Clearly this is from the mouth of Lombardi if La Canfora believes it.

Sad.
Schwartz may not be all-world, but he is definitely the absolute best we've had at that spot since Ryan Tucker and I do NOT understand trading that away for nothing more than the hope of finding something better.

I would take anything we could get for Little. Now that Gordon is back he is the 4th best receiving option on the team behind Gordon, Cameron, and Bess. Trade him and rotate that spot between Benjamin and either Gurley or Cooper (whoever is activated from the practice squad).
Little is talented but it seems like he will never put it all together. Another 2nd round pick wasted.
And because I am a Browns fan and must torture myself:
Greg Little was picked 59th overall. Randall Cobb was picked 64th.

I think they are just trying to get us a QB. Once that happens all of these rumors will subside.
Let's just hope they pick the right QB.

At this point I really wouldn't care if we drafted 10 QBs in the draft next year ... just get ONE franchise guy and end this charade

I think these 'rumors' need to be taken with a grain of salt. A lot of these guys use rumors to get page views, even if they're entirely made up.

Then why explicitly state Schwartz and Little?

Randall Cobb has Aaron Rogers. Greg Little doesn't. And even still the numbers are not that far off.
1650 Rec. yds and 11 TDs for Cobb.
1500 Rec. yds and 6 TDs for Little.
The TDs are the main difference...with Cobbs speed and a MVP QB surely helps. The main problem with Little is drops, we all know that. Even though both WRs have the same amount of receptions, 128 vs 130, Little has been targeted exponentially more early in his career because we used him as our #1 particularly in his rookie year. Cobb had Jennings, Driver, and Nelson as other legit options that took targets away.
The drops need to improve but I consider Little a very capable #2 WR. And at where he was drafted, that is fine with me.

Why? Why now? Schwartz was an above AVG RT as a rook already and after a very rocky start playing vs two All Pro pass rushers in Wake and Suggs AND next to a human turnstile in Cousins, he has picked his game up considerably the past games. Who do we have waiting that is as good? This may explain why we kept as many OL as we did. Maybe they love that UDFA from Temple? Wallace? He's only one of two "own" UDFA rooks who made the roster and he survived every bottom of the roster moves already despite being the 10th or 11th body we carry around there. Or do they think they can just plug in Butler there as a stop gap and get the same production? Like TRich-McGahee? The TRich trade was great value and he never was close to being an above AVG NFL RB, so a 1st was an incredible value, but I really don't like the idea of trading away a pretty solid, young pass blocking RT, who still has upside left to get even better in Schwartz. Maybe they don't value the position as much, maybe they want a stronger run blocker at RT, but man the timing is very odd again here. Why not trade him before the season? The value should be about the same now as then. We are 3-2, have a good enough D to stay in most games and an improving Offense. Let's try to win some games for a change and not talk draft and open up needs unnecessarily. As for Little, he looked better again as a WR2, that's what he is. Who would play there if we trade him? Benji sucks there and Bess' value takes a heavy hit when playing outside, he's just not effective there. We would downgrade WR2 and slot WR if we trade Little imho, not sure its worth the mid rounder we'd get at most at this point. The best value here looks to be to keep him, at least short term and since our record is what it is, I'd like to see our FO concentrate on THIS season too a bit. They really can't wait to put their stamp on this roster...at least that's the "vibe" I get from them since the season began. I really liked that they were patient with the roster, retaining most of the promising Heckert guys, so I'm a little confused by this. Maybe it's jsut their way to "motivate" players? I don't know, really.

We've traded one player, the rest is speculation, kind of hard to get mad at the FO for moves they aren't making.
How many of these reporters leaked the Trich trade prior to the deal being submitted to the league office for approval? I didn't see any. Now suddenly they have all this knowledge of the inner workings of the Browns FO?
I'd take a wait and see approach instead of getting all worked up every time one of these "reporters" links one of our players to a potential trade.

Man, I find myself thinking the same looking at this draft. It could have been a walk off grand slam HR: Taylor, Sheard, Cobb and Cameron...can you imagine? This draft is still looking pretty good, even with Little, with Skrine and Pinkston in the 5th on top of that, but damn it was almost perfect. If not for the mistake there and late in the 4th with Marecic it was a masterpiece of value drafting really.
I remember vividly how I screamed for either WR T.Smith or WR Cobb (OLB Moch was my 3rd guy, let's not talk about him )...I was so bummed when Ozzie took Smith right in front of us. I wanted an uptrade for him right after the Sheard pick, total bummer. Then we picked Little over Cobb. I DID understand why, as we needed an outside WR much more than a slot guy, but was disappointed with the selection non the less. We had nothing at WR, Massa and Robo lol, maybe Robo was already cut though, don't remember. As inconsistent as Little has been, he looked a lot better than those two as a rook already, but since those two are out of the league now, that's not saying much.

#2 wide receivers are pretty easy to come by. Little is the exact same player now that he was when he came into the league. Some would even say he is worse. He is our fourth receiving option behind Gordon, Cameron, and Bess.
Since Gordon has come back (three games) Little has had six catches for 90 yards. In the Bengal game he had zero catches. We could get the same or better production from a combo of Gurley/Benjamin right now and get a pick for Little.
While your stat comparison is fun, ask anyone which player they would rather have right now and everyone would take Cobb.

I'm not even going to compare Little to Cobb because Cobb is clearly better, but I definitely like having Little at WR2 just for size and ability alone. I think his value is so low at this point his production on the field this year for this team far outweighs what a potential draft pick would yield.

Of course you're right, nothing done yet. I'm not mad or criticizing them, really. I'm just confused about this. We will see what happens the next 3 weeks. I hope whatever they do is dependent on what we do in those games. If we lose the next 2 or 3 games, it'd make more sense, but if we sit at 4-4 or better I want them trying to value winning this season more than some virtual ammunition for whatever they plan (and cant be planned yet) in the future. Do you know how difficult it is to draft an above AVG or even AVG OT these day? Ask the Steelers who have blown early rounders for bums like Adams and Gilbert and even DeCastro at G. Even Eric Fisher looks lost in KC and remember 1st overall pick OT Smith in STL? You just don't let a solid OT go away for some draft hopeful

You have to have more production out of your second round pick than Little has provided.

I disagree.
the main difference is their overall numbers are similar while Greg Little got a 1.5 year headstart. Cobb had to wait his turn behind Jennings. When Greg got hurt last year and Cobb got the chance to shine, GB let Jennings walk.
as such, Cobb has started 11 games to Little's 30 games. now, look at those numbers again. we can bring out their last 12-16 games as a comparison point as well if necessary.

I'd take (and would have taken) Cobb over Little too, but it's really hard to compare those two since they've been in totally different situations and teams. Cobb has a Top5, maybe even the best, QB throwing his way in a high powered Offense with a lot of other weapons, whereas Little was forced to be a WR1 or 2 fairly quickly with bad and inconsistent QB play. Who knows how (if at all) Cobb would have "developed" as a Brown and vice versa with Little...
Bust or not, we got 3 players out of that draft who are good at very valuable positions now (DT/NT, DE/OLB and TE) and still have STUD ceiling there. Add in some contributors who hover around solid/AVG with Skrine and Pinkston and we're talking about as good a draft any team can hope for.

It might be good fodder for fansite talk, but all this trade bs is really becoming tiresome to me. When, when, when will Browns fans ever get to finally relax and watch a season play out?

This- right here.
As I see it, you play every single game to win... and make your FO earn its reputation with whatever picks it has. Everybody has a job to do. Players play; FO stocks the shelves. Stockpiling picks only makes sense if a team needs wholesale change everywhere. We are no longer that team.

Thank you. Nowhere did it say we'd trade them for a ham sandwich. If the deal is right they can be had. I'd suspect only Thomas is untradeable. I'd take a second rounder for Little in a heart beat. If someone wanted to give a first or maybe even a second for Schwartz I'm thinking you can find his talent level later in the draft. That would aslo be a good deal. They're looking at soft spots on the starting roster that have value to desperate teams. IMO, those are two legitimate soft spots. Whether we admit it or nor not the FO is not taking this year seriously. It's all about next years draft.

I really don't get the morbid fatalism some fans have about these rumors.
This front office didn't like the Schwartz pick, and frankly, he hasn't played all that well this year. I think that want more of a mauler type RT, and that's not Schwartz. People chalked up the Browns statement that they would have had a possible interest in Monroe to possibly moving him or Schwartz to Guard .... but I don't think so. I think that they want a new RT who fits their vision of what a RT should be. I would not be surprised if we traded Schwartz and plugged in one of the youngsters we've had working with the team since the start of the year.
I don't care who we keep and who we trade, as long as we win games. That is the bottom line for me.
As far as Little, I had hoped that he had turned the corner last year, but he did get off to a really rocky start this season. I think that the front office has probably had it up to their eyeballs with his driving and the constant distractions that go along with it.
People freaked out about the Richardson trade, and we went and won 3 in a row after that.
Overall, things have turned out a lot better so far this year than a lot of people thought that they would. How many people would have really thought that we could have started out 3-2 this season? How many would have thought that if they knew that we were going to trade Trent? I trust this front office and coaching staff more and more as the weeks go by, and as their decisions gain even more perspective. If they trade a player, even a player I like, I am inclined to trust them with the decision, especially if they get great value, as they did for Richardson.

Well, we can all debate whether or not these two (and add Gordon into this mix) deserve to be traded until we are blue in the face, but the larger issue I have is the players shouldn't have to be hearing RUMORS that three of their starters are on the trade block in week 6 after winning three in a row and momentum is building. This team has been playing extremely well considering some tough challenges so far into the season. Whoever/However this information is being gathered by the media can only hurt their focus and attention on Detroit.

What has Banner established all along? He is going to keep pressure on the players. He's not looking to break them, but rather to make sure they won't break. If a player loses it because there is a rumor that he might be traded, then how is he going to respond to the pressure of a playoff chase, or even a Super Bowl run? He wants pressure on the players so that they are hardened and strong. He puts that same pressure on himself. he has said all along that if he doesn't get his job done that he won't be around. No big deal. Hell, if a player plays like crap in a game because he heard rumors he might be traded ..... and I'm the next opponent to play him .... I'm starting a rumor again that he might be traded. Players have to learn to shut all of that stuff out. Is it easy? No. However, they get paid millions of dollars to deal with it. I would guess that it's much easier for a player to deal with potentially being traded while playing for millions of dollars than it is for ordinary workers to so do their jobs while rumors of their facility being moved or closed swirl.

I'm not misinterpreting anything. Banner put a lot of pressure on Gordon and Weeden in the off-season. He did so with the specific and stated intention of needing to know how they would respond to the pressure.

He did put pressure on them....in the manner I provided above. It's unfortunate if leaking trade rumors is a part of that. I don't think it's necessary. Again, if that's what you are implying...

If I were a player, and there were trade rumors surrounding me, I would take that to mean that a team out there really wanted me. I would play my butt off to prove to that team that they should trade for me, and to prove to my current team there there is no way they should consider trading me.
Like I said ..... if I'm Green Bay, and I see Little, for example, get blown up over these trade rumors, then I make a quick call to see what the Browns might want for him, and then send somebody low on the totem pole out to be the "source" that the Browns are still working on trading Little. Is it fair? Nope. Do I think that teams could do that if they thought that they could get into a player on the opposing team's head? You bet. NFL players have to be tough and accept that 90% of what they hear is not always the truth. They cannot lose their heads over every trade rumor. Could the Browns release these rumors to help toughen up a particular player? Sure. If they are unsure of a player and need one last piece of evidence as far as whether or not to keep a guy, such a scenario could provide the final proof.

And I am not buying that the pwaers feewings are going to be so hurt that they can't pway effectiveweee.

I'm with you on this one.
Richardson (at least it seems at this point) was shipped out because they got good value for him, and we were able to simply plug in another guy fairly easily to maintain the same performance. You could say that Little is in a similar position. There are a couple guys that could feasibly fill in for Little.
I don't think that's the case with Schwartz. I don't see a guy that we could drop in the RT spot vacated by Schwartz that would give us the same performance. He got off to a rocky start this year, but a couple games aren't going to change my view of him after the very positive season he had last year.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
