That's mine. I thought it was important to take solidify our defense early and often. Also thought it WR class was deep enough that I was able to pick up my two favorite WR's in this class after Sammy Watkins and OB Jr. Same thing goes with the running backs. I wonder how they determine who goes where and when? Because I saw a lot of questionables in my draft including Haha ClintonDix dropping out of the first, Chris Borland going in the first and Josh Huff (WR out of Oregon) going in the first.

Did the first 3 rounds as I don't really know the class that well. Manziel was on the clock at 4 but I went like this: R1 WR MIKE EVANS TEXAS A&M - Needed a 2nd receiver and Evans pairing up with Gordon would be sweet. I wouldn't have taken him at 4 but no trades allowed R1 CB JUSTIN GILBERT OKLAHOMA STATE - Passing league and we need better depth at CB. Gilbert would immediately upgrade our CB at either #2 or Nickel. R2 QB ZACH METTENBERGER LSU - Manziel went at 20. Carr still on the board. Took a flyer on Mettenberger to sit behind Hoyer. R3 ILB CHRISTIAN JONES FLORIDA STATE - Upgrades the ILB, assuming we still run the 3-4, which I did.. R3 RB CARLOS HYDE OHIO STATE - RB was a need. Hyde was there. I did want to pick up an OG and would have done instead of Jones if we are going back (!) to a 4-3.

That draft simulator has to be the most unrealistic ever. This is the draft of a lifetime.

CHS has my favorite mock so far, Django is a close 2nd.
Predator's isn't bad. I like Bridgewater better than Manziel but I will assume that Bridge was already taken in your mock. But I don't like the Shazier at #26 pick.

Is Moncrief really slated that far down?
I've watched him, like him a lot. He looks like a steal in those slots.

He's more of a 3rd than 4th. Ole Miss got the #1 WR recruit last year so Moncrief took a lesser role in their passing game.

I want no part of Clowney. He is very talented physically, but I just get the feeling from the way he sat out games with relatively minor injuries that he really doesn't love the game. I said this earlier this year, and have seen nothing that changes my mind.
Remember when teammates were supposedly upset what Hillis sat out with strep throat and other minor injuries? Clowney was medically cleared to play, and sat out anyway. I don't think that plays well in a locker room.
His performance dropped off badly this season, and he had career lows in tackles for loss, and sacks (by far a career low, with only 3)
I want guys who want to be great. I think that Clowney just wants to be paid as if he were great.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Garrappollo (sp) a 2nd rounder after the E-W game. Unless we manage to get Bridgewater, I'd be happier looking at Mettenberger or Garrappollo in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Luckily, I'm no GM

Well, it doesn't offer trades, so I had to select someone. He was available and I selected him.

I remember. Again, I wasn't able to trade out. If it allowed trade offers to come in, I might have accepted one instead.

But, he does have the physical tools and one can sometimes expect that they'll be coached out of him or that his love of money will make up for the perceived lack of love for the game.

Maybe you're right. Again, I couldn't trade out, so I took him. It's just a mock draft.

I haven't gotten to watch the shrine game yet, so I can't comment specifically about Garoppolo, but let's not forget that Charlie Frye was the senior bowl MVP and went in the third.

I feel kind of old saying this, but it seems at the same time that Charlie Frye is an antiquated example of that. Christian Ponder had a similar surprise climb. With the new wage scale, people will reach well before to take a shot on a guy they really like.
He still has to play really well at the Senior Bowl, look accurate at his Pro Day (do they even have one for EIU?) or Combine, and then just own the interview process. It's a lot, but if he aces all that he could be come by our second first.

Given the restrictions you have, that's cool.
J/C ......
I really haven't followed a lot of college football this year, but I have seen enough of Clowney's act to know that I want nothing to do with him. He really is the only player that I am sure I want to see on a roster other than the Browns.

Me likey that draft a lot! I like the two OG pick ups especially - if one can usurp an incumbent and the other can either do the same down the line or become quality depth, the offense is upgraded.
I do like Mettenberger in the 2nd (or heaven forbid at the top of the 3rd) because he would have been a 1st rounder had it not have been for the ACL (I think?) injury. I think 2 QBs in this draft is not a bad idea either.

I am not familiar with most of the college players. I tried to draft more on what I feel are needs of the team and went from there. I have thick skin so it is okay to not agree with my choices. I believe that some will agree with me on the decisions if not the choices of players.
#4- WR- Mike Evans #26 TE- Jace Amaro #35 CB- Bradley Roby #71 ILB- Christian Jones #83 QB AJ McCarron #102 RB- Carlos Hyde #123 S- Tre Boston #133 ILB Lamin Barrow #164 OG Zach Fulton #195 S- Sean Parker
I felt the Browns need more on the Offensive Line but reading more about how our team offensive line is rated well, I felt that to pass on two studs to throw to for our QB in Evans and Amaro was more important. After that, I feel the linebackers are the next weakness followed closely by the safety position. I am not sold on #52 and #53 at linebacker. I feel that #43 is overrated but you can always franchise him and give him competition this year. I drafted with an eye on 2015, Offensive Line and if my QB situation is not settled, a QB.
The Browns could have and should have won more games this season if not for the collapse of the defense. We won 1 less game than last year and our defense gave up games to often this year. If the defense would have improved as expected, we should have won more even with Weeden, Hoyer, and Campbell at QB. This tells me that QB is not the weakest link on the team. I was disappointed with the 0-7 finish. Campbell is not the answer but he is not the reason we lost 8 times with him at QB. Brandon Weeden is not the answer but I feel he could have won at least 5 games this year if he was the starting QB in 15 games as he was last year. So, the offense did not regress, the defense did. I am hoping for a stronger showing this year defensively and some improvement offensively in 2015.

OK, I'll join. Some rankings are low, but here it is:
4) QB BLAKE BORTLES - CENTRAL FLORIDA Like his upside and ability. Could start or learn for a year then start.
26) WR ALLEN ROBINSON - PENN STATE Instant starter. Solid hands, all around WR to be a solid #2.
35) S HA’SEAN CLINTON-DIX - ALABAMA surprised he fell and liked watching him play. Hard nosed solid S.
71) ILB YAWIN SMALLWOOD - UCONN Has potential to be a really good ILB if we stay in the 3-4. At least the top sub to start with.
83) OG ANTHONY STEEN - ALABAMA Solid G prospect. Could develop into a mack truck running game G.
102) RB CARLOS HYDE - OHIO STATE Seen him every where from 1st to 5th rounds in other mocks. Think 3rd or 4th is about right, but his combine 40 time will tell where he will go.
123) CB DEION BELUE - ALABAMA No, I am not an alabama homer, but they have good players. Special teamer and #4 corner here.
133) WR MIKE DAVIS - TEXAS #4 or 5 WR who can be a special teamer / returner.
164) OG RYAN GROY - WISCONSIN Can play all 3 interior line positions. Chance to develop into a starter. Wis pedigree helps.
195) FB J.C. COPELAND - LSU Solid FB. Would like either to draft one or sign one and draft a developemental TE. Special teamer potential.

I like many of your choices. Even at at the bottom of the draft, I would not draft a fullback. Fullbacks are just not worth it any longer. They are a dinosaur.

#4 Johnny Manziel Qb Texas A&M #26 Kelvin Benjamin Wr FSU #35 Gabe Jackson OG Mississippi #71 EJ Gaines #83 Aaron Murray #102 Kenny Ladler FS Vanderbilt #123 Jackson Jeffcoat #133 Seantrel Henderson OT Miami #164 L'Damien Washington WR Missouri #195 Corey Linsley C tOSU
What I liked and disliked about my draft:
With the 1st pick Bridgewater was gone. He is the guy I really wanted. It came down to Manziel or Bortles. I went with Manziel because I think that he reads defenses better.
#26 - I am happy with this pick. Big strong WR. If we can instill a good work ethic in him he could become great.
#35 - One of my favorite picks. I think this kid is the best OG in this draft and will come in and start for us day 1.
#71, #123 - Just good value. Plus we need a 3rd CB who can play.
#83 - IR him for a year and go with Hoyer, Manziel and another veteran at QB this year. Murray would ahe been a 1st rounder without the injury. Not a bad idea to keep a little pressure on Manziel. And a good fallback plan if Johnny Football flames out.
#102 - Ladler is a good kid, a hard worker, strong tackler who has developed a knack for the ball - both interceptions and causing fumbles. We need a FS how can ballhawk and I think this kid can be that.
#133 With him and Jackson we will have a big strong Oline in two or three years (Henderson won't start for a year or two).
#164 - WAshington is big strong and fast. A big play guy. Will open up the field. With a little coaching up he could be dynamite.
#195 - I was torn between Linsley and the C from Toledo. I chose a 3rd olineman going on the assumption that we don't resign Mack. We may have to play Greco at C for a year but regardless we have very little depth at C.
I really don't like that I missed out on RB and ILB. When I started to look at RB my top guy Tre Mason was long gone and there were a bunch of equally rated Rb left. Unfortunately there was a big run on RB shortly after pick #123. I liked Henderson two much to pass on him, then the Rb's were all gone by the next pick.
With LB, I really wanted an ILB but the top guys went quicker than expected and I realized that I don't know much about the next tier.
If I had to do it all over again, I would have picked a rb instead of Jeffcoat. Available at the time were Sankey, Carey, Grice, Sims and Hyde. Not sure which one I would have picked. Perhaps that is why I chose to wait. I probably still would not have picked an ILB because they all went higher than I thought was good value and I liked the players I took better than the ILB available at my picks.

I will say that with the last pick I would really just pick the fastest player available....that would be standard procedure every year unless I was hunting a long snapper.
I think this draft would upgrade the team with 3-4 who would step right in.
I might change the larson pick if we resign mack....but maybe not...if has size, so he might be able to play guard as well.

Hey... one has to work out... right?
But you couldn't carry that many.
Funny....I was BS'n with some friends and thought something like that might work for a team.
If corner, as an example was a clear weakness, draft to fix the weakness....draft 3-4 corners.....you could carry them as they could also play ST.....do the same at guard. If you need a guard, draft 3.
I know some would call that wasted picks, but if I was a GM, 3 players a draft is all I need to hit, so doubling down so to speak isn't a bad idea. Draft 2-3 at a position and fix it.
If you look around the league and the history of the draft, if you pull 2-3 solid players a draft, you are going good, so using your other 4-5 picks to make sure you get your 2-3 players makes some sense.

Ok....sure. You could. It wouldn't be like some of the other positions who could help you on special teams.....as yes, sure you could play the QBs as gunners and return men, but I am trying to be real here. You could carry 4 rook corners until you found the 1 or 2 you needed.

I ran it quite a few times, i learned I really like Justin Gilbert & Kelvin Benjamin
