http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/star-ledger-editorial-christie-bridgegate/2014/01/08/id/546003Just as Chris Cristie's popularity was taking off. Emails from his top aids surface that could prove they caused traffic issues on the GWBridge to punish the Mayor of Ft Lee for not endorsing Chris C. It begs the question, did Chris C. know about It. Or did they act on their own?

The more I hear the more I believe Chris C. could actually be involved.
Regardless, this shows a clear example of political retaliation while causing undue pain on innocent bystanders. Tsk Tsk NJ.

Sounds like Chicago politics.
Edit - the article is funny. I couldn't even get a couple of paragraphs in before it being blatantly clear that the entire purpose of the article is to take an early shot at taking him down in regard to 2016. Whether it is true or not, holds water or not, get it out there and in print. It doesn't matter if it ends up being true, only that people remember it.
Crap.... I had hoped that we'd get more of a respite from election silliness.

Yeah I hear ya Purp. Although this a post election issue.
Anyways I don't think Chris C. had a snowballs chance in hell to get the rep nomination anyways. And I don't think Hillary has a chance to get the dem nom. in 2016. But I guess it's never too soon to start the mud slinging.

yeah, that is the entire purpose and it's sad (both in that this looks to have happened and that the "spin" on it is to denigrate for 2016 elections).
honestly though, I doubt the American public would elect a man of his *ahem* girth anyway. the president is a symbol as much as a leader.

So according to the article, if Christie knew about it, then he's a liar and is unfit to be President... and even if he didn't know about it, then that proves he's not in control of his highest ranking folks which also proves he's not fit to be President.... has the person that wrote this even looked at the actions of our current President and his highest ranking folks? Their two most popular answers to every question are "It wasn't me" and "I didn't know"... For the record, I'm on the fence about Christie, there are some things I like about him and some things I do not like about him.. but since he's never run for an office for which I can vote, I have to admit I haven't looked into him all that closely yet.

No such thing... they are ALL pre-election issues. It may have happened post-election, but it is being used and spun already for the next one.

Christie always struck me as being a pretty savvy guy. Kind of a decent family guy who just happens to be a politician.
I don't think he's stupid enough to do this and actually think he'd get away with it. But obviously, I have no way of knowing for sure. It's more of just a gut feeling.
I honestly believe he has a shot at being our next president and I think the republican party thinks that as well. Doing something like this could kill his chances (if the mere thought that he was involved hasn't already).

Yet in the next POTUS election, the media will parrot this possible 'scandal' while poo-pooing Hillary's Benghazi debacle.

As a liberal, I was never worried about him getting the nomination. The people who usually come out as front runners this early usually drop off (usually). Just like I'm not worried about Hillary Clinton being nominated by my Democrats in 2016. I like her enough, but I don't think she's anywhere close to electable, and, frankly, I'm not sure I even like her that much to vote for her.
I think I'll just write in GM's name in 2016. Will he be 35 by then?
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

I think we should get him to be Ohio governor first. Instead of "Hope & Change" we can go with a slogan "Pull My Finger"

http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/mayor-christie-camp-held-sandy-money-hostagePretty long. And I know you guys won't like the source of the article, but that's the only one I could find this quickly. Basically a NJ Mayor says that Christie's camp withheld Sandy funds because the Mayor wouldn't support a redevolpment plan that had Christie backing. And here I thought House of Cards was going to be the best political drama all of the year.

I didn't read it but I sure hope that in the end, it's shown Christie didn't have anything to do with it. I want that to be the case anyway.
I like this guy. I think he has the smarts and the attitude to be a good president. I'd hate to see him go down over this, but it wouldn't surprise me if it happened.
Sometimes, even if you are innocent, the stink will rub off on you and it's impossible to wash it off. I hope that doesn't happen.
it's like this Bengazi thing with Clinton, I'm not sure she could have prevented anything. there are enough legit reports out there saying she didn't know until it was just too late. But it doesn't matter, it's that stink that can't be washed off.
I'd love to see a Clinton/Christie race for the White House. I think it will be entertaining if nothing else.

Why does every freaking scandal have to have a gate attached to it these days? It's played out.

Been that way since Watergate.. It's really nothing new and hasn't been for almost 40 years.

Not really... the word "debacle" is being used more nowadays. I'll change the thread name soon.

I think we all know he knew. It's just a matter of if anyone has real evidence. This guy says he has it but won't say what it is. Until he comes forward with the evidence, then it's just political gameplay. also, love this sentence from that link: Quote:
He added that Mr. Christie made inaccurate statements about Mr. Wildstein that weren't accurate.

Christie has so many skeletons in his closet. The media has been holding back a bunch of information to bring him down after he wins the Republican nomination. Read the article. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-...tters-for-2016/Why isn't this information discussed along with the bridge scandal?

A first-to-the-punch-wins-the-fight industry is withholding damning information on a popular politician during the biggest month of the year?
None of that stuff is particularly damning. It would elicit a yawn from most everyone. Excessive spending, corruption, shady connections and deadbeat family members don't really rank.
Now if he'd had an affair, that would be a different story.

All the media has to do is mention his name with Madoff and suggest a possibility of some sort of connection and that would be a blow to the campaign. Dems would easily be able to revert to their class warfare politics appealing to their base and uninformed independents.

Nah. No one would care in the grand scheme.
Look no further than our last four or five presidents. All of them had some horrible names connected to them, and it did nothing to hurt their campaigns.

Well, she really did screw the pooch on that one.
But she'll come out of it relatively unscathed, the same way Obama skates through his gaffes - because of their opposition.
The best thing that ever happened to the likes of Obama and Hillary are things like FOXNews and A.M. radio. It put the goalposts too far to reasonably make the kick.
They made the questions things like 'Is he a radical socialist?' or 'Is Benghazi worse than Watergate/Iran Contra/Iraq?' And the answer was a clear and unequivocal no.
That doesn't excuse the ineptitude of those two, but it made them more palatable to the general public by way of the opposition's characterizations.
It works both ways - the media keeps debate within a certain confines, thus ensuring the idea that there's two diametrically opposed sides, one of which is philosophically correct, the other a shining example of what's wrong with America. It insulates both parties from being exposed for what they really are - whores with no moral code too strong to be bought.
