However, we have $40+ million in cap space, so money isn't the big stopper it might be for some teams.
Besides, a Guard in the top 75% of the league would cost what ...... $5 million/year? I think that this team would prefer a quality OL in front of a rookie QB. Keep Mack, Sign a Guard and draft a RT, and give a kid a chance to succeed.
.It's just not as black and white as you make it seem. I've made my points. I stand.

I think Benjamin and Yankey are the two most highly overrated players at their positions. Not to say they can't be good but I think they are wasted picks. Other than that I'd be happy.

Just in general ......
I doubt that we draft 2 QB. Generally speaking, 2 rookie QB usually don't make the roster.I would bet that a defensive minded head coach will want a pair of veteran QB to go along with a rookie hotshot. It just seems that a defensive minded head coach would be less likely to throw a rookie into the fire, let alone 2. That usually isn't a defensive coach's mindset.
I would also be surprised if we go 2 WR in the top 71. I fully expect us to sign a veteran WR in free agency, and draft 1 in the draft. I just don't see us taking 2 that high. Maybe one high and one in the 5th/6th round ...... but not 2 in the top 71 players. Further, I have trouble seeing us spending all of our top 5 picks (in the top 83 picks in the draft) on offensive players, when we have a defensive coach. I think that will probably break out 3-2 or something like that, to give us a couple of potential impact rookies on each side of the ball.
I also don't see us drafting 2 RB. I realize that we have 10 picks, and duplicates are likely, but I think that we're more likely to spend multiple picks at LB and the secondary. I could see us signing a veteran RB, going to camp with Lewis, Baker, Whittaker, a new Guy, Obi, and a drafted RB. (and maybe 1 or 2 UDFA types) I see ILB as a real position of need right now, and probably not one we'll spend big in free agency on. It seems like the free agent money flows to the OLB guys more than ILB types. However, I can see us starting to look to the future at ILB, even if maybe we don't make a change at both spots this year.
I think that your list is a good effort though .... and far better than I could have done. (my nit-picking aside) I would be thrilled if we could sit at 4 and have our choice between Bridgewater and Manziel. I do wonder who we would take in that situation. It would be a huge decision, and one that would define this front office, and their future, for quite a while to come.

I would take Bridgewater every time and twice on Sunday.
If Murray is sitting there at 123, I would take him as well. Too good of a player to pass up.
I would rather have Lee than Benjamin. I would have gone for Mason at 35. But that is me.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

They should draft two RBs. All of the Browns RBs shouldn't be on the roster by opening day. Maybe Obi or Lewis. They all have shown they don't have "it". Maybe some rookies would.

I think he definitely earned a shot to compete for a roster spot. Him and Obi were the only ones getting any yardage.

Yeah I think Baker/Obi/Dion Lewis all can compete. But I would be much happier with the RBs from your draft and a a free agent.
For instance: Ben Tate or Toby Gerhart, Hyde, De'Anthony Thomas then Baker/Obi/Dion Lewis. Which ever of those 3 wins then give them the last spot.

It's a must we can bust it in from 2 or 3 yards out.

I'm confused.
You moved back a pick.
But still lost a 3 and two 4s. And got Oaks 4?

It's cool. And I think the computer thought Al Davis is still alive and well running Oakland's draft....

4 WR SAMMY WATKINS CLEMSON
Passed on Manziel surprisingly, he went to Oakland, poor guy... I like what Watkins can bring, think Percy Harvin impact...
26 OLB RYAN SHAZIER OHIO STATE
I think he's a good pickup, a guy that can play inside with DQ and learn from him..
35 RB TRE MASON AUBURN
Hopefully we grab a guy in FA, I'd love to team Mason up with Gerheart, didn't really want a RB this high but couldn't pass on Mason...
71 QB ZACH METTENBERGER LSU
I think it's great value for a guy who can sit and learn from Hoyer, if he doesn't outplay him in TC..
83 CB E.J. GAINES MISSOURI
Most of these picks following are Position based, I'm not too familiar with these guys, I'd take a CB here, hopefully a big one... I love big corners... (EJ is 5'11, eh)
102 S AHMAD DIXON BAYLOR
I passed up HaHa Earlier, because I thought he was more of a SS, I'd grab a FS here, would still go after Byrd in FA...
123 G CHRIS WATT NOTRE DAME
Guards.. Guards.. More guards..
133 ILB LAMIN BARROW LSU
In a 3-4, you can never have too many LBers..
164 QB TAJH BOYD CLEMSON
Noon way he goes this low, but even with me taking a QB in the 3rd, couldn't pass up on a guy like Boyd this late...
195 TE JAKE MURPHY UTAH
7th round is always a reach, if we can find a guy there, you're doing good..
That was with fanspeak, ganna do one with trades here shortly..

Got offered to drop back to 6 and then to 9 (gaining 2nd round picks in the process) and lost out on Bortles. After that I just started racking up on 2nd round picks. Then jumped back up into the 1st to take Verrett.

This draft would make me extremely happy (though it's pretty unrealistic due to drops that won't happen) -- had to give up the 2015 first, but this would make for an elite offense next year:
Round 1 Pick 4: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville (A) Round 1 Pick 10 (DET): Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson (A) Round 2 Pick 3: David Yankey, OG, Stanford (B) Round 3 Pick 7: Louchiez Purifoy, CB, Florida (A) Round 3 Pick 19: Carlos Hyde, RB, Ohio State (A) Round 4 Pick 6: Max Bullough, ILB, Michigan State (C) Round 4 Pick 27: Aaron Murray, QB, Georgia (B-) Round 5 Pick 5: Kadeem Edwards, OG, Tennessee State (C-) Round 5 Pick 21 (G.B.): Vinnie Sunseri, SS, Alabama (C)

So my goal on this mock was to get as many 1st rounders next year as I could so I traded back a lot (I realize this is very unrealistic). But would you do this if you could?
Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 25 (S.D.): C.J. Mosley, OLB, Alabama (A) Round 3 Pick 7: Carlos Hyde, RB, Ohio State (A) Round 3 Pick 19: Gabe Jackson, OG, Mississippi State (A) Round 3 Pick 22 (PHI): Paul Richardson, WR, Colorado (A) Round 4 Pick 6: Yawin Smallwood, ILB, Connecticut (A) Round 4 Pick 27: A.J. McCarron, QB, Alabama (A) Round 5 Pick 5: Jeremy Hill, RB, LSU (A) Round 6 Pick 4: Daniel McCullers, DT, Tennessee (A) Round 7 Pick 3: Deion Belue, CB, Alabama (A)
Your Future Picks: 2015 Round 1 Pick (BALT) 2015 Round 1 Pick 2015 Round 1 Pick (N.E.) 2016 Round 1 Pick 2016 Round 1 Pick (N.E.)

Believe me I understand, but I didn't want to lose out on one of the top level QBs. FWIW, I did get Mettenberger later one to possibly help as well.
Here's another one, jumped back up into the middle first for Evans since I picked up the extra 2nd from ATL.
Round 1 Pick 6 (ATL): Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida (A) Round 1 Pick 13 (STL): Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M (A) Round 2 Pick 9 (BUF): Gabe Jackson, OG, Mississippi State (B) Round 2 Pick 21 (G.B.): Louchiez Purifoy, CB, Florida (B) Round 3 Pick 22 (PHI): Ka'Deem Carey, RB, Arizona (A) Round 4 Pick 6: Yawin Smallwood, ILB, Connecticut (A) Round 4 Pick 22 (PHI): Jared Abbrederis, WR, Wisconsin (A) Round 4 Pick 27: Aaron Murray, QB, Georgia (B-) Round 5 Pick 5: Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska (B) Round 6 Pick 4: Terrance West, RB, Towson (A) Round 7 Pick 3: Vinnie Sunseri, SS, Alabama (A-)

Both Teddy & Bortles were gone at 4, so I traded down a couple times but figured Tampa would go for Manziel so I picked him up at 9. Then traded the second 1st, and a 2nd & 3rd I picked up to trade up to get Mike Evans. After that, a couple trade downs one spot to pick up a couple 4th round picks with an extra 6th. Did miss out on an ILB but like the draft a lot, and this was the top draft in that go around.
Round 1 Pick 9 (BUF): Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M (B+) Round 1 Pick 12 (NYG): Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M (A) Round 2 Pick 3: Hasean Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama (A) Round 2 Pick 9 (BUF): Gabe Jackson, OG, Mississippi State (B) Round 3 Pick 9 (BUF): Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU (B+) Round 3 Pick 19: Victor Hampton, CB, South Carolina (A-) Round 4 Pick 7 (OAK): Tre Mason, RB, Auburn (A) Round 4 Pick 13 (NYG): Jeremy Hill, RB, LSU (A) Round 4 Pick 27: Arthur Lynch, TE, Georgia (A) Round 5 Pick 5: Daniel McCullers, DT, Tennessee (A) Round 6 Pick 4: Marcus Martin, C, Southern California (B) Round 6 Pick 5 (OAK): Kevin Pierre-Louis, OLB, Boston College (A) Round 7 Pick 3: Chris Boswell, K, Rice (A)

I would love it if that was our draft. It would put Manziel in a good situation with Evans, Landry, Mason, Hill and Jackson. Huge help.
Getting Clinton-Dix in the second is great too. Huge value and a good center fielder to compliment Ward.

We'd also have a TE who can block and catch, big enough to work the middle, plus some insurance if Mack walks in Martin, and we get a corner opposite Haden. I also like that it wasn't a reach to get Manziel, he's taken more in line with where he's actually ranked. With this draft there would be plenty of weapons on the field to put up some points and compliment an improving D.

Free agency.
Sam Shields CB/Green Bay Jon Beason LB/New York Giants Jarius Byrd S/Buffalo Willie Young DE/Detroit (backup/3rd down rusher) Antoine Cason CB/Arizona (backup) Rex Grossman QB/Washington (backup, already knows Shanahans offense)
Draft
1 - Sammy Watkins WR/Clemson 1 - Carlos Hyde RB/Ohio State 2 - Jimmy Garoppolo QB/Eastern Illinois 3 - Dakota Dozier OG/Furman 3 - James Hurst OT/North Carolina 4 - Shane Skov ILB/Stanford 4 - Jared Abbrederis WR/Wisconsin 5 - Tyler Larsen C/Utah State 6 - Storm Johnson RB/UCF 7 - Christian Bryant S/Ohio State
Banner & Lombardi would have never taken a running back this high, but Farmer and Pettine might. Pettine made it clear that we need to be able to run the football, and Shanahan historically the last 5 years has excelled when his offense has been able to run the ball. I would look for this team to draft 2 RB's this year, unless we make a big splash in free agency and sign one.
That's a great off-season in my opinion.

Here's a trade up to get Bridgewater, cost both 1sts, the 2nd, and first 3rd & 4th. Then a couple moves down to pick up some more late round picks. There is some risky value there as a couple players grabbed late rated higher but have injuries.
Round 1 Pick 1 (HOU): Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville (A) Round 3 Pick 26 (IND): Yawin Smallwood, ILB, Connecticut (A) Round 4 Pick 6: Terrence Brooks, FS, Florida State (A) Round 5 Pick 5: Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska (A-) Round 5 Pick 15 (MIA): Josh Huff, WR, Oregon (A) Round 5 Pick 26 (IND): Terrance West, RB, Towson (A) Round 6 Pick 5 (OAK): Devin Street, WR, Pittsburgh (B) Round 6 Pick 27 (IND): Cassius Marsh, DE, UCLA (A) Round 7 Pick 3: Antone Exum, CB, Virginia Tech (A) Round 7 Pick 16 (IND): Corey Linsley, C, Ohio State (B+) Round 7 Pick 20 (OAK): Antonio Andrews, RB, Western Kentucky (A)
Here's a top score draft, staying at 4, then trading up with Pitt to get ahead of Baltimore to take Evans. Cost a 2nd, 3rd & 4th. Then a couple trade downs for more picks.
Round 1 Pick 4: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida (A) Round 1 Pick 15 (PITT): Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M (A) Round 3 Pick 10 (NYG): Chris Borland, ILB, Wisconsin (A-) Round 3 Pick 19: Carlos Hyde, RB, Ohio State (A) Round 4 Pick 6: Kenny Ladler, FS, Vanderbilt (A) Round 4 Pick 27: Jimmie Ward, SS, Northern Illinois (A) Round 5 Pick 5: Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska (A-) Round 5 Pick 14 (NYJ): Jaylen Watkins, CB, Florida (B) Round 6 Pick 4: Josh Huff, WR, Oregon (A) Round 6 Pick 11 (NYG): Terrance West, RB, Towson (A) Round 7 Pick 4 (OAK): Chris Boswell, K, Rice (A) Round 7 Pick 29 (N.E.): Corey Linsley, C, Ohio State (A)

I think the FO should read this section.
Never draft based on poster's opinion only, but i'm sure a fan/fans from this board would make ONE good pick, even if its seventh round...it's clear that guys put a lot of thought into this. Mostly top notch too.
In the same way that hackers do with code, they would bring a different perspective to the process. A breath of fresh air.

Thanks for the web link TD. I am by no means any kind of draft guru, but based on the simulator not allowing for trades, I based all of my picks on BPA first (compared it to the NFL draft projection page) and need second.
Here is what I came away with;

Not sure that this adequately addresses out offense, but I think it gives us an equally scary defense that will match what Seattle fielded last year. With both Bridgewater and Bortles gone, I just do not see Manziel equating to the value of Clowney. I also think that the QB position can be developed without having to spend big money or reach for one in the first. I like what I saw in Garo and think he could easily be developed, if not, we didn't over spend to find out.
Just my first run at it. What are your thoughts?

Interesting draft. I don't have the hesitation that some do about Clowney. Also assuming Manziel was there and you decided not to take him. I did something similar, passed on Manziel at 4 and traded down to accumulate 2nd rounders. The goal was to fill the holes by rounding out the D and putting play makers on the field on offense. I had Garoppolo as my must get QB if Teddy & Bortles were gone, figuring I could sit him and start Hoyer. The result was 11 players from the first 4 rounds including a starting tandem of power running backs to supercharge Shanahan's scheme. After Jimmy G, it was BPA: Round 1 Pick 9 (BUF): Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M (A-) Round 1 Pick 27 (N.O.): Jason Verrett, CB, TCU (B) Round 2 Pick 3: Ed Reynolds, FS, Stanford (B) Round 2 Pick 8 (MINN): Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech (A) Round 2 Pick 9 (BUF): Xavier Su'a-Filo, OG, UCLA (A-) Round 2 Pick 26 (N.O.): Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State (B) Round 3 Pick 4 (ATL): Yawin Smallwood, ILB, Connecticut (B) Round 3 Pick 7: Chris Borland, ILB, Wisconsin (B) Round 3 Pick 19: Carlos Hyde, RB, Ohio State (A) Round 4 Pick 6: Jimmie Ward, SS, Northern Illinois (A-) Round 4 Pick 27: Jeremy Hill, RB, LSU (A) Round 5 Pick 5: Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Eastern Illinois (A) Round 6 Pick 4: Ross Cockrell, CB, Duke (A-) Round 7 Pick 3: Jordan Tripp, OLB, Montana (A) I would absolutely love this draft.

Nice, did you use the NFL mock draft site? That is the only one I know that lets you trade up/down, the one I used is the fanspeak site that does not give you the same option. Which is good because I got carried away with trade backs and ended up with something like no first rd picks but 5 2nd's, 10 3rd's, and a dozen 4-7th rd pks each. Completely unrealistic and just wanted to see how many draft picks the program would give me. It was fun though to have 30+ diamonds in the rough to see what would fall out. it's all in the name of fun right?
Hears to hoping Dorsey is the Browns Ozzie Newsome.

lol... I've been using first-pick.com let's you trade up and down. Some of the rankings are different than say CBS, but they're close enough.

Shocked if Hyde is there at 102 , and after going back and watching some tape on Yankey , not sure I would take him before the third ..
