http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-news...-025930737.html Was watching one of his movies when my bro text me that he died...how eerie is that. He's always been the subject of a death hoax so it took awhile for them to actually confirm it was him. That is why I don't ride in other peoples cars, if I'm going somewhere, I'm driving.

Boy that was a bit of a shocker to me this morning. Opened up my facebook page this morning and one of the first things I saw was that he died in a car accident.
Sad
RIP Paul Walker.

I know or should I say I heard on the news that they were traveling at a high rate of speed. Other than that, was there something else stupid they were doing?

"Speed was a factor" is a nice way of saying they were flying in their Porsche Carrera. They could have killed somebody else, that's stupid enough.

It absolutely is.. no question about it. I was just wondering if there was something else. But speeding the way they must have been to do that much damage is dumb enough..

if you saw the carnage from the wreck, two things were evident. Anyone in that car was dead, and 2, they must have been flying...

Was it stupid ? Yep
Was it exceedingly stupid ? Yep
Does it matter ? Nope
Look folks we have all done "stupid" things but the only difference here is they didn't live to tell the story.

If not for the hood and the tire, not sure you'd be able to recognize this as a Porche or even a mode of transportation:

Yeah but you gotta remember, it's a tough crowd.

Yup, we have definitely all done stupid things... and every last one of us would have deserved to be called out for our Darwinism had our antics killed us. It's sad that people died, but it's utterly freaking fantastic that nobody else died - or was even injured - as a result or their actions.

It matters to me. If someone puts themselves in that position, I don't have sympathy for their death. I feel bad for the families and friends of the two guys who died, but I don't feel bad for those two individuals at all. I would NEVER put myself in that kind of position because I know the potential results. We all do stupid things in life, but there are degrees of stupid. This kind of act is right up there near the top.

I didn't know John Lennon but was upset at the word of his death.
I never liked the "Fast" movies all that much, but thought Walker was a talented actor who had a bright future.

The way a person dies matters with how much sympathy I'll feel for them and their death. I don't think that's an abnormal response.

At first I didn't agree, but on refelection, I do....there is the tragic factor. I was saddened when Bob Hope died. A great man and American, but the guy was nearing 100 years old and he simply died a old persons death....the body finally gave out. All of our's will sooner or later.
When people are younger, you think about years lost. At 40, it isn't unreasonable to think Walker had at least 25-30-35 years of life in front of him where with Bob Hope you could say he lived a long, productive and rewarding life.
It's not like Bob's life was cut pretty much in half. He probably beat the odds by a decade or two.

I'm kind of a terrible person. All I've been able to say to the folks at work who mentioned to me- completely out of the blue- that he'd died was how terrible of an actor he was.
I just keep thinking of watching the Too Fast, Too Furious in theaters busting up laughing when he said to Tyrese (talk about a legendary combo), "I Ëold you I don't wanna talk about it, cuh." Eighth grade me shouldn't have been that aware of poor performance.

I haven't watched any of the fast and Furious movies, and frankly I have no idea who this guy was ...... but my sympathies to his family anyway.
It's a shame that he died doing something so stupid, not that it matters to his loved ones.
I hate to say it, but the one thing that came to mind when I heard how he died was that old joke: What were the Redneck's final words? "Hey y'all, watch this!"
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Wrong! A redneck's last words are more often: "Here, hold my beer and watch this!"

While the location wasn't ideal for racing ( racing should be done in as a controlled environment as possible ) it is my understanding that these two were race car enthusiasts so they had a little more skill than the average guy . Also read where a blown tire may have been thecause for the loss of control . When a sky diver, free diver , mountain climber etc.. dies doing what they do is that a stupid death as well . What about the poor schmuck who falls off of his roof hanging Christmas lights or the fat guy who has a heart attack while dragging a deer through the woods during hunting season ? Perspective is a funny thing .

He was driving a car that even professional drivers have said is hard to control, and was speeding on a public road in such a vehicle. From what I have read, the car spun out over and over and over again before smashing and bursting into flames. You have to hit something really damn hard to do the kind of damage he did to that car. This wasn't an accident where he was doing 80 in a 55 zone. He was driving in a reckless manner. It's a shame that he died. I don't want to see that happen to anyone. However the simple truth is that he almost certainly contributed to his death by his own (likely) illegal actions. It is absolutely a shame, but if he hadn't been racing, or been racing a hard to control car, he would almost certainly be alive today.
I do have a great deal of sympathy for his family. he was far too young to die.

Aha. I hadn't read that. I thought that he was driving.
Bottom line is that it;s a shame whenever anyone dies, especially in what should be the prime of their lives.
I ha ve read that the car he was in is one of the hardest to handle that has ever been built. We've all done stupid things in our lives, and usually we get away with them. In this case, he didn't.
My condolences to his family and friends, and I'll leave it at that.

Don't care how you slice it up, you don't drive 100+MPH on city streets. Just stupid.
TMZ has a video of the accident, not sure if it's been posted. You can't really see all that much but you can see it's a suburban street with office buildings around it. Just the wrong place to do that speed.

If you wanna speed I generally recommend an empty highway and no one in your car... You're a dog if you eat it doing 150mph on public roads but dog waste if you take someone else out too
That said F&F helped get my generation into cars and for that I thank Paul. I "liked" cars before F&F but i loved cars after.

To add to that, i guess a guy from the shop where they built it that the deceased owned together couldn't back the car up, said it kept stalling, so the those two guys jumped in and took it out for a quick ride to test it. Also reports that the power steering pump blew and they lost steering, and attributed to the car going up in flames as quickly as it did

Man, that makes it even worse.
Why would you take a car you weren't sure about out for a speed run? You can tell if a car is right, especially if the driver is a pro, at 40 MPH just as easily as you can at 80.
