Thats because there is only one winner. This isn't grade school where everyone gets a trophy no matter how bad you play.
Thanks for telling me this isn't grade school. I didn't realize that.
Too many people never played the game. They listen to all these stupid talk shows and think there is only one winner. That's stupid.
You work your butt off and you try your best. You play to win games. So is everyone else. I don't believe in the BS about there is only one winner and everyone else is a loser. That is a stupid media perspective that most fans have bought into.
You can be unhappy about Ohio State. I am very disappointed and upset that they lost, but I am not about to call them failures. I am not about to crucify Meyer. I am still proud that year in and year out, Ohio State is one of the top teams in the country.

I know you don't care for Ohio State, so I think it is really impressive how you are not rubbing the loss in our faces and are actually being cool. Thanks.

If anyone ever deserved their faces rubbed in it, it's Ohio State fans.
I've never come across a more obnoxious and annoying fan base in my life.
I listen to a lot of Cleveland sports talk in my office, but I had to give it a rest this week. I couldn't take anymore of these clowns whining about how there's a bias against them.
If a fan base is going to cry from the rooftops about how unfair it is that your team is criminally underrated, they should be prepared for the mockery that comes when they lose to the first decent team they've played all year.

Well everyone on here was saying how overrated Clemson is when talking about FSUs schedule.
Time for Ohio State to prove it
This game is a lose-lose.
If OSU wins "well it's just Clemson pulling a Clemson."
I don't buy that. Clemson is a good team. If OSU wins, it's a good win no matter if they are favored.
Some good games in store. The SEC has 10 teams in a bowl......unfortunately, not mine.....the Gators sucked this year. Much was due to a boatlaod of injuries, but none the less, we were pitiful the last 3-4 games. That isn't going to fly for long. Muschump better get it done next year or he is Zooked.

He made some bad calls, no doubt, but he did also put 24 on the board, and not in garbage time.
You can't fall down 17-0 in any game let alone a big game like that. To fire back 24 straight was amazing. I mean they had that entire building rocking. They could not make the 2 or 3 plays they needed to make, and overall, they didn't play well enough to win.
Pat Shurmur would have been out of that game by halftime.
If you took all the garbage points away, where the defense was playing back, I bet Shurmur's offensive numbers for his team would be historic.
You completely missed what my point was.
Michigan State knew that the Buckeyes were going to run the ball. When Meyer has Braxton Miller alone in the backfield, they know that it's Braxton Miller running the ball. Period. Meyer had even given away the possibility of the option play. There wasn't anything else for Michigan State to think about and when Braxton Miller was the alone in the backfield, the lesser quality runner was the one with the ball.
I'm sorry to tell you guys this, but Meyer is overrated as a coach. If Braxton Miller is the Buckeyes QB next season, he's making a mistake. He should at least transfer out so that he has a chance to play in the NFL.
No QB of a Meyer run offense should ever be on an NFL team, much less drafted. Kenny Guiton has the skills, but look at where he's projected to get selected - and it's because he's been diminished in the eyes of NFL teams because he's been under Meyer for the past two seasons. It probably actually doesn't diminish it as much being the back-up QB in a Meyer coached system. He is a QB destroyer and relies WAY too much on the mobility of his QBs.
Urban Meyer isn't even an above average college coach. Sure, he won a national title at Florida but that was an anomaly, not the norm for Meyer. It pains me to say it but I cannot see Ohio State wining a championship under Meyer. I bought into the hype about Meyer when he was hired. Seeing those coaching in that game against Michigan and then again against Michigan State.

Yes, he's not above average. He's been outcoached more than once this season and was lucky to win a few of those games.
How does an above average coach get the lead running the ball with his primary RB and then abandon it afterward? That was a Shurmuresque move and he deserves every bit of criticism for it. It was pure stupidity on Meyer's part to abandon the run by his RB.
Sorry man. That's moronic. Maybe Meyer just became stupid all of a sudden, but it isn't the first time it's happened. I can't think of any coach worth a damn that would have done what Meyer did in such a crucial game. He proved the Buckeyes critics correct.

Okay, two national titles. Big deal. Tressel won more national titles at Ohio State and Youngstown State at different levels of college football. Does it make him better than Meyer? A case could actually be made for it.

How is that rubbing anyone faces in anything?
You have a serious inferiority complex regarding Ohio State.

Two BCS national titles in non-consecutive seasons....meaning he didn't ride the same upperclassmen talent for a second year. Your argument for an anomaly is just plain wrong.....let alone his not even being an above average coach. Trying to spin this into a Meyer vs. Tressel debate isn't bolstering your position.

Meyer is an excellent college coach. He knows what it takes to win at that level. That his QBs don't translate in the NFL is far more of an indictment of the disparity between the college and pro games than it is about Meyer's abilities to do his job.
The best thing that could happen for OSU is for Braxton Miller to enter the upcoming draft. Unfortunately, that's probably the worst thing that could happen for Braxton Miller and so it probably won't happen.

ok, let's take a look at the step by step process.
BG year before Meyer 2-9 BG w/ Meyer 8-3, then 9-3 coaches in BG history with a better winning% = 0
Utah year before Meyer 5-6 Utah w/ Meyer 10-2, 12-0 (*first ever non-AQ conference BCS bid)
Florida year before Meyer 7-4 Florida w/ Meyer 9-3, 13-1, *13-1, 9-4, *13-1, 8-5

What coach gives the ball to his QB on planned QB run after planned QB run play-after-play? The only possible explanation is that Carlos Hyde was injured but Carlos Hyde was lining up in the slot.
Sorry man, he thought he was being cute and smart when he was being more stupid than Pat Shurmur.
The biggest stage in the world and to put all the criticisms to bed once and for all and he pulls that? That's his brilliance!? Bwahahahaha!
Whatever you say then. I'll eat the plate of crow as soon as Meyer wins a national title at Ohio State. In my view, they could be 12-0 and they'd find themselves ranked in the middle of the pack in the rankings. He threw away two seasons of continuous wins away with his coaching job the past two weeks.

It won't matter when Miller enters the draft (if he even does). He will go unselected. No NFL team will even take a flyer on him.

best win% of any HC in BG football history best win% of any HC in Utah football history 2nd best win% of any HC in Florida football history (81.3% to Spurrier's 81.7%) best win% of any HC in Ohio State football history
Man, what a terrible coach.

The only thing about Meyer I worry about is the fact that I think he could retire or jump to the NFL.
I don't want to get left out to dry, although the OSU job is a top 2-3 job in the country that opens up on average only once every 10 years or so.
Keep in mind he went 24-1 without the benefit of his own players. While the players he has aren't chopped liver, they may not be the exact type of players he wants.
He always lands good quarterbacks though. I want to see what he can bring in the next year or two. I think Braxton sticks around a year.

Not terribly busy at work so let's look at this hypothesis.....
OSU Drive #1 Score 3-0 MSU Hyde run 6 yards Hyde run 2 yards Miller pass incomplete Punt
OSU Drive #2 Score 3-0 MSU Hyde run 5 yards Hyde run 9 yards Miller pass complete 1st down Miller pass incomplete Miller run 1 yard Miller sacked Punt
OSU Drive #3 Score 10-0 MSU Miller pass 1 yard Miller pass 9 yards 1st ôown Miller run 11 yards Hyde run 2 yards Miller run 1 yard Miller sacked Punt
OSU Drive #4 Score 17-0 MSU Hyde run 2 yards Miller run 48 yards Mill pass 11 yards Hyde run 3 yards Miller pass 20 yards TD
OSU Drive #5 Score 17-7 MSU Miller run 21 yards Miller pass incomplete Miller pass incomplete Miller run 4 yards Punt
OSU Drive #6 Score 17-7 MSU Miller sacked Miller run 15 yards Hyde run 8 yards Pass incomplete Miller pass 36 yards Pass incomplete FG
Halftime
OSU Drive #7 Score 17-10 MSU Miller pass incomplete Hyde run 18 yards Hyde run 6 yards Miller run 24 yards Hyde run 3 yards Miller pass 11 yards Miller run 8 yards (TD)
OSU Drive #9 Score 17-17 Hyde run 11 yards Miller pass incomplete Miller run 5 yards Miller pass incomplete Punt
OSU Drive #10 Score 17-17 Hyde run 10 yards Miller run 7 yards Hall run 13 yards Hyde run 8 yards Miller run 6 yards (TD)
OSU Drive #11 Score 24-20 OSU Miller pass 3 yards Hyde run 12 yards Miller pass incomplete Hyde run 6 yards Miller run 0 yards Punt
OSU Drive #12 Score 27-24 MSU Miller run 0 yards Hyde run 4 yards Miller pass incomplete Punt
OSU Drive #13 Score 24-17 MSU Miller run 4 yards Hyde run 3 yards Miller run 1 yard Miller run 1 yards TO on downs
OSU Drive #14 Score 24-17 MSU Miller run 12 yards Miller pass incomplete Miller pass incomplete Miller pass incomplete Miller pass incomplete TO on downs
End of game
So let's recap.. During the 3 possessions when OSU was falling behind by 17 points... Hyde 5 rushes for 24 yards (4.8 ypc) Miller 3 rushes for 13 yards (4.3 ypc) Miller 3 for 5 for 20 yards passing and sacked twice (4.0 ypa)
During the next 6 drives when OSU was scoring 24 unanswered points... Hyde 9 rushes for 69 yards (7.6 ypc) Miller 8 rushes for 133 yards and 2 TDs (16.6 ypc) Hall 1 rush for 13 yards (13 ypc) Miller 4 for 7 for 78 yards and 1 TD and 1 sack (11.1 ypa)
During the next 4 drives when OSU failed to score again.... Hyde 4 rushes for 25 yards (6.25 ypc) Miller 4 rushes for 16 yards (4.0 ypc) Miller 1 for 6 for 3 yards passing and 1 sack (0.5 ypa)
Draw your own conclusions... but in each of the segments of the game, falling behind, coming back, then failing to score, the play selection looks about the same.. the big difference is that when you were scoring, Miller was running for big chunks of yards...
The only play I agree with you about is the 4th and 2.. MSU had not stopped Hyde all night from getting 2 yards.. he should have gotten the ball on that play..

Miller carried them through that game. However, they just didn't have enough in the passing game. MSU's secondary is very very good, maybe the best in the country.
I totally agree that Hyde should have gotten the ball on the crucial 4th down play. However, Hiermann missed his block, because otherwise I think Miller gets the first. Still would not have loved the play call. I would have lived with the result of having my 230 pound halfback take it up the gut. You can count on 1 hand how many times he was tackled for a loss the entire year.
Also, Mack Brown is stepping aside at Texas, let the Saban circus begin.

Saban makes no sense at Texas. A control freak uber-aggressive coach in the culture here makes little sense and a HUGE part of the Texas job is kissing booster heiney (which isn't exactly a Saban thing).

If you're Texas and that's your culture, but your football team has been down for a while, do you cater to a guy like that? I don't think UT necessarily needs Saban, and he certainly doesn't need them, but that guarantees you back to prominence within 2 years.
I don't understand why they haven't backed up the Brinks van to Art Briles' house in Waco yet.

Art Briles did just sign an extension with Baylor that has a specific "Texas" clause in it, but I agree that they should try for him anyway. Texas HS football is all spread at this point, so they should find a spread HC to cater to the talent in the area.
Bigger name possibilities: Dabo Swinney (Clemson) Charlie Strong (Louisville) David Cutcliffe (Duke) possibly D'Antoni (Mich State) - but he doesn't seem the right type of coach Dave Doeren (NoIll)
But, the guy I want to see them hire:
Mark Hudspeth - big string of success at North Alabama and now Louisiana Lafayette. I think he'd be a good hire in the Art Briles style (he's gone HS to DII to lower level DI and had success everywhere).

Does his contract say he can't go to Texas? That's hilarious, and pretty smart on Baylor's part. He'd be an incredible hire for that program.
I hate seeing Texas down, college football is better when they are a top 10 program.

I don't actually know what his contract syas but usually a coach that signs a contract witha school always negotates and out claus if his dream job comes up.
Example when Billy Donavon signed on as the Florida Gators coach he had an out claus if the Kentucky job became available. But, when it did he had so much success at Florida and liked the school so much he did not use it.
Most coaches have a claus similar to that. It does not always get used but they are there. So if he has a Texas claus it is probably a claus that allows him to get out of his contract with no penalty only if tghe Texas job was offered him.

it's the opposite actually. it says something like a $10-20mil penalty if he leaves for Texas. it's a much lighter penalty if he leaves for anywhere else.

Is that the dream-crusher poison pill?
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

From what I was watching, I thought CJ was out of position quite a few times in that last game. Actually the interception he had, if the QB would've pump faked he would've had a easy TD to the receiver that was running a post in the area CJ was covering, just look like he was taking too many risks to me…and got lucky on one of them

Barnett is a SS playing FS because Christian Bryant got hurt. They moved Barnett over to FS and put Pitt Brown in at SS. Barnett played really well at SS before Bryant got hurt.
The problem was Pitt Brown played terrible most of the year, he only made a couple plays (really only the INT against PSU comes to mind). I would have rather seen Tyvis Powell back there instead and let Pitt play his normal nickel position.

Agree w/this.
Barnett is a good SS. He was playing out of position.
Pit Brown stinks.

I live in South Bend does that count ^^
You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.
