Amazon just shipped my Tomb Raider, Definitive edition for the PS4 for me. If you only play third person games, like me, then you may be limited to what's available on the newer consoles until more games are released. Tomb Raider just released today (the 28th) so if you're a third person guy with the new consoles - it may be worth taking a peak at!
I'm still on my ps3. I may wait until next year to decide to go next gen. I still love all my games now.

I got them for somewhere around that too. I'm enjoying Uncharted 1 & 2 as well. Mine was 12.99$ off Amazon too. I bought it Dec. 3, so it must have been with a Christmas or Lightnight deal.
Ended up downloading Uncharted 3's single player off PS+ and Uncharted for PS Vita off PS+ (both for free). I doubt I'd ever play any multiplayer Uncharted, so worked out amazing for me.
So I'm all in on Uncharted right now. And I'm 87% done with the first Uncharted too. I'd like to get to finish the game tonight, but I really don't think my significant other will let me......
I enjoy the game, but it's not as good as Tomb Raider or Last of Us (similar style, 3rd person shooter-ish). But we'll see with the 2nd and 3rd! Either way my Black Friday PS3 and the Black Friday sale games I bought this past year were some of the greatest deals around. Plus that PS+ membership I got for 30$ for 12 months. Huge deal

Petey - I'm just curious as someone who is having the Tomb Raider game shipped to me for my PS4, how is it? What kind of weapons do you get?
Spergon - as stated, and not knowing what you have/haven't played then Mass Effect 2 & 3, GTA V, the Resident Evil series are always fun, even the Racoon City game which was fun, but pretty short. Could pick it up cheap, as' well as others - on Ebay. Ebay or Amazon. Other games would be Last of Us, any of the Batman games (excluding the latest one only b/c I didn't get a chance to play it and can't vouch for it). if you're into stealthy games, then of course the Splinter Cell series is a must, as' well as Hitman Absolution.

You get your standard array of weapons as you would in any game. Handgun, Shotgun, Bow and Arrow, and an axe. And then, you find parts along the way in the game that allow you to upgrade those. You have to find them though. And you find enough parts and then each weapon can be upgraded into a new weapon. Once you find a weapon, you have it. And once you upgrade a weapon, it stays upgraded. So it's not like you can only carry one hand weapon and one two handed weapon, and then you might lose them when you hoose to grab others, like Uncharted 1. Once you've got it, you've got it. There's not a variety of hand guns, shotguns, and Bow and Arrows either. You just can upgrade the one you find in the story along your way.
Your weapons also basically have a skilltree which you can upgrade them on using ordinary salvage parts. So you get weapon parts and then you get salvage parts. Salvage parts can be used toward all the weapons, where as specific weapon parts can only be used toward the weapon it's specifically for. (And weapon parts are a lot more rare than salvage parts).
Anyway, I found the weapons in the game interesting enough. Not a huge variety, but they're upgradable in various ways. And I remember loving that bow and arrow.

Cool, call me crazy but I love exploring around with hopes to upgrade weaponry. Sounds like it'll be a game that I will like to play then!!!!!!!!!

If you never have, then you should check out Far Cry 3.
I've just started going back to it, and it is quite good.

Unfortunately I'm one of the few gamers that cannot stand first person games. I need to see my character to enjoy the game! This blows cause it seems majority of all games being released, and all the big titles everyone rants and raves about - are first person games

While I haven't played a FPS since Bioshock, may be....... 3 months ago (that and Killzone Mercenary on my Vita), I'll be going back to them soon.
My favorite thing about FPS is that I feel there's a real skill involved. It's something I don't get with the Third Person Action Adventure games. Or at least it's a different skill, and I like it a lot.
Just beat Uncharted 1, which I liked but I'd call it a poor man's Tomb Raider (although I mean, they were made like 5 or 6 years apart). But I'll probably be playing Killzone 2 next, and Far Cry 3 is on my Amazon Wish List. Eventually I'll buy it and play it. Just gotta love the shooting skill. It's kinda addictive.
Although Killzone I've always heard mixed stuff about, so if it's no good, i'll put it away. I got too many other games to play. I have Bioshock Infinite DLed to my PS3, so worse comes to worse, i'll play that, which i'm sure will be really really good.
But yeah, gotta love the FPS. There's just a skill to it that's addictive (IMO)

Oh I disagree. I bought this excited about it and heard all the great things, but it's about as deep as a puddle. Story is a joke, and it's repetitive. Take out base, move on, repeat. fun for the first couple of hours though.

I got a little more out of it than that, but I agree with you. Hunting quests were fun. Taking out the bases was fun, but it did get very repetitive.
Yeah, the story was dumb.

The story wasn't bad, although it was predictable and did get a little weird towards the end (especially the very end)
I thought it fun going around and shooting people and animals. Some of the takedowns were cool. I think the template is there for that game to get better. The wash-rinse-repeat cycle of missions is definitely an area that could use some better ideas.
As far as some of the games you mentioned, a lot of them I have played/owned. I haven't played Uncharter past 1, that may be a game I get into down the line, but I may actually use this card toward a board game. We're looking to play a game Saturday night.

I'll wade in on FarCry3, I can admit it did start to a bit repeaty. I have to say I still loved it. The Island was fantastic, Enemy AI wasn't bad at all. Hunting was ok, like how you needed pelts to upgraded pouch capacity and such. Vehicles were fun fun fun. take downs pretty cool. weapons solid.

I agree with you, I liked it also. The only things I didn't like was how the protagonist was such a wuss and driving the ATVs was horrendous.

Agreed.
Everything gets repetitive after a while. I think the sheer scale and duration of the game is what may make the repetition seem to be too much. The constant exploration is both tiring at times and part of the fun. After having spent a fair bit of time seeking out towers & camps, lately I've been taking a break from that and instead focusing on doing Hunting quests, Kill quests, and searching for Relics. Between all of those sorts of things, I think there's enough variety amongst the repetition to definitely hold interest. That isn't to say that it can't be improved upon, because it definitely could.... in a game this long, you really need to be more inventive in how you present the same thing over and over again, but I don't think it is bad in any way.

I hear ya. Ironically when I was rocking a PS2 - I use to play the COD and Medal of Honor games that were first person, and liked them. Something changed though for whatever reason(s) - but now I cannot stand em'.
But Petey - played about a hour of Tomb Raider yday after I got it... I'm digging it. I like the games that kind of make you think a little bit instead of just killing everyone and blowing up everything. This games strikes me as a thinker with action. Anyhoo, so far so good. Upgraded my bow and my axe already!

Spoiler Alert
Farcry 3 Story The part of the story that irritated me was that that one boss guy "killed" you, what, 3 times? 4 times? You keep coming back to life, and then you eventually kill him once in dreamland, and then he's dead. I thought that was really weak. Then the ending got super weird, but the story had already lost me by then.
End Spoiler
The protagonist grew on me after a while. I would've preferred his older brother to be the main character, but oh well. I thought it was a little far-fetched for someone who was such a wuss to turn into this gun-toting rambo guy in short order, but (as I mention above), that wasn't the most unbelievable thing in the story. I did enjoy his mental/psycho change throughout the game, though. His conversation about "winning" with the swimmer girl after rescuing her was riveting.

Yeah, and the you'll see, the Tomb's are difficult, but definitely worth it becaues you get lots of salvage parts and I think sometimes weapon parts in them.
But yeah, IMO that game got better and better. I thought the beginning was slow except for the scary part (you obviously know what i'm talking about). But it gets better and better. And you'll find more and more people to kill. But yeah, there's the thinking, where you have to find ways to make your way from one place to another ALA other Tomb Raiders and Uncharted.
It's a good choice. Def my game of the year candidate to go along with Last Of Us

I gotta agree about the ATV's though in Far Cry they were a bit difficult to steer. I focused on the race with on for a bit and got pretty good but that had a lot to do with learning the route, if you tried to free lance over unknown terrain you were in for some trouble. Spoiler Alert !!!! I absolutely loved the first time I learned there were gators in the game. Scared the living crap out of me.

The only thing I dislike thus far is it's extremely hard, to near impossible, to see ammo (like the arrows) and etc unless you're using the survival instinct. It blows cause it doesn't stay on unless you're at a complete stop. So I find myself constantly stopping, hitting L1 to look around, and then moving. It sucks you can't set Waypoints on the relics and documents stuff either, they're tricky to find, even when my map says I'm on top of it! Other than that, I think the beginning has started off pretty good and not slow (yes I am aware of the scary part you referenced, lol, for sure!) Truthfully, i could easily sit down and burn two-four hours playing it if I had the time lol as the story and transitioning between tasks has been very good.

If that's the case, I just dl'ed it for free via XBox Gold. Win!

Yeah, that survival instinct was annoying, but if you get the upgrade where you find more ammo on people (or more ammo in boxes, I don't remember what it is). I think you find them easier. That and just get the upgrade where you can get your arrows back from people after you shoot them. Both aren't weapon upgrades, they're personal upgrades.
That kept me from having issues with ammo I think. I just killed most folks with the bow and arrow, pretended I was Rambo.

I was talking about Tomb Raider, Definitive Edition. This: I will say, gameplay (set on Hard of course) was really easy. The tombs (I have one or so more to explore) are very easy. I've already beat the game's main storyline @ 86% complete and I haven't been on it really hardcore which is very disappointing. I'll finish up raiding the other tombs I haven't and maybe even do some more document.relic collection, but it's already beat and it feels like I JUST got it! It's sometime I will keep though and will replay at a future date.

Just in case you didn't already know, a Rambo game is currently in development. I hope they do it right because that could be awesome.

That's the only problem with the game, too short. But I paid 15$ for it on Black Friday so I didn't feel like I was swindled or whatever. But that's the way I do it. I buy my games on really good deal or else I find single player ones that I run the GameStop scam on (buy it pre-owned, beat it within a week and return it for my money back. If I don't finish the game, buy it, return it. Then have my g/f go pick it up for me and she can return it within a week).
Only games I pay full price for (as of recent) would be Madden..... And that was mostly for the DirectTV Amazon deal.
And now I got PS+ which gave me a bunch of great Vita games and Bioshock Infinite. Got a year membership for 30$, what what
Currently I'm playing Uncharted 2, game is pretty sick........ And I have myself set up to play Witcher 2 when I get back to the tugboat I work on. This time I think i'll only bring one game, as I think that one will take me awhile and I should spend more time reading.
I'm sure I'll join the current generation soon because of Destiny, Thief, inFamous Second Son, Witcher 3, and whatever other games come out. I probably won't play that system as much as my other ones, not right away at least. Seeing as the graphics in games are already pretty good, I'm doing pretty well with PS3/360/Wii. I just have a lot of games to play AKA Uncharted 3, the Resistance Series, inFamous 2, God Of War 3, Killzone 3, Far Cry 3, Dishonored, Diablo 3, Dark Souls, and whatever Wii games (Zelda and Metroid and that sword one, Red Steel 2?) I eventually choose to buy. There's just so many!
Looking at what I've seen of PS4, the backgrounds are in more detail and I guess the main things you're looking at are pretty nice, but the step up seems to decrease every time a new systems come out (because your eyes/televisions can only handle so much). We'll see when developers have the systems for longer periods of time though. Although, if they hook one of these up for 4k TV, things could get crazy. I saw Sony's 4K TV today at Best Buy, and I was tempted to drop the 3500 on a 50 incher. Although it wouldn't be compatible with a lot of things I guess. But damn that demo was sweeeet
But right now Uncharted 2 is pretty sweet. Definitely a little more dialed in then Uncharted the original.

I feel ya. I wish I would have kept my PS3 as I'd be playing Batman right now!
As for the PS4, there are no third person games out that I know of, so looks like i'll be waiting before I get a chance to play a new game.
How did you get a year PS+ subscription for $30 bucks? I want that lol. I will say, Witcher 3, The Division and some other really SWEET looking game titles are being released this December for the PS4. Only bad thing is... that's an incredible long time away =[

Got my PS+ subscription Black Friday 30$ for a year. They did it last year too I think. Incredible deal.
Yeah, sorry man. Feel for you. I'm guessing you traded in your PS3. It's too bad PS4 isn't backwards compatible. Don't really know what to tell you, just that's a real long time from now.....
inFamous: Second Son comes out in like a month, that looks cool. It's 3rd Person and kind of reminds me of the Batman series. And I played Resogun for PS4 and that was pretty cool too. But it's really an Indie game, there's just not much substance to it. May be that Assassins Creed Game? Never played that one.
And Thief comes out soon, which is supposed to be cool, but that's 1st person. And Watchdogs should be coming out sometimes this Spring....... And I bet Witcher 3 is released before December at last. Still is a long way to go, how much did you get for your PS3?
I'm guessing there will be some other games between now and December that are pretty good too. There's always games that come out and surprise everyone......

Yeah Metal Gear Solid and as you stated, Infamous 2 are coming out shortly so... Resogun was a free download for PS+ users for the PS4. Two other games, Warframe as' well which reminds me, I got that downloaded so I "do" have a game to play! The Evil Within I believe is also set to release in the next coming months.
I sold my PS3 (with two Sony controllers, Ghsot Recon Future Solider, Socom Navy Seals, GTA V and Hitman Absolution) for $175. Was listed on Craigslist and in three days, was sold. I'd recommend using Craigslist when the day comes you want to sell and upgrade to newer gen console!

I am having a hard time finding a game out or coming out soon that even interests me. The only one that is on my radar is Watch Dogs, but I read an article where the devs dropped the patent or some non-sense.
I think I am just going to game on Steam for a while and maybe while I wait the system prices will go down and the game libraries will improve.

Can't say I've ever sold a console. Not my Nintendo, Genesis, PS2, Xbox, Xbox360 or Dreamcast. Or either of my Gameboys. They usually end up in boxes all dusty, and then thrown away. May be I'd consider it, but I dunno. I don't really like the idea of Craigslist, just makes me nervous. I'd consider eBay, but the shipping is expensive and by the time I'm selling that PS3 it'll make it hard to sell. I'll probably just buy a PS4 and keep my PS3. Same with that Wii that I never use....... And I imagine my Xbox360 will eventually break as it is put through the stresses of life on a tugboat. When that happens I'll be transporting the PS3 back and forth, and that'll probably go the same way.......... The Atlantic Ocean gets rough out there for everyone and everything, lol

Don't laugh. I've been playing some of the retro RPGs on emulator. The big two (three?) lately been: The original Final Fantasy for NES. Great game, inspired many others. I played this 20+ years ago and at the time it seemed like there was a ton of grinding, lots of dying etc. In reality the game is very easy when you know how the game mechanics work and a team like fighter, fighter, red mage, red mage is obscenely overpowered. On that note, I have played around with a hard version hack of that game made by Zzonkmiles. The game was rebalanced, making all 6 classes useable and effective, and the game itself is much, much harder. So while you can crush the last dungeon, Temple of Fiends Revisited in the high teens levelwise in the original, it was a legit challenge clearing that place out at max level 50 in the hack/challenge version. Also have played some Final Fantasy 6 (originally released on the United States as Final Fantasy 3 for Super Nintendo.) Now that is a good game. The plot is as good as any and has amazing replay value for the freedom the game allows. Plus... Kefka

Kefka might be the most evil game villain ever. Most villains have their twisted reasoning for things. Kefka just loved killing. Final Fantasy 3/6 is probably my favorite of the series, with 2/4 a close 2nd.

Yeah the Kefka shrill is comical and evil at the same time. FF2/4 is another great game. You don't have any freedom in building your party and the gameplay is more linear but the plot and gameplay are both really good, although there really isn't a true villain in the game like Kefka. They build up Golbez as one but then Zemus/Zeromus kind of comes out of nowhere. Truthfully I'm more about the gameplay anyway but a good plot is always nice in an RPG.

Had a $20 iTunes gift card from Christmas and just bought FF6. It is my 3rd version I own. I have the FF3 SNES cartridge, FF anthology on the PS1 and now this version. FF7 is good and many people say it's the best but I always loved FF6 better. At least the story is way better IMO.
I liked the series up to 11. I beat 12 but it was meh.
I played FF13 for about 5 hours and haven't been back let alone want to play 13-2 & 13-3.
I won't play 14 due to not having time to play MMO's. Hopefully 15 can get the franchise back on track.

Well you done better than me, I lost interest after 7. I did love the 2 and 3 though. I could have maybe liked 8 as well, it would freeze up at the same spot every time and I never bought another cd.
I also really enjoyed FF Tactics.

It's been a long time but I don't remember any freezing on any FF game I played. I'm glad you mentioned Tactics, I think I put Tactics just below FF6 story wise.
I had a lot of hope for 12 because it took place in the same realm as Tactics but there was no direct connection and 12's story was not that great. 10 for that matter didn't have a great story line either but it was better than 12's by a mile.
Again I played 13 for about 5 hours and thought the game was trash. My friends kept telling me it gets better but IDK, I thought that maybe I'm getting use to Elder Scrolls and Fallout games that the linear JRPG's are getting old to me, but I'm loving playing 6 again on my iOS. I really think the story line is what drew me to Final Fantasy and it really started with SNES Final Fantasy 3(which is really 6) and then I later went back and bought SNES Final Fantasy 2 (which is really 4). I bought my PS1 because of Final Fantasy 7 and the PS2 because of Final Fantasy 10. I played Final Fantasy 11 for 4 years. After being dissapointed with 12 I waited on Final Fantasy 13 and bought it for $20 from a coworker. I'm mad I wasted $20.
Story lines I rank the Series
1) 6 2) Tactics 3) 4 4) 7 5) 11 6) 9 7) 8 8) 10 9) 5 10) 1 11) 2 12) 3 . . . . . . . . 50) 12 . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . 1000) 13

I should also note that I noticed a huge difference in the story telling after Squaresoft's merger with Enix to become Square-Enix.

I'm leaving to go to work on the tugboat i work on tomorrow, and I'm only bringing one game with me (it's time for me to get back to reading and catching up on some of my movie series).
Game I'm bringing is Witcher 2 for 360, and I'm pretty excited! I figure next time I'm on the boat I'll bring Dark Souls 2 and finish up the RPGs of last generation.
Like someone was saying before, there's just a lot of good games left to play, and I don't know if it makes sense to grab a PS4 for games I can either A) Get on PS3 or 360 or B) Just isn't that good. We'll see how good inFamous Second Son is, but I can't see getting PS4 for Killzone and inFamous Second Son yet. Might wait till Black Friday and see what bundle they're offering before I get into the next generation.
Odds are high that I won't be able to be patient enough though, and I'll get that PS4. But for now, Witcher 2 is gonna be cool!
Last game I beat was Uncharted 2, and that game was a blast. So I've got Uncharted 3, inFamous 2, Killzone 3 and probably some other game, for when I get home in a month
