I can appreciate that. Is it just the usage of the draft terms (like they had an actual large board with names on it) or the presumption that people know what they're talking about?

Not speaking for CBFAN, but personally I find the entire idea of mock drafts to be silly, especially this time of year when the FA period hasn't even begun. There's simply no way to come close to emulating the unique perspectives and decision-making processes of 32 different drafting teams.
Maybe I'm missing the point and people simply want to pretend that they know what's best for somebody else, but if the purpose of doing mock drafts is to accurately predict how the actual draft will play out, then mocks fall woefully short 99.9% of the time.

I thought the purpose of mock drafts was to establish that you're slightly less of a knob than the guy who's breaking down all-22 and thinks he's running an NFL team?

I have a feeling we added 2 new ones that we'll think are funny for the next few days, then hate for the next year before thinking are funny when they randomly show up over the rest of our lives:
KWIII: looking for Boston Market
and
It's the Browns, but it's still pretty cool

Yeah, but are you making your own playbooks?

Not in Madden, but in NCAA '12 I had a custom playbook that was a mix of a few different styles... Turned Rutgers into Alabama...
I'd be willing to sit down with Jimmy and Joe if they want.

J/C.
I hate when the "experts" around here start talking about where they have college players ranked on their "big board" for the draft. It's as though they have their own war room and everything!
IIRC, there is a poster here who runs a draft site. I have also found that some posters are pretty good at draft related stuff. Since I didn't follow college football all that closely this past season, I am happy to have different opinions as t how certain players might fit our team. IIRC, there was a poster who linked up to some of his work, and it was every bit as good as, or better than, anything the big boys spew out.
I would bet that there are some posters who do as much, or more work than some of the network talking heads, who get paid handsomely for their opinions. Some are closer with their predictions than many of the talking heads too.
Plus ...... I bet that it isn't that hard to make a "big board". (especially if you do it without teams, just talent)

Where I feel network people have the advantage is all of the film they're blessed with. Not that they are any good at breaking it down. But they do have the staff and resources that many of us don't.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I hate when a commentator or coach refers to players with an "s" on the end of each name and a definite article in front - e.g. "the Josh Gordons, the Greg Littles, the Joe Hadens." Every time this is done, the commentator could just as easily refer to each player in the singular. I'm getting mad just typing this. Makes me want to strangle somebody.

I agree. It's a stupid affect that does nothing to make the speaker sound more intelligent.
As if Noah rounded up two of every Drew Brees, Josh Gordon and Spencer Lanning for a little cruise....

Here's a good one.
A team is "pesky". It's the announcers' way of condescending teams in smaller markets, since most of these guys are all big city honks to begin with.
When the pesky team actually wins, then they turn to whining about ratings.

This isn't cliché but it's annoying to watch. Why, whenever a WR makes a play, that he gets up, and unbuttons his chin strap?
I mean, you know, you still have to line up again in 15 seconds and strap the damn thing back on.
Noticed it watching Steve Smith, he does it a lot. DB's do it a ton too.
Speaking of WR "action" cliches....
Spinning the ball on the ground like a top after a catch. I get it when it is a big time do-or-die play (do or die cae be added to the cliche list) but people like Decker for Denver does it almost every catch.

Yup, and isn't that against the rules now and has been for a few years? It's pretty hilarious what the good teams get away with. There was an obvious PI call that should have gone against NE early in that game, and the ref couldn't find his whistle, but it was PI against us late in the game against NE. I know, it was different refs, different game, etc, but it's just funny how that stuff works out.

It's not a cliche, but I hate when offensive guys make a play then continue to strut toward the endzone to show how bad they are. I'm like "It's the first play of the game, you haven't won anything yet, act like you've done this before."
And the first down chop when they make it.
I just want a reported to come out and ask once, "So do you feel like a horse's behind for celebrating every play in a losing effort?"
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

Okay, I got one. Haven't heard it mentioned and don't necessarily hear it routinely, but when commentators want to describe a gritty, hard-nosed guy and they simply call him- with a little more emphasis-mustard- a football player. "Guy's just a real football player!"
Really? What else is he?

One I really hate is "the defense gets to pin their ears back". I get what they are saying, I just hate it for some reason.

"He doesn't always catch with his hands." // "He's a hands catcher." // "He's a body catcher."
This one bothers the heck out of me because it's wrong. Nobody catches with their body.
What idea people are actually trying to differentiate are catching with your thumbs closer/open vs. catching with your pinkies closer. Catching with your thumbs closer/open is physiologically superior since it gives you four independent points of contact with the ball as opposed to two.
I don't understand why announcers/analysts continue this "catch with his hands" nonsense.

Yeah, as a fan I'm more annoyed with WR's who jump when catching the ball, when there is absolutely no need to jump. It takes away from their momentum and usually lowers the chances of good YAC. And TV guys NEVER call them out for it.

I think that's usually guys who are afraid they're going to get hit. Whether it's because the throw is late/dangerous or they just have the jitters, pretty sure that's why they do it, and why it's usually over the middle. You're less-likely to get injured if you're not planted on the ground.

I think that Little has said that he likes to jump because it's a timing mechanism for him. He does seem to catch most of the passes he jumps for ..... even when a jump isn't entirely appropriate.

I believe it has to do with where/how they want to catch the ball.. if the ball is at your gut or below, it would be stupid to jump.. if the ball if up around your chest, I think some guys jump so they can still catch it in their gut and cradle it rather than putting their thumbs together and catching it like they should... Which is one of my big reasons for pimping Watkins for so many months, he catches everything he can with his hands out away from his body.

"Catches the ball with his body" rolls off the tongue a little more easily than "catches the ball by using his hands and arms to trap the ball against his body".
