Browns C+ Brian Hoyer threatened to be one of the NFL's real breakthrough stories in 2013, with wins in his first two starts (I'm giving them an A for those two games). A knee injury in outing No. 3 put a serious damper on the season that stuck until a Jason Campbell-led win over Baltimore. The "tank" many envisioned after the Trent Richardson trade never happened. A playoff trip probably will not either. Read More: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl/news/20131106/nfl-midseason-grades-2013/#ixzz2kHzy40QIAgree or disagree?

I think he got some facts correct but I think his final analysis is way off. We'll know better next week.

Can't really argue.
A C+ is just above average. I think that's a pretty good summation of where we're at this year.

The Cards a B? They were expected to be better, how about straight up C for hitting expectations on the head. Jets an A, well, anyone outside of NY would see through this one. SF a B after last year and the expectations on this year. B-/C+ at best. There are many others. Was it Delta Burke stating these grades?

The guy gave the jets an A and had the broncos at B+
Really?
I think you can put the browns anywhere around a C right now as a whole for the first half of the season.... I think they are playing really well right now but some of those early games were just horrible

It depends on the grading scale.
If there's no curve, then we're a legit C+. But the Jets are definitely not an A.
If there's a curve based on expectation vs. performance, then the Jets earn their A, and we're in the B+ range.

The article said in the introduction that the grades were based, in part, on how well the teams did compared to the predictions on them before the season started. The Jets, for example, were expected to fail miserably. In contrast they're 5-4. So they exceeded expectations to the degree that gave them an "A" grade.
Pretty much the same reason the Browns get a C-.

So, most people expected us to be better than 4-5 at this point? Outside of this forum, I sure didn't see that.

Agreed.
Consider.................
With Gordon and his 2 games missing.
2 OG's, 1 starting and 1 a backup, missing for 5-6 and 8-9 games respectively.
The TR trade announcement right in the middle of getting ready for a game and only Obi left from training camp.
The 3 QB carousel.
The Gordon trade rumor. The Cameron trade rumor.
Sheard out for ?6? games? Wynn out. Groves out? Mingo missing all of preseason.
The Flying J thing.
Installing a new O and D.
Etc, etc.
I realize that all teams have issues but imo the 2nd youngest "kids" on the fields this year have fared fairly well with what has transpired to date.
Imo nothing less than an even "B" for both FO and Staff. Nothing less.
And........................they're still young and still learning.

No, most people expected us to be much worse. That's why we get a higher grade than our record should allow. Had we been expected to to be 10-6 we'd have graded out lower than we did because of our losing record. Losing records don't typically earn a "C" grade.
At least that's how I understood their criteria for their grading system this time around.
