I never thought I'd see the day WBNS puts a bengals game on over a browns steelers game. I'm driving down from Cleveland to watch the game with some friends. According to this map they are showing the bengals game even what looks north of Mansfield!!

http://506sports.com/nfl.php?yr=2013&wk=17

I can't find programming notes anywhere on WBNS.com that say they are airing the bengals game, they used to have a weekly section on what they are airing. It looks like they are trying to be very hush hush as to what they will be airing. Their guide listings shows the bengals game, but TV guide.com say the Browns game will be in Columbus, grrr

thats what happens when we have a team that hasn't cracked 6 wins since 2007.

These Sundays are what make the Sunday Ticket worth the price of admission. I'm sorry for your luck, that really sucks. Honestly, you probably won't miss much.

The Bengals play Baltimore, with playoff implications for each team. If the Ravens win, and either Miami or San Diego loses, they are in as a Wild Card. The Bengals still have a shot at a 1st round bye.

The Browns and Steelers are playing mostly for pride. The Steelers would need everything to break just right for them to get the final playoff spot. When you add in the fact that this game is likely to be a less than competitive game, given the way both teams played last week, and the recent history between the 2 teams, and I see no reason why a Columbus station would show the Browns game over the Bengals game.

Better ratings and viewer attendance with the teams that actually have something to play for. I mean Steelers still in the talks but eh... I don't care, we don't care and I doubt WBNS cares lol.

As stated, probably won't be missing much if anything lol...

WBNS rotates which games they air. This had been a topic of discussion here time and time again. I've contacted WBNS and spoken to people up to and including the programming manager. Ratings, season records, location had nothing to do with it according to them. In all fairness, even though I dislike it, the Browns have benefitted over the Bengals and Steelers in air time on WBNS. Keep in mind, Columbus is about as far from Cleveland as it is Cincinnati and not that much further from Pittsburgh. There are a lot of Steelers fans in eastern Ohio and the panhandle of W.Va.

I'd still bet that the browns steelers game would get a better rating than bengals ravens. We will probably end up streaming the game online, opposed to going to a bar. We may hit up winking lizard on bethel though. The one thing I do not want to do, is be around steelers fans, because I'm not expecting a very competitive game.

Yeah, I know how that goes, I live in columbus for 7 years. Maybe ratings for Browns games have been down this year, but my 7 years in columbus a bengals game was never shown over Browns steelers. Also the wbns website used to have a page dedicated to what game they were showing that week, I can't seem to find that anymore.

Obligatory "don't post those links because big brother is watching!!!!!!!!!!" response.

There. I just wanted to get that out of the way.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

A group of us Columbus folks will be at the Winking Lizard on Bethel. We'll be the in the side "Browns fans only" room (Buckeye Browns Backers). If you're there say "hi". I'll be the 1 in there with a 17 month old.

The Browns keep losing and the Bengals are winning. It's safe to say mid state NFL fans and advertisers are leaning towards the Bengals.

TV stations don't just decide willy nilly on what games to show. Lot's of market research goes in to the decision. The TV station has more viewers wanting the Bengals game and more advertising dollars ready to be spent if the Bengals are on.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

What our stink Browns have beaten Pitt how many times since 99? 3 or 4 times? hmmm I wonder why they would show the Bengals game?

Most of the games the Steelers have destroyed us.

Yeah and it's never on TV down here, so I like to refer to it as the "Get hammered while watching the Browns get hammered at BDubs season finale."

Have you lived in Columbus before? I don't think you would be rolling your eyes if you knew how many times a bengals game has been shown over a browns steelers game in the past 9 years.

Actually I have for 13 years and your right they have played the Browns more. There are more Browns fans in Columbus which is great, but if they are not going to show both games then what game would you put on? Easy decision wouldn't you say?
