And just like that, FSU takes the lead on a 100+ yard KO return!

What a strange game. lol

PI in the end zone.

That would have been a TD.

1st and goal from the 2.

Game ain't over yet.

Man, I don't even care who wins this game. lol

Great game.. Gus had his team seriously prepared and fired up and FSU just looked overwhelmed early on.. Jimbo and the fake punt is the play of the game...

After that it pretty much played out like most people expected... Jameis is the real deal, this is his first year as a starter as a redshirt freshman, to come out and do that in the final 2 minutes... Wow...

If his WRs could hang onto the ball he wouldn't have needed the last drive. Great game on bOth sides.

He just might be one of the greatest college QB of all time before he moved on to the NFL ..... and he just might be a great one there too.

He just plays the game like it comes to him so easily.

Yup, that fake punt really flipped the momentum. Gutsy call.

How did the refs miss the horsecollar tackle on the last drive? Insane!

Great game to watch.

And yeah, my streak of predictions is not 100%. Oh well.

Evidently the same way they missed the guy holding the WR in the first quarter and the guy who grabbed Winston's facemask right in front of him a little later...

Forgot about that one too.

On the replay, they showed a ref running behind the play and he was looking right at it.

The more I see refs destroy the game, the more I'm convinced there are just too many rules. I know we can pick simple stuff out but these guys are also counting players coming in and out of the huddle, watching the lines for flinches, watching the formations, who's eligible, who left the line to block downfield too early, etc. Maybe a debate for another thread.

2) STL Teddy Bridgewater, QB Louisville
3) JAX Blake Bortles (lol), QB UCF

4) CLE Derek Carr, QB Fresno St
27) CLE (f/ IND) Allen Robinson, WR Penn St
35) CLE Lamarcus Joyner, CB Florida St
71) CLE Shayne Skov, ILB Stanford
83) CLE (f/ PIT) Carlos Hyde, RB Ohio St
103) CLE Terrence Brooks, FS Florida St
123) CLE (f/ IND) Josue Matias, OG Florida St
138) CLE Corey Linsley, OC Ohio St
177) CLE Preston Brown, ILB Louisville
217) CLE Ethan Westbrooks, DE West Texas A&M
253) CLE (comp) Chandler Jones, WR San Diego St

If the first three go like that (especially if JAX takes Carr over Bortles) then I would probably try to trade back from 4 to 6 or 7, selling off Clowney for an extra 3rd and taking big Gabe for the RG spot.

Not sure about Carr yet, but like the rest of this mock, even though I do not know anything about the last 2 guys. P.Brown impressed me in the Bowl game, but for some reason I thought he could not be elegible, because I thought he'd be ranked much higher if he was, lol. Good 3-4 ILB spec. How come you know so many WestT AM specs? Do you get to see them?

I never did go back and comment on the Clemson/OSU game... If anybody watched it and still has any questions about my man-crush on Sammy Watkins, I don't know what to tell you...

I only saw a little bit of the game. The only catches I saw Watkins make were bubble screens that he took for big yardage. That OSU never figured out that they need to cover. He may have had some catches downfield but not that I saw in the limited.

Can you fill me in on how many catches for how many yards he had not counting those quick Wr screens?

I will give you that he did look explosive on those Wr screens.

and the Buckeyes never stopped it, so Clemson did little else. He did have a leaping TD catch as well over a DB.

Well, I've only talked about 3 WTA&M guys ever... Khiry Robinson {who ran for 45 yards on 8 carries Sat night for the Saints} last year, who I saw in person at the Texas vs. The Nation game (which was cancelled this year, btw ). Manase Foketi, the LT from WTA&M last year who was a Kansas St transfer who was an excellent player before he had his troubles and had to leave KSU, and then Westbrooks, who was DII defensive player of the year last year. His production fell off a bit this year but his size and pass rush ability is too good to ignore... definitely worth a late flyer. He could play 4-3 DE or 3-4 DE.

The only other DII guy I've seen that's available this year that's intriguing to me is Larry Webster from Bloomsburg. He played in one of the All-Star games last year somehow and looked really good rushing the passer. He crushed again this year, dominating his (admittedly lesser) competition. He's more of a 3-4 OLB type than anything else, but he's a bit on the light side (240?)... I figure we've already got a souped-up version of him in Mingo which is why I haven't talked about him much since last offseason.

Chandler Jones, San Diego St WR impressed me in the game vs. Fresno. He was Fales go-to guy in that game and had good shake to get open. I see him as a really nice slot receiver option. I figure with outside guys Gordon and Robinson, we could add more competition inside for 3 and 4 WR sets.

Florida State proved last night that SOS doesn't mean much. Just play 1 tough team to get you prepared.

so did Michigan State in the Rose Bowl. Stanford may have played the toughest schedule in the country heading into that game but it didn't look to matter much.

I think what was proven is that SOS is a highly subjective measure... as Oklahoma beat up Alabama, Nebraska beat Missouri, Duke went toe to toe and probably should have beaten Texas A&M, Iowa hung right with LSU, etc... maybe Auburn's schedule wasn't the end all be all it was cracked up to be... and maybe FSU's wasn't a cake walk...

I'm really not an SEC basher, I think it is the best conference, but I don't think the step to the next tier of conferences is this gaping chasm that some people have it made out to be.

I think college football as a whole was down.

The Big Ten had MSU and OSU. MSU is a top 3 team. Ohio State is probably right around 10.

The ACC had FSU and Clemson.

The SEC had Auburn, Mizzou, and Bama. Don't tell me about A&M and LSU, those teams had nice wins, but also had bad, sloppy games, and multiple losses. Sorry, but you don't get credit because you play in a conference or lost games to good teams. That's my biggest beef with college football is that you somehow should get points because you lost to someone good. You still lost.

The Pac 12 had Stanford and Oregon.

The Big 12 had really Baylor and OU.

Of all the teams I listed, ALL had major flaws with the exception of FSU. FSU's schedule was horrible, so they were never really exposed, but they were the only real complete team.

I would have loved to have seen what Dantonio's group could have done in that playoff this year. It would have been interesting. That defense is legit, and they had a hot QB. Good news for them is that they should come back really strong next year. That regular season matchup, whenever it is, with OSU is going to be HUGE.

All I know is that Gus totally outcoached Jimbo.

Man, he exploited so many of Florida State's weaknesses, both offensively and defensively. It's been a long time since I have been as impressed w/a coaching job as I was w/the job Gus did in this bowl game.

It would be great if he became a Brown.

Gus definitely had the better plan going into the game. But, I was very impressed with how Jimbo reacted to it and adjusted both his offense and defense to stop what Auburn wanted to do.

I thought that moth coaches had solid game plans, and that both teams played really, really well. It was a game that could have ended with either team on top, and as a football fan without any stake in the game, it was a fun game to watch.

Matter of fact, I think this past weekend provided us with some of the most entertaining football games in years... college AND pros.

I wouldn't mind Gus as our coach... I think he had his team more prepared emotionally when the game started.. not sure his game plan was that much better but FSU just looked rattled from the start, almost like they were just happy to be there.. I think the smartest thing he did was, he knew FSU would be all geared up to stop the run and he came out throwing.. it really seemed to confuse FSU and he got some big plays out of it.... but from the fake punt forward, So from about the 3 minutes remaining mark of the 2nd quarter, FSU outscored Auburn 31-10... So Jimbo definitely deserves some credit for adjustments, getting his team refocused, whatever he did, it worked.

I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that if the Browns took a 21-10 lead into halftime of the superbowl, after dominating almost the entire half... and then got beat because a rookie QB took his team 83 yards in under a minute and a half for the game winning TD, nobody on here would be praising the coach...

We'd be out in the streets with pitchforks and torches looking for the guy who cramped up on the kick returned for a TD...

I know people are concerned about the o-line. However trust me, these guys are very talented. They are all massive, nasty, and with the exception of Boren, very athletic. They do have the same flaws though. They need to improve technique and experience. In 2 years they may be the best o-line we've ever has as a unit. Yes, I'm comparing them to o-lines that had Orlando Pace. Projecting next years o-line:

LT- Taylor Decker / Daryl Baldwin
LG - Evan Lisle / Demetrius Knox
C - Jacoby Boren / Billy Price
RG - Patrick Elfein / Antonio Underwood
RT - Kyle Dodson / Jamarco Jones

I posted scouting reports to confirm what I said. All of them have a nastiness / mean streak to them. No more fat softies like Shugarts and Adams.

Taylor Decker - http://ohiostate.scout.com/a.z?s=145&p=8&c=1&nid=4414589

Evan Lisle - http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=5437671

Jacoby Boren - http://ohiostate.scout.com/2/1153600.html

I kind of forgot that Baldwin played in 12 games and I forgot about Chase Farris. He's probably our most athletic linemen.

I'm going to lock this thread, anyone can feel free to start a new one. When we decided to go with unlimited pages we were not aware of how this would effect people accessing the board on phones, etc. It's not working for those folks at all.

We will now be locking threads at 10 pages, and as always, posters can start a new thread if there is still interest in discussing the topic.
