Too bad it was for this Hope these punks get what's coming to em!! Link was found on CNN page Gay Teen Attacked By Fellow High School Students Centennial High School Student Must Undergo Surgery For Wounds PUEBLO, Colo. -- An openly gay high school student in Pueblo was assaulted by six of his fellow students last week because of his sexual orientation, his family said Tuesday. The attack happened last Thursday while the 15-year-old boy was walking home from Centennial High School, his mother, Theresa Ornelas, said. Anthony Hergesheimer was alone when a vehicle with six teenagers inside passed him four times along Denver Boulevard. The vehicle finally stopped and someone threw objects at him and shouted derogatory insults at him, Ornelas said. "One of the boys got out and he hit me on my eye, right on my face with a full can of Lysol," Hergesheimer said. "My nose just started gushing everywhere." Hergesheimer said he ran to a nearby house for help. He suffered a black eye, severe damage to his face and a broken nose. He must undergo surgery on his nose and forehead Wednesday, Ornelas said. Hergesheimer said he was attacked because he is openly gay. "I'm very upset. Yeah, my son is gay. But that shouldn't matter. He should be proud of who he is," Ornelas said. "It's frustrating. We can get mad, (but) at the end, they will get what they deserve," said Hergesheimer's stepfather Michael Ornelas. Hergesheimer said taunting began at school earlier in the day. "They said things to me like, 'You, fag, this and you, fag, that,' and then they walked off," he said. Ornelas said her son had also received a threatening e-mail prior to the attack. "We are looking into it. It's an assault that we are calling a hate crime," said deputy chief John Ereul of the Pueblo Police Department. Three of the six suspects have been interviewed and all three admitted to the crime, police said. Police said because of the seriousness of the case, felony charges could be filed. The school district was alerted to the incident and conducted its own investigation. The Pueblo City Schools then suspended the six students in question. "Students are considered in the jurisdiction or care of the district en route to or form school until they cross their front door," said district spokesman Greg Sinn. "Given the level of violence involved and apparently being a bias-motivated crime, Pueblo City Schools is taking this matter very seriously. The findings of our investigation may be result in a recommendation of expulsion for all six suspects." The school district has 25 days to make a recommendation to the superintendent and conduct hearings in cases of expulsion. It is likely that the six suspects will be placed on extended suspension pending the outcome of the investigation. Hergesheimer said he will return to school next week, and he said he feels confident that the majority of his classmates will accept him. "You shouldn't be afraid to be who you are. Of course there will be people who won't agree with you," he said. "But you shouldn't be scared to be who you are." "You can't sit and cry about it. It's not going to change what happened to him," Theresa Ornelas said. "He has no choice but to move forward. And if his story can help someone else, then so be it. That's all I want from this."

Kids will be kids... and that's usually a bad thing. Nothing about this is good but it could have been worse. It sounds like he was only assulted by one of the six kids. It could have been much worse.

If I was him I would single out the ringleader, and sucker the guy the next time I seen him in school.that would send the group a meassage that you aren't playing around and will stick up for yourself. when I was in high school, this one kid kept taking the chairs at the lunch table so I would have no where to sit. I got so fed up one day, I suckered him right in his eye. he cried like a baby, and I took my 3 day suspension without any complaints. the kids in the lunch room went crazy when I threw my punch. there was no better feeling getting that off my chest, and to put a little hurting on the culprit. I was very proud of my actions that day.

Although, I agree with your sentiment, take down the ring leader... Sucker punching is for cowards.

Not as bad as the stabbing death that happened behind me a few months ago at the high school. I couldn't even get home that day cuz the feeder road which is where my apartment entrance is on was jam packed with parents cars, cops, and news media.

That worked 10+ years ago. But now a days it just means he and his 5 friends will wait for you somewhere and all gang up on you. The MOB mentality is instilled in these kids these days, very seldom are fights 1 on 1 anymore.

Picking on someone because you know you can beat them up is for cowards too. If you pick on somebody you should expect they are coming at you so it shouldnt be considered a sucker punch. If someone was messing with me and I didnt think i could square up and whoop them I am going to try to get the advantage on them anyway I can and getting the first shot in is a good way to do it. tey sure wont pick on me again after I crack them across the back with a chair.

Yeah, since I'm kind of short in stature, or I used to be, I got picked on a lot. And yes, pretty soon you do get fed up and want to swing. It was just my luck the kid that was my bully was also an amatuer boxer also.
But anyway, one day out on recess he kept picking on me and trying to chase me so I turned around and punched him in the stomuch and he went down like a sack of bricks. Needless to say he didn't mess with me after that, but my point is, why can't we all just get along. Seriously, I had never done anything to that damn kid in my entire life, and he just picked me, WTF.

Oh no. These goons already assaulted him and are marked by the law and the media. If I were him, I'd sucker punch them each time one of them looked at me cross eyed and then claim harassment. Start with the leader and cut the head off the snake. The goons layed down the ground rules for this game.

I grew up a runt. While most of the guys were entering 9th grade 5' 8" to 6', 120 to 160 pounds, I started high school 5' 4" 98 pounds. After a "growth spurt" the summer before. At a rural school where football is king, I took a lot of hell for my size. I grew up having to fight kids bigger than me because everyone was bigger. My parents taught me early on that at my size, fighting isn't fair. They gave me permission to use an "equalizer" be it a stick, brick, bat, rock, or sucker punch. As long as I kept my shots below the neck, I had permission to let those kids aiming ill will at me have it. I tried not to fight at school because I didn't want to get suspended. So I openly invited a couple of bullies to meet me after school. They never showed which I made sure was known around school the next day. Another time on the play ground my Louisville Slugger layed nicely across Terry Wagner's shins . He never came back for more. I beaned a kid coming at me once with a rock I had picked up. Hit him just above his groin. He stopped in his tracks. Thankfully I only had to physically defend myself a couple of times. I learned to use words to verbally cut those around me down to size. A skill I carry with me to this day. Bullies don't like to be made to look as stupid as they typically are in front of crowds. I left my senior year 6'1" 135. Seventeen years later I'm still a rail, 6'2" 148. Thankfully life moves on, bullies pump gas for a living, and most of the nerds, runts and wierdos go on to bigger things.

I'm short and was pretty small in school as well, but luckily I never had a problem.

I wasn't a bully, and I didn't get picked on either, but I will say this - 3 three times in my life I fought, the fight didn't last long. (and that's not cause I such a great fighter, trust me) Each time I was punched first. And it hurt!!! Me, and the guys fist that punched me. And each time, I punched back. And it hurt!
So, when I got hit, my face hurt and the guys hand hurt, and when I punched back, his face hurt, and my hand hurt. Maybe I was lucky and fought someone as smart as me, I don't know, but each time, each of us, after one punch each, decided that fighting was for people tougher than us.
Trust me - it hurts. (I had a cast on my arm for 6 weeks for what the doc. called a "boxers" fracture the one time - broke one of the bones going from my knuckle to my wrist).
Fighting is bad.

I've always wondered how bad your hand would hurt if you punched someone in the face. Is there anything comparable to it?
But I guess your adrenaline kicks in and you just go for it,

I was suckered in the face when I wasn't ready for it and got my nose broke. Wrong place, wrong time. Wrong person actually, I think he thought I was someone else. Anyways, yeah, it knocked me on my ass and hurt like hell. I wouldn't recommend it.

I had to have surgery on my hand twice from breaking two separate times fighting.
In High School, one thing we used to do is have keg parties at my buddy's house and we'd put down some wrestling mats in his garage and hold boxing matches. But really they were just bloodsports where drunken, coked out kids would wail the hell out of one another.
Funniest thing, this kids parents often refereed the matches. But things still got absolutely crazy. We'd draw up matches that would be held in advance and that would be part of the reason to attend.
We never had a lot of fights in our school, beccause we would fight for fun.

Actually it depends. If your adrenaline kicks in before you hit the person it doesn't hurt much until afterwards.

All I can tell you is when I got hit, my face hurt enough that I didn't want to fight, but I thought - hell, he hit me, I'm hitting him. After I hit him, my hand hurt enough, and so did his hand and face, that we called it quits.
Look at your hand - the top side. Now, imagine the bone that runs from your pinky finger knuckle to your wrist being bent up approximately 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches.........
First of all, it doesn't look right, secondly, it doesn't feel good, and thirdly, you don't need a doctor or x rays to tell you it's broken.

Easy fix. The kid that did the assault gets put in a jail cell shower with a big man named Bubba who will never see a woman again in his life. Guards leave, doors lock. Kid gets out of jail the next day. Guaranteed he doesn't say anything ever again.
