I'd just like to post a reminder of Paul Brown's wise words.
Karma tends to bite these guys in the butt. I guess we'll see with Sherman.

I could care less what kind of attitude they have or what they proclaim, as long as they are backing it up on the field and aren't breaking any laws off of it. I'd love to have a guy with his talent on our team because, well, I like having talented players on the team. I can do without the stupid sideshow act, but if that's what gets his motor going than more power to him.
I think you have this wrong.
Typically, fans of losing teams will admonish such behavior.
But if he played for the Browns, everyone would love his fire.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I'll let you and Paul Brown worry about Karma. I want winners and leaders surrounding me. Attitude is important to me. Attitude drives action. I always enjoyed the often attributed quote to General Patton in which he allegedly proclaimed, "Give me a tank, a baseball bat and a case of Schlitz and I'll take down the Red Army."

Spot on.
Look no further than Frank Minnifield and Hanford Dixon. They talked trashed incessantly. They backed it up too. We have them to thank for the Dawg Pound. They established an attitude and culture that many Browns fans are still holding onto this very day.

Yep. The "I'm the greatest in the world and can do no wrong." mentality helped the Browns a lot. Jim Brown had it in abundance, so much he thought he could beat up Muhammad Ali. We need players like Sherman and Jim Brown in this locker room.

Nah, the myriad posts we see every week in the Gameday forums about how they "love it when the guy just flips the ball to the ref instead of celebrating" and how everyone should "act like they've been there before" tell me I'm right more often than not about it.
But whatever, it's not like I'm losing sleep over it. If Richard Sherman wanted to come play here I'd be all about it, as long as he put up on the field.

I think that's more because we're down 100 - 30 and we're celebrating first downs rather than the community not liking the idea behind it.

I apologize for my confusion. I literally haven't a clue of your point. Are we concerned about Jim Brown making comments over 40+ years ago? Are his comments supposed to be a definitive indicator of future outcomes for anyone that is outspoken? And a current indictment on today's NFL brash personalities?

I think you can take usually out of that statement. Only because you are going to get a bunch of talk of the Freddie Mitchell's of the world.

--Denver really manhandled New England. I look at the Patriot's roster and wonder how the heck they got there. Their roster stinks. It goes to show you of the importance of having a great QB and HC. Hopefully, we get both this year.
--Denver's game plan was outstanding. They had NE off balance all game long. They really exploited NE's zone defense w/multiple crossing routes and the wheel route. Very impressive.
--The Patriot's game plan was fine. They were just outmatched physically and I have never seen Brady miss so many throws. I kept telling my son that Brady looked sick. Was he?
--SF should have won that game. Their offense is so inconsistent under Roman. I don't want any part of him as our HC. They underachieve and do not take advantage of their superior talent.
--Seattle's defense is awesome. Very fast to the ball. I thought SF might be able to get physical w/them up front, but they stuffed Gore all day long. Seattle's lack of talent on offense is alarming. OL is weak. Receivers are back-ups. They are going to have to really rattle Manning and force him into mistakes, because there is no way they can score a ton of offensive points in the SB.
--Love Sherman, but I thought his reaction was weird. To much "me," and not enough "we." I am not going to argue about it..........but, he sounded classless and weird.

They did mention Brady was sent home mid week after having a bug. If it's the same bug I have right now, bleh. It's horrible. I think like 1/3 of this country is sick right now.
As far as Richard Sherman goes, I got a good laugh out of it. He probably could have taken the high road, but when you back up your talk, you get some wiggle room.
I thought Colin Kaepernick's passing held the 49'ers back. He's not good. Seattle either made a real good adjustment after the first half, or Kap just flat out didn't want to run anymore. He turned the ball over on his last 3 possessions.
SF's defense iu so damn good. Wow, they're a physical bunch.
I thought Russell Wilson played a pretty mediocre game, but also came up with the plays he needed to. That 4th down call was gutsy. Carroll didn't know they were going to get a free play, and his QB hadn't done much all day. The guy knows what buttons to press, I'll give him that.
I think Seattle will need to play a lot better, because they're not going to hold Denver's offense down like they did SF. Should be a great game.

J/C Just watched Belichick's live presser and he said that the hit on Talib was one of the cheapest/worst hit he's seen. I wonder if there are any hard feeling because it was Welker?

Wasn't it on a pick play? Denver and New England run that play all the time and get away with it.

I gotta say, the last throw Colin attempted had a very low chance of success. 10% TD 45% Knocked away 45% INT Why would you risk a birth in the Super Bowl with that? They had been moving the ball on slants and other stuff over the middle the whole drive. Heck, I was waiting for him to break the pocket and run for the TD....but then he lofts it up and it gets picked. I really have to question that one. And like Sperg said, Seattle and Wilson caught a huge lucky break with the whole kicker unable to get on the field in time - jump offsides - toss it up for the TD on their game-winning drive. Great throw but seemed very lucky too. Kinda like Bama in the SEC title game but reverse. It was a good game to watch but I feel gross because I wanted Phil in the Super Bowl. And there sure are a lot of bandwagon Seahawks fans walking the city now. And now for the longest two weeks in football. As for Sherman, that's who he is. He's not a thug, just a trash talker. Probably not a good idea to do it right there, but that's who he is. Oh well.

I was expecting Kaepernick to run, at least to the point where he got it to the 10 yard line or so, then he'd probably be able to make some kind of play. Same deal as the super bowl. Dude came up short.
I expect bandwagon Seahawks fans to come out of nowhere the next two weeks. Me? I'm still sporting my Browns scarf and beat up hat. I feel like a jackass. Whatever, we'll have our day.

It most certainly was on a pick play. That was the same route that NE ran against us to no end. I remember telling my wife during the game that it should have drawn a flag on a couple plays. I mean, they are so blatant that there is no way that there is not at least one ref seeing it...

Saturday I was at a Family get together to play some Poker and I wore my Browns Sweatshirt, Browns ball cap and my brand new Browns Winter coat and my family were giving me crap about it. I just said I'll never bandwagon all I can do is hope they turn it around, sooner rather than later.

That's the one thing I really like about being a Browns fan, when I'm out wearing my gear, it feels like people look at me like..."sure the Browns stink, but there goes a true fan. Not some bandwagon Red Sox or Seachicken fan." And the same goes for me when I see a Browns fan in Chicago, which there are quite a few. I'll always say, "Go Browns" as they walk by. But hey, I'm sure we'd get our own bandwagon percentage if the Browns were making deep playoff runs like the 49ers. Oh well. I'm looking forward to the Super Bowl. At least the AFC North is all at home watching too. Yes, we don't have a coach yet, but we still have all those picks in the draft, lots of cap room, a young team, a potential QB in Hoyer, and one of the best WRs in the game. I'm still excited. Come on, it has to turn for us eventually, right*? *famous last words.

It was a great game to watch. And, I, too, wanted to see the 9ers win just for Phil. Oh, well. I think Seattle/Denver will be the better match-up, though.
Bandwagon fans are nothing new, though. You see them come out of the woodwork when the Steelers are rolling. I guess the only bad thing is that they tend to be even more obnoxious than the regular fans. And, we know how obnoxious the regular Steeler fans are.....

Seems like everyone I run into knows a Browns fan. It's actually a pretty impressive brotherhood considering the organization has fallen on its face for 15 years....
I actually had to talk non Browns fans off the ledge this year about the team.

j/c I didn't get to see any of the AFC game and picked up the NFC game after halftime. - I have no problem with what Sherman said. Could he have handled it differently? Sure. I feel bad for Erin Andrews. I think she was genuinely afraid, and she couldn't have expected that response. - I can only imagine the adrenaline, etc. he was feeling at that moment. Heck, last year I almost got in a fight after a rec league basketball game with a guy who would have likely broken me in half over the stupidest thing in the world. When I thought about it later, I thought how stupid it was, but adrenaline can be a crazy thing. - Oh, and as SF drove down with hardly any resistance at the end of the game, I thought to myself "maybe this is why we like Quinn as our HC. His defense is exactly what we saw from the Browns this year! Play well for 97% of the game, but let down when it matters."
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

Richard Sherman is a classless, disrespectful, puke. His comments were totally uncalled for...he embarrassed his team, he embarrassed the city of Seattle, he embarrassed the Seahawks organization with those statements. I assure you Pete Carroll was not happy with those statements, and I am sure Sherman was told about it behind closed doors to keep his mouth shut.
If your "the Best" then you don't have to tell anyone, your play speaks for you, and you don't run your mouth. Look at the Patriots from the last decade...look how many Bowls they won, you don't see them making such classless statements in interview....because Bellichik wouldn't put up with that kind of nonsense....You don't see Brady talking trash in interviews, and there is no question he is one of the best to play the QB position.
All Sherman done was talk like a thug, plain and simple...it was classless....those defending him must support poor sportsmanship and classless disrespectful comments....comments that were uncalled for.
Sherman is a "me 1st" kind of guy, the guy is a cancer that just starting to fester.....making comparison of him to Ray Lewis is totally unjustified because as much as I hated Lewis, he did respect the game...sure he talked trash, but he didn't get in front of the microphone on prime time tv and call another play a "sorry receiver" and hurl insults.
I sincerely hope the Browns FO has enough sense to not get anyone like this on our team...you can be a "great player" without the need to stop to the levels Sherman did last night....See Ed Reed, Darrelle Revis, Joe Haden, Joe Thomas, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Hines Ward...I could go on and on.....what Sherman done was classless and embarrassing plain and simple...There is a difference between trash talking and flatout insults...trash talking is done out of fun for the spirit of the game....insults is not.

Why a thug? A thug is a violent person or criminal. He may be a cocky jerk, but I didn't feel "criminal" when hearing him speak.

So your ok with Sherman calling Crabtree a "sorry receiver", a blatant insult, and doing nothing but showing classless behavior and total poor sportsmanship?
I don't go for that, you gotta respect the game, and what Sherman done was in poor taste...there's no other way to spin it....

And Crabtree was talking smack to Sherman during the game. He's still doing it if you look at his twitter. Guess someone can't defend themselves in today's world.

yet at the podium with Terry giving him the Trophy, all he said was "WE" when talking about the gameplay versus SF especially at the last drive. totally a "me" guy, right? sorry, once again, i rather have players like him who run there mouth's, going to the SB, than good, smart and tough guys, going 4-12, 5-11 every single year.

In the link below is Richard Sherman, in his own words, on last night's game and his comments. Personally, I don't think the guy a "thug" at all. He's a football player, playing with attitude and extreme emotion. It's hard as Cleveland fans to recognize that sometimes because we're so used to hearing from softies like DQ who shows so little fire and attitude that it's a shame he is considered the team leader. But that's just my opinion. Draw your own conclusions. Richard Sherman: MMQB

It'd be funny if this wasn't his reality today.

I expect bandwagon Seahawks fans to come out of nowhere the next two weeks. Me? I'm still sporting my Browns scarf and beat up hat. I feel like a jackass. Whatever, we'll have our day.
You ought to see Portland this morning. The sea of bandawagon Seahawk fans has opened it's floodgates. Co workers that I know aren't big footbal fans came in his morning with go Seahawk gusto. Meh. I don't care one way or another. I will say they are FAR FAR less annoying than the Duck fans. Ugh, those people.

I like this line from Sherman from that MMQB link:
"Erin Andrews interviewed me after the game and I yelled what was obvious: If you put a subpar player across from a great one, most of the time you’re going to get one result. As far as Crabtree being a top-20 NFL receiver, you’d have a hard time making that argument to me. There are a lot of receivers playing good ball out there, and Josh Gordon needed 14 games to produce almost double what Crabtree can do in a full season. And Gordon had Brandon Weeden, Brian Hoyer and Jason Campbell playing quarterback."
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

Football was too mainstream before the Seahawks were NFC champs...
I'm gonna go watch some second tier soccer league out in the UK with teams nobody's ever heard of...
