammy pull as well.

I guess I'd ask you, looking at the teams leading the standings right now, who is more than likely going to go deep in the playoffs? KC and Alex Smith or NE and Tom Brady? I'd be chasing a title, not a title at home.
Heck, after Finley GB is rather weak at TE. Sign me up there.

Maybe a guy on the team that has no NFL future and went to an SEC school to play in the best bowl game as possible, but Clowney went to SC to prepare for his NFL future. With that future almost set in stone, his draft stock not his NFL playing career, I completely understand if he's being careful (IF that's what he's doing).
Specifically, Clowney sat out of practice all week with bruised ribs and the coaches knew about it. So I'm not sure why the Old Ball Coach gave him a hard time in the first press conference. Now, if you saw him yesterday, he backed off his stance that JC was quitting on the team and even went to far as say the whole university should be thankful he agreed to come there, gave the schools millions in revenue and even if he sits out the rest of the year, everyone should be grateful.
Clowney is sitting on a winning lottery ticket. He went to school to prepare for his future, he did that. I'm not saying he should never play for SC again. I'm saying, I'd understand and I wouldn't begrudge him if he chose to never play for SC again (or sat out a few random games here or there because of sore ribs or a tweaked knee).

Really? I'd still venture to bet that they end up with a better record than us and a chance to be 9-7 or so. But that's just me.

I think you are woefully misinformed about the situation down in SC. On top of that Clowney has a career and future to protect.

Kinda like Jerome Bettis and the Steelers miraculously making it the Super Bowl and winning the year the Super Bowl is played in Bettis' home town of Detroit, in the year he retires?
Or, like the year a team with the name "Patriots" come out of nowhere and excites and shocks the sports world with a QB-from-Nowhere and wins the Super Bowl after a bunch of retards fly planes into the World Trade Center.
Or, perhaps like the year the Saints went marching all the way to the promised land after their home turf was crushed by Katrina.
Yup, definitely could be scripted.

I dunno. I was watching Clowney get ripped to shreds on one of the college football shows this past weekend. They seemed to think that it was a rather minor injury, and that Clowney was 100% putting himself above the team. I want players who put the team above all else. Even Spurrier essentially said that Clowney was milking the injury, before he backed up on that position. People shredded Hillis for the way he acted with strep throat. This seems rather similar. Steve Spurrier shoots down doubts about Jadeveon Clowney - ESPN http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9792465/steve-spurrier-shoots-doubts-jadeveon-clowneyClowney didn't tell the coaches that he couldn't play last week against Kentucky until after the team arrived at the stadium. Afterward in his postgame press conference, Spurrier was clearly upset over the way it all went down. He said at the time that he would welcome Clowney back to "come play for the team if he wants." Spurrier then added, "But if he doesn't want to play, he doesn't have to play. Simple as that."

If all of this negative press on Clowney continues, some team later in the draft is going to get very lucky.

He also saw Marcus Lattimore's knee explode right in front of him, dropping him from a first round pick to a fourth.

I live in Columbia, SC and know people who have ties to the university and team. Clowney is irritating a lot of folks around these parts.
He is an amazing physical specimen, but he takes a lot of plays off, gambles on a ton of others, and this latest episode has got a lot of people riled up.
I think he falls in the draft. I think he is making poor decisions. I think his lack of work ethic and commitment are red flags.
One more thing...........did someone say that they wouldn't trade Gordon for Julio Jones? Really?

That's true. However, if he wants to bail on his team, then he should just quit and say that he is working on getting 100% healthy for the draft.
I think that he's not the same player as he was last year, because teams are more aware of him, and are making sure that he can't make the "easy" plays against them. Teams are running plays away from him, and his production is down. He has showed a lack of maturity by just laying down on a number of plays.
I would worry if I had a bad team and I wanted a leader to help bring us back to being a good team again .... because I really question whether or not he's that guy.

Well, this is wrong. He was the number 1 recruit in the country. His final selection list was SC, Alabama, and Clemson. He had the top scouting grade of a 95 that year as compiled by ESPN's scouting service. Second-ranked player was an 87. Everyone knew who he was and what he was capable of.
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/88794/jadeveon-clowney
The rest of that stuff, sure that's a concern, but he didn't sneak up on anybody last year. He dominated them.

Moved here 7 years ago. Lived in the Outer Banks for two years before that. I still have a home in Ohio and go back for the summers.
PM me when you come down and we'll hook up. It would be cool to meet you and have a few, especially if it is on a weekend. I really can't drink much during the week.

I just mean that he was so good last year that teams are specifically running away from him this year at an even greater clip. They are not going to let him beat them. I think that frustrates him.

He had many of the same issues last year as he does this year. They just weren't publicized as much. The bowl game changed things in terms of media coverage.

You're aware that Kubiak is holding steady with Schaub, right?
Schaub is making the Texans look horrible. He is single-handedly ripping that team down.

Maybe he's not as stupid as his actions may make him appear.
Having his stock drop will likely land him on a better team with better opportunities for winning.
It isn't like big rookie contracts are happening right now. He'll get his big payday after his rookie contract.

All I know is they've had a rough start to the year ... I guess I'm just saying that I think they're better than us. So if we are on the "edge" of contention, then they must be as well.

To replace Julio Jones the Falcons signed former Browns great Brian Robiskie. That should go well.

We have an identical record with the leader in our division. Houston is already 2 games back of the team leading their division.
They also have the Titans with a game on them (despite losing to them). That doesn't even include all the other teams (the Browns, Bengals, Ravens, Jets, Dolphins) that are ahead of them. This doesn't even consider teams like NE, Denver or KC. Right now, it looks like Denver and KC will both likely make the playoffs. That leaves Houston and all these other teams (plus others tied with Houston at 2-3) vying for the final WC spot.
You may not like to think it, but Houston is, for nearly all intents and purposes, done. As the old baseball adage goes, "You can't win the pennant in April but you sure can lose it." That applies to the NFL as well, to a greater extent because of the number of games played.

I just think it's premature to call them "done" right now. In terms of talent they are better than Tennessee (especially without Locker) and they still play the Colts twice right? I'm not saying they're better than Indy, but they still can control their own destiny in the division.
If I had to bet $1,000 on a team to make the playoffs ... Houston or Cleveland ... I'd pick Houston. JMHO of course.

If the Texans are that bad, they should be sellers in the market. I say we offer Billy Winn, Greg Little and a 3rd round pick for JJ Watt...
