if we end up in a direct tiebreaker situation with KC at the end of the season, then i'm okay with it because the next 2 months of football would have been worth it.

I don't understand why everybody is acting like a team with a losing record through more than half the season only needs to win one or two key games to be in the playoff hunt or get into the playoffs. I still don't trust this to be a playoff caliber team and their 4-5 record strengthens that doubt. Realistically, they probably can't afford to lose more than two more games to have a shot at the playoffs. 8-8 won't cut it. We need to be a lot more worried about all of the remaining games, not just those against the Bungals and Bears.

(1) the AFC sucks this year

(2) we are 4-5 despite Weeden playing the majority of snaps in 5 of those games

(3) we have a relatively weak schedule the rest of the way

A ton of things would have to break in our favor and it is not likely we actually make the playoffs. But, yes, we are in contention for them as of today (1 game back of the Jets and we play the Jets in December).

all we have to do is win our division and we're in.

While it's nice that we're playing well, I worry about overlooking the steelers and jaguars. We always seem to play down to Jacksonville's level.

I think we still have a clunker or two left in our system this season.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

as long as TB keeps losing, JAX has to match them

Definitely. I think we are the least of KC's worries though. If they start dropping games, they may have a few other teams above us to worry about.

I still think their defense is too good to start any kind of bad streak. They are no doubt going to drop a few in that remaining schedule, but I still think they are probably 12 or 13 wins at the end of the year.

Plus, Arrowhead is historically tough for visiting teams in the month of December.

Can't wait for a week from Sunday when we get Chiefs/Broncos on SNF.

I hope that's a good game, but I keep coming back to two thoughts:

(1) No matter how good your defense is, Denver is going to score on them

(2) I don't think KC can keep up in a shootout.

I see us being too far behind Cincy to think we can win the division right now. Looking at Cincy's wins their wins against Buffalo, Green Bay, and Detroit were VERY lucky ... granted they did win them, but they probably should have lost at least 2 of the 3. If that were the case ... this would be a MUCH different story for us.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

We are only 2 games behind them, It will take a little luck but we can not only catch them but surpass them.. It's doable

It IS doable. The Browns can control only one thing: The Browns games.

They can't focus on other teams. Each team plays the schedule the league puts out. That's what we have to do......focus on winning OUR games. The other teams fall outside of our "control" zone.

few different replies in here:

1st Browns aren't gonna overlook the Steelers and Jags, they may be salivating like my Huskie when I am frying deer tenderloin but they wont overlook anyone. To much losing for that to happen.

2nd Cinn has the best OL of any team we have left and without Whitworth they are whitworthless.

3rd Composure and confidence. Look sometimes all it takes is for a team to have a little confidence in a QB to do great things. See Gannon and Dilfer during their runs. These guys believe in Campbell. The win over the ravens and his play against the chiefs have these guys believing they can go not just into a game and win but into the playoffs and win

We have no idea if #3 is true at all, honestly. For all we know, the team thinks he got lucky for a couple of weeks and have great doubt in him moving forward.

You may be right but I must lean the other way on this. And yes, it's only from the eye test.

I saw how this team played with Weeden at QB. Bess and Little as prime examples, didn't seem focused, dropped ball and the team in general didn't seem energized.

We watched that same team play last week in Campbell's second start and they seemed to play at a high and very intense level.

I strongly feel when a team believes they have someone in there at QB they believe can win, we witness exactly what we saw last week. If they didn't have confidence in Campbell as a team, I feel we would have witnessed the same old same old from our players. And that's simply not what I saw.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I didn't want to believe that, as it was posted by quite a few people during the Weeden starts, but it appears to be true. I suppose it makes sense.

That's all we can ask of them. Control their games and then let the chips fall where they may.

It's like 2007. We have a chance to be in the playoffs. hell we won 10 games and that should have been enough. But remember, that was the year that if the Colts win against the Titans (I think) and we're in. What do the Colts do, LOL,, they don't play Manning and they second string QB just flops. Titans win, we're out..

I believe the next 2 weeks will make this far more obvious.

The Bengals play the Ratbirds this week. If they lose that game, they are still only 2 games ahead. Which would mean if we beat them next week, we are within one game.

I don't see them having a 2 game lead at this time as being something impossible to overcome.

Bingo...You are so right, This means everything, were on the right path, we now have a Front Office who acts like they know what thier doing, & not afraid to make the big move ( Trade of Trent). We have a coach who wants to Win and not one thats afraid of losing...We have players, not just warm bodies, we have talent on this team..were headed in the right direction.

And aside from this season, we go into the draft with extra picks to fatten up.

j/c...this seems like the place to put this comment:

We are basically playing for first place in the AFCN Sunday.

If we beat the Bungals (which is very possible) and crush the Steelers (which is even more possible) we will be tied with the Bungles and have a ridiculous stronghold on the tie-breaker.

If you would have told me that after Hoyer went down...I dunno what

I'm going to add to that that I don't sense any real pressure on us to win. We NEED to win to have a shot at the division/playoffs...but no one is expecting us to win. We are still under the radar...although barely.

The Bungles are on the hot seat. They are SUPPOSED to win the division. They lose to us twice and still have to face the Ravens at the end of the year and the sphincter gets very small. They want to stop the skid and win before the bye week.

This should be interesting.

The Browns should factor that in and go all out Sunday. You're not supposed to even be where you are.

You're 100 percent right. Cincinnati has all the pressure. I really think we will see a hell of a game Sunday.

This game against the Bengals, it's time to dig into our bag of tricks. Horton said in one of his recent pressers he's yet to dig into his "exotic blitz packages". We need Norv and Horton to dial-up a good game and gameplan against Cinci. No excuses, have had two weeks to prepare. We need this win.

If there was ever a game for Chud to pull out all the stops, this is the one.

It's like having a playoff game in the middle of the season

I somewhat disagree.
I think you go into the game with those things ready, but you wait and see how you're handling them first.

You don't go to your special tricks if you're handling them well enough without them. You save those for later when we might need them against the likes of New England or the Jets..... or in the AFC Wild Card round of the Playoffs.

I agree.. I think you should ALWAYS have a few tricks up your sleeve ready to deploy if the right situation and the need arises... but I don't think you want the message to your team to be.. "We are installing of these special gadgets just for this game".. the message you send is, we don't know if you are good enough to just go out and win the game.

As a matter of doing business I would assume a few new wrinkles get added over the bye week... which is cool. But if you want to be a playoff team, then you act like a playoff team that knows it's going to have to win games in late November and through December that have playoff implications...

I wouldn't think too deeply about what messages are being sent.... the players respect the coaches and the coaches respect the players. I'm sure they are all adult enough to handle that part of things just fine.

Being that these are still new systems that are not yet fully implemented, I fully expect that they are working on the finer points of things that we haven't seen, yet.

I didn't mean getting his bags of tricks out but rather being super aggressive, stepping on their throat if we get the chance, etc. Open up the playbook. Let Horton's Who's fly around.

I just hope we can come out of the bye week with new wrinkles and new looks that Cincy doesn't have much film on.

Again, as others have rightly said here...it's fun to be talking about this week 10
