The first official trailer for Draft Day was released today. Looks pretty good, lots filmed at the Browns complex. Had a good friend work on this film, lots of fun stories. http://www.youtube.com/v/K3SlVsdUuBY

When I heard about the movie I was very skeptical, but that actually looks kinda good.
“...Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!”

Looks way better than I thought it would.
Looks like the ending will be flat out intense.

Now, I have to ask. Was it the previous regime that gave them approval for the movie or the current one? Which one gave them technical advice? The current regime or the former one?

I'm not too excited about it. But I'm glad to see that Holmgren was able to give Denis Leary acting tips.

It looks interesting that's for sure. I hope they consulted current/past front office people to get a real sense on how the 'behind the scenes' stuff really works. Sometimes these sports films can completely miss the boat on that type of stuff and something, particularly a movie about the nuances of an NFL draft, can look completely unrealistic. Lots of interesting themes from what I gather watching the 2 minutes spot all centered around a GM that wants to be able to build the team in his image.... - Owner wants a splash pick to sell tickets and Sonny wants the right player - Sonny (GM) vs Head Coach conflict on what is the right path to building a team - Juggling current player issues and caps money w/ (Jennifer Garner) - GM trying to 'play the game' with other GMs. (it looks like he trades the #1 pick and makes multiple deals during the draft, just pure speculation watching the trailer) Looks like there could be a lot of moving parts here. Hopefully it's a realistic.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

That's actually pretty funny.

One more thing.....
Does anyone else think they kinda gave away the entire movie in that 2 minute clip?

Huh, a trailer with no explosions. I wonder if this is the football version of Moneyball, with a touch of Major League thrown in. Not sure I'd care if it wasn't set in Cleveland. It'd be funny if they found a place in the movie for the Mike Polk Rant. The talk show voice you hear in the trailer is Aaron Goldhammer - I heard that they actually filmed a segment for the movie using Rizzo and Goldhammer at the "KNR studios.

That's how just about every trailer is these days. Ridiculous. If you are interested in the new Johnny Depp sci-fi flick, Transcendence, I've heard they REALLY give it all away in the new trailer.

I hear they modeled the GM after Lombardi.. It is a zany slapstick comedy

Neither. The NFL owns all of everything. If the NFL doesn't want the team name/branding/trademark being used it cannot be used. Without NFL approval nothing happens.

Actually, that's not quite true. They do have the monopoly on displaying their own logos, etc., but the Browns actually do control their own. If the NFL made this movie and they would have to ask the Browns to allow their logos, etc. to be shown. They don't overrule what the Browns have control over and the Browns can't display images owned by the NFL. It actually is a two-way street.
