50.4% done with GTA5.... Yellow light of death on my PS3.
This sucks. This is the first Playstation I've ever had go out on me. It's an original 80meg big bodied PS3. I guess it's off to the shop tomorrow. Bummer.

Ouch man... I played my older gen model (big bodied) PS3 for years and no issues. Just blew it out with compressed air once a month and that was it. May be cheaper to buy a PS3 off Craigslist than to repair unless you know someone that can do it for cheap.

Either or, good luck. GTAV was awesome!

Don't want to lose this machine. It's got my game memory in it. So repair is the way for me to go.

Who is going to buy that? People that play PC will continue to make a rig. Not to mention good luck with that controller vs Keyboard and mouse players.

Can't disagree as I probably wont ever buy one, but in times like this it would've came in handy. As in you would've been able to fix it yourself and not have to wait on someone else to fix it for you.

That thing has USB ports out the wazoo. I don't think that controller will see much use.

Got my PS3 into the shop. 3-5 days and I'll have it back. $75 plus $25 for a fan modification upgrade to keep it cooler in the future. Not bad to keep a 7 year old machine up and running.

I'll be doing that now. Thanks for the advice.
I guess I always took my machine for granted. That'll it'll always be there. As I've said, I've owned Playstations since they've been introduced and never had one die. I gave my PS2 to a friend. He's still using it.

I was going to give it a try but then I found out the multiplayer is only 6 vs. 6.

That bummed me out.

Yeah I don't get that. Is there that much going on in the game that if more than 12 players are on the map it lags? We were doing 8v8 back on the PS2/original Xbox.

Did you play the demo?

From my experience it seems 6 on 6 is perfect. You get the right mix of running into pilots and drones. With that said if it was 5 on 5 or 4 on 4 the experience was different and lessor. For the game to feel right it had be 6 on 6 any less and it was off.

Nah I never signed up for the beta, I wish I would have but I just never found the time for it. I was into my other games.

I will probably still give it a chance, I'll wait for some reviews.

Just finished marathon gaming of South Park: The Stick of Truth on Sunday. If you are a fan of the show, you NEED to get this game!!! The gameplay is solid, the story is awesome and the references to the show are non stop and reward fans. It vaulted into my top 10 after the first three hours of playing. I wish it was about 10 hours longer or they had weekly downloads. That being said, I'm going to play through the campaign again, which is something I NEVER do in an RPG-type game. I cannot recommend this game highly enough.

I agree, I think its perfect because each person has a mech which can be summoned multiple times during the session. For example, I suck really bad so I call my mech 2-3 times a battle and I can have it fight by my side.

Also each faction has a set drones which makes it feel like its 12 vs 12 battle royal. Adding the mechs to the chaos really makes it crazy at times and really fun.

My biggest gripe is there is no real campaign.

Anybody else get a free beta key to the Elder Scrolls Online?

Just started playing, Unfortunately it was a 60 gig download and it's only good until tomorrow at noon but wow this game is amazing graphically, and the game play is as smooth as it gets.

Edit - The skill tree is looking better, just did some unlocking. I'm jumped the gun.

Been playing that Warframe. Don't really care for it too much. Even with no upgrades there is nothing challenging about any of the missions i've played so far. Everytime I start it up, there is always a huge file-sized patch that needs downloaded and installed. About to delete it. Guess that is why it was free lol!

Day Z, it's basically a zombie apocalypse simulator (yes i lol'd at myself for just saying that) massive multiplayer online.

Collecting gear and surviving is the top priority, you can die from dehydration and starvation. And zombies aren't what you have to worry about, it's the people with guns.

I saw a little bit of that yesterday, looks pretty cool. If I had a PC, I'd definitely be playing it.

Yeah it's only in Alpha right now and there are a lot of bugs, but you are warned before you buy.

They just released a 1 gig patch so they are working hard on it, can't wait to see how awesome the finished product will be.

Has anybody played Ryse on the Xbox One? If so, is it worth $45? I've heard it's really short but am wondering if the gameplay, graphics, and story could make it worth a $45 purchase. I'm debating pulling the trigger on it today.

I did not buy it because I was told that it was very short game play like 8-12 hours. I will wait until I can get it for $20.

I've heard that some have completed it in as short as 4-6 hours. It's the main deterrent for me. If I could get 8-12 hours out of it, I'd be fine with spending $45.

IMO the most beautiful launch title. Yes I can be considered biased but I have seen every launch title for PS4/XB1 to base my opinion.

That said as a game it is very linear and pretty simple to play...

Would you spend $45 on it? I'm okay with it being linear as long as the story drives the game forward. From what I've read, the combat controls are pretty similar to Assassin's Creed and the Batman games and everybody praises those games for their combat. If they are similar, I'm assuming that Ryse also feels good when in battles.

Been playing Final Fantasy 13-2. 13 took me forever to get through. I didn't like it much at all, but 13-2 is actually really great. It uses the same battle system which scared me at first, but 13-2 seems to flow much better. Also, the story is a lot more open ended than 13.

Ryse is more basic but yea, it's a similar fighting style with attack/bash/dodge buttons.

I think $45 is worth it to showcase what the XB1 will be capable of going forward It's gorgeous.

Good to know. I think I have Final Fantasy 13. Started playing that game and put it away within an hour. Just not my kind of RPG style anymore. I was very into FFX (one of my favorite games ever), and I've enjoyed other JRPG's as well. But now I much prefer something like Skyrim, Witcher2, Dragon Age or Fable. Even Mass Effect and Fallout could be considered RPGs I guess.

I've thought about picking up one of the Final Fantasy's for my Vita. Although I don't find myself playing much of anything lately on my Vita except for this game Velocity Ultra, which is sick. The kind of game you can pick up anytime you want, levels are like 5 minutes a piece, and there's like 100 levels. It's probably an indie game or whatever, teleporting spaceship and you shoot the aliens.

I love PS+ and I got a great deal on my Vita, but I kinda wish I spent an extra 100$ and got a WiiU. I think I'm just not a handheld videogame guy. The only ones I truly ever enjoyed were Tetris way back in the day and Pokemon in middle school when those games came out.

Anyway, right now I'm playing Bioshock Infinite. That game is SICK. But the story is beginning to get quite confusing. I should beat it this morning and then I'll have to read up on the parts I just don't understand. Back in the day I didn't care (except for FFantasy X, that story I loved), but may be cause I'm older I really like videogames with good stories and I actually listen/read the dialog.

Next up will be Uncharted3. Both were free downloads with PS+. After that, who knows. I tried inFamous2, didn't really like it at all. Liked inFamous1 though. May be I didn't like inFamous 2 because I was going the bad guy route. I might try the PS3 resistance series.

I keep on thinking of getting a PS4, but there's no games besides inFamous Second Son that I wanna play yet. And I think I'm gonna go SONY because they've sold so many consoles, so it's probably gonna be successful, and because with the 360, I never cared much about their exclusives (Witcher 2 was good I guess, but the Gears of War games, eh, and Halo Series, while good, is something I'm pretty over. And Bungie is doing their own thing). Rather the PS3 exclusives like Last Of Us and Uncharted series I have loved. Uncharted 2 is one of the best games I've ever played, same with Last Of Us.

I just want to go on record that now that I've actually played it some and gotten use to the controls and mods - this game is actually pretty fun now. Plus you don't need a PSN Membership to play the missions with other people online...

Mass Effect 1 was definitely an RPG. 2 and 3... yeah, probably not so much. I thoroughly enjoyed all three, but I gotta say, the gameplay changes for 2 and 3 made it much easier to pick up the game again after beating it the first time. ME1 gets tiresome much faster because of the gameplay and the repetitive level designs.

I really want to try a "big boy" RPG, and I did play Skyrim, but even that game was a little overwhelming for me. I guess games like Fable and all those Bioware games are the ones that fall in my sweet spot.

Right now I'm playing:

Killzone SF - Just beat Chapter 8 or 9 last weekend. There are 11 chapters. Getting close to the end.

Lego Marvel - Play this with my son. (Snuck in a few levels when he went to bed...)

Final Fantasy X HD - Loved the original, needed to buy a game for my Vita and I bought the X/X-2 pack. I'm not far into the game now but oh the nostalgia. <3

Other than that I gave Dead Nation a try, meh reminds me of Smash TV on the NES. It's OK. I still haven't played Outlast yet which I heard was a good game.

On my PS3 I still need to play the Expansion for The Last of Us and I've been meaning to play Infamous and Infamous 2 since I got both for free with PS+ and before I buy Second Son I want to see if I actually like the games first. Other games to finish are ICO, Shadow of Colossus Demon Souls and Kingdoms of Amular.

I'm interested in Watch Dogs when it comes out also.

Too many games so little time.
