Sounds like a backdoor, underhanded way of putting the Falcons on the spot to either go ahead and try to trade him to a contender or look like a selfish bunch of jerks who wanted to watch him spend the last leg of his career looking up at better teams. What a tool.

Maybe, but doesn't it seem logical that the Falcons get something back since this year is totally shot, and chances are high that Gonzo is retired at year's end?
I could see Andy Reid being on board with bringing in TG. And if ATL could get a 4/5 round pick, don't you immediately pull the trigger?

Of course it does, I'm pretty sure Gonzo has said this is his last year and I doubt they do anything out of total altruism, of course they are going to want something back.. and it really is an 8+ game rental so the Chiefs (or whoever) would have to think they have a really good chance to win it all this year.

And that 8 game trade would also determine the price, which may not be all that great for Atlanta. I'm not giving up anything big for a rental. It's not like KC is out shopping.

Assuming he actually retires. Didn't he say last year was his last year?  They should trade him to a contender if you believe in the "aging HOFamer without a ring is a tragedy" theory. They shouldn't trade him if they still think there's an outside chance of getting into the playoffs, which there still is although it's extremely unlikely, or they just want to keep the best team on the field for an entertaining product. Up to them.

I can't see them getting into the playoffs. the NFC is stacked. They're the third best team in their own division right now. I think Carolina is underrated as a team, and I can see them being in the race until the end.
They've kinda dodged the big bullet for a few years now, it was bound to bite them and they got hit HARD this year. If I'm Tom Dimitroff, I'd have been on the phone weeks ago shopping TG.

I'd hate to see him go to KC, i think KC is fools gold to be honest..yeah they are 8-0, but they haven't played anyone yet. If they ship him to a contender and he got to pick, denver/seattle are the teams I'd be trying to get to

It's still mathmatically possible for them to make the playoffs, that's all I'm saying. Some GMs, coaches and players want the best team available until they're officially eliminated.
There's a 1% chance they get in, but I can see them fighting until it's over.
Plus, like I said, maybe they don't care about the "Tony needs a ring" storyline. Maybe they don't care about getting an extra 5th rounder and want to put an exicting offense on the field even if they're elminated.
