Bennett has been showing signs of life lately. I think he is finally in shape. Im holding out hope he could be a solid contributor.

I just think it'd be funny to hear the Cavs hype man get all jacked up about announcing Bennett in the starting lineup.

Then Bennett runs onto the court, trips, and does a face plant.

I think trying to bring back his confidence at this level is a poor idea. Send him down, take the pressure off and let him play there for the remainder.
Fire Brown, get your guy whose philosophy you like. Trade Irving to either a loser for a high pick or a guy who fits your coaches scheme. Do the same with DW if he doesn't like it here. AV can go too. Reboot as much of it as you need to...

they then show highlights of him at UNLV followed by in big block letters "What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" and his lowlights of his time with the Cavs

Thought this was kind of funny. A couple days ago, I was talking to a friend at the gym about the Cavs and the Bynum signing especially. He was saying basically that Bynum was a bum and probably has just been sitting on his couch ever since the Cavs traded and the Bull released him. Yeah that was pretty much spot on. http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...-a-pacer-video/Quote:
Indiana has signed Andrew Bynum but they are not going to rush him along, coach Frank Vogel has said Bynum will not play until sometime after the All-Star break. They don’t need to rush because they already have the best record in the East and the best defense in the NBA. Anything they get from him is just sprinkles on top of the icing already on the cake. Bynum was a low risk pickup because if he does workout he improves their bench and if he doesn’t they don’t pay him much and he doesn’t join Miami. Bynum went through his first practice with the Pacers Friday and spoke to the media afterward, above is the conversation. Here are a few highlights. • What did Bynum do with his time off between the Cavaliers and Pacers? “Really just relaxing at home, that’s it.” But he’s been keeping a workout regimen going, right? “Not really.” He did say he tried to eat right. So there’s that. • “Getting comfortable with the guys, that’s the biggest part. Then when I’m given an opportunity go play hard.” • To his critics that say he doesn’t love the game. “That’s what their going to say, I can’t fight it. All I can do is just go play hard and put points by my name.” • “My motivation right now is the opportunity to win, because that’s the most fun, and just being around a positive atmosphere.” • On his time in Cleveland, who traded him to Chicago (who cut him). “The atmosphere over there wasn’t one that promoted positive energy and wanting to come in, and it was just tough.” Spoken like a guy who played and grew up under Phil Jackson.

I get that picture in my head of Bob Uecker in Major League holding the microphone out to the empty seats during opening day and saying "Listen to that crowd!"

There are rumors floating around, not super serious ones, that Joe Dumars is on the Cavs' radar.

The Darko pick is right in line with what Grant did.
Take the better player? Oh how silly... I want random guy who can fill a roll.
How good would Detroit have been with Melo or Wade?

The whole landscape of the NBA may have been different had Detroit taken Wade...

I always hated the argument that Detroit never wins the title if they take Wade because it would of ruined their "chemistry"
And to your point. Does Lebron still join Wade in Detroit? Bosh isn't trading Toronto for Detroit. People really underestimate the pull that being in Miami had.

No way would those guys play in a rust belt city. They would've played in New York, LA, or a team down south like they are right now.

Jeremy Lamb is averaging 16, 5 and 3 per 36. I know his strength was a concern, but the kid can play. He's a reason why I want Zach Lavine if we pick 10-15 in the lottery. Zach is very similar to Jeremy. Zach doesn't have as great of a shooting stroke (Lamb shoots like Ray Allen, it's beautiful) but he is a lot more athletic and isn't as skinny.

I think Gilbert is going to do something stupid like trade for Pau Gasol. I don't know how and it gives me a little bit of comfort that we don't have salary cap space. However, this is Cleveland.

I don't know if you can really say what happens, but I think most would say it would be different. I think they still talk about playing together, but I don't know if Detroit would have been able to make it work cap-wise...
And lol, two in a row? Was Chris Grant that much of a downer?

no.. he was a masochist
that is the only thing that can explain his draft choices/trades over the years.

I think my updated prediction is that the Cavs miss the playoffs by one game, and therefore, get a crappy lotto pick.
That would be so Cleveland.

miss the playoffs by 1 game to expect bad lotto pick. win the lotto despite the odds and get to draft a franchise guy. have franchise guy transform team into competent championship contender, but do not win one yet. only to have franchise guy be constantly hurt and reduce your team's status to a slightly better Atlanta Hawk team.
oh, sorry, that would be so Chicago.

That really is the Bulls in a nutshell. I hate them with the passion. They're the only team in this town that I can't stand. They're a rival so obviously I‘don't like them.
But really, they are being punished for playing hard, and getting everything they can out of themselves. It's pretty sad. In any other league, they'd really be headed in the right direction. Instead, they'll be in NBA purgatory.

'So Cleveland' would be sneaking into the playoffs as one of the worst, if not the worst playoff team of all time, drawing the Heat in the first round and in game 4, down 0-3 in the series and down 50 points in the 4th quarter, the game keeps getting interrupted by the occasional drunken fan who charges the court and gets beaten to a pulp by police/security (hey, it happened several times vs Miami in 2010). Someone gets pissed and sets the river on fire, and the Cavs get stuck with a crappy pick and no chance at jumping to the top 3.
Yes at this point I'm just being mean

Nah ... "so Cleveland" would mean the Cavs make the playoffs as the worst 8th seed ever, and draw the Heat.
They'd lose Game 1 on a last second Lebron drive, They'd lose Game 2 on a Kyrie Irving fumble on the last play of the game. They'd lose Game 3 when Lebron makes an amazing over the head catch of a ball flying out-of-bounds, only to spin around and drill a buzzer-beater mid-air while sailing over Craig Elho sitting in a court-side seat. And in Game 4, they'd lose in a massive 50 point blowout because right at tip-off, the Heat bring in Jose Mesa to serve as a team-mascot, wearing nothing but a red #88 jersey and sitting him on the right side of the bench ... and everyone in the arena knew it was over at that point. After the game, Lebron would announce in a post-game interview that he would definitely NOT return to Cleveland as a free agent in the off-season.

Oh no .... he would announce that he would, again, announce his decision on a prime time special. There would be suggestions that he wanted to return to Cleveland ..... maybe even another name free agent associated with him and his return to Cleveland .........
It would all look good for Cleveland ..... until we get hit over the head again.

wait, no mention of a player being busted for PEDs going into that decisive game4 (ala Byrd) or an important member of the Heat getting busted for PEDs, the day after the decisive game (ala Rashard Lewis)

Heard at halftime, Jimmy Haslam came out and announced he was moving the Browns to LA.
As a surprise to him, 3 quarters of the Quicken Loans Arena got up and applauded the move.

Get ready for some hilarious tanking. It's already kind of happening now when the Bucks sat OJ Mayo, Larry Sanders, Illyasova, Butler while the Celtics weren't playing Rondo or Bradley. The 76ers have decided to send a message to the rest of the league that they are to be feared. Last 2 losses by 43+ points.
Like I said, we are about to see some EPIC tanking down the stretch in the Eastern Conference. It's already brewing.

I think the prudent thing to do here is to see if we can nab young, promising (but not elite) players off of these tanking teams. An Evan Turner, Thad Young, J. Henson, etc.
When a ton of teams are doing one thing, then it's not usually efficient to be a follower. Try to find the market inefficiency in another way.

Looks like the interim GM agrees with you ...

Cavaliers’ interim GM says team will be buyers at trade deadline Kurt Helin Feb 10, 2014, 12:02 PM EST 1 Comment David Griffin, Cavaliers AP The guy in the general manager’s chair may have changed but the directive from ownership has not:
Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert had laid out the playoffs as the goal.
That may not happen this year — Cleveland is currently the 11 seed, four games out of the last playoff spot in the East. It is possible they climb back up, but the Cavs would be foolish to make short-term moves with an eye on the eight seed, where they get swept by the Pacers or Heat.
David Griffin is the guy in the interim GM chair since Chris Grant was fired, and he told the News-Herald look for the Cavs to be buyers at the trade deadline, but with the long term in mind.
“I don’t see how you get better and win more games selling,” Griffin said. “We’re going to buy to the extent that it makes us better for the long haul. I don’t think we’re going to do anything that’s an act of desperation. I think we’re going to be willing to buy the right asset at the right price. We are dedicated 100 percent from top to bottom to getting better and that’s what we’re going to do.”
Pretty generic GM stuff, but the idea is a good one — Cleveland needs to add talent to the roster. They tried that with the Luol Deng trade but right now there isn’t an infrastructure in place to take advantage of what Deng can do.
Cleveland needs a culture change, something that will be tough for Griffin to instill in a few months. But maybe he can make a move that starts to change the feeling in the locker room, and from there on the court. The problems in Cleveland are not going to be solved between now and the trade deadline, but Griffin might be able to take a step in the right direction.

Young, promising players are the exact types of players that tanking teams especially want to keep. You might be able to nab them off contenders, though.
Tanking teams want to dump high salary guys that are decent players who probably aren't going to be on the team for the long haul due to age or contract or whatever. Those are the guys you can get pretty easily. If the goal is to push towards a 30 win season, by all means indulge.

I would like to get Thaddeus Young. He could shoot it, and is efficient. I've never been a fan of Evan Turner. After a hot start, he has really hit a rough patch. HIs shooting %, and pts per has been on the decline for the past few months. He is very average, and would be a role player on a good team.
