I really like those colors. Drop the numbers on the side and you really have something.

Yeah, I don't like the numbers on the helmet ...... but I kinda like the colors as a nice modern take on tradition.

I don't really care, I guess I like the metallic look.
We said we aren't messing with the helmet. I don't think that means it won't change some. I take it to mean no logo will appear. The one you guys like is pretty cool as well. Almost looks like we are wearing leather helmets.

Every team I can think of has changed their jerseys and helmets significantly. Imagine if the Pats still had to wear their ridiculous 90's jerseys.
Packers? Bears? Steelers? Although I find it funny that if you're winning that everyone considers the "old" look retro, stylish and a nod to the old-school. But if you're losing, then you're out-dated.
I always felt they could go one of two different ways for a uniform change that wouldn't be a complete bastardization of things. One, you could go to all-white pants/jerseys/helmets, like the original 1940's teams and REALLY go retro ... or they could just modernize the current design by making the current colors darker/metallic and using the sleeker striping patterns that they do for the Broncos and Titans, but with the same colors as now.

Clearly the Packers, Bears, and Steelers owe their consistent success to their stylish uniform decisions I can't help but notice that a lot of massive successes seem to be preceeded or intermixed by uniform changes. 1999 Rams, Pats, late 90's Buccaneers, and the modern Seahawks. It could be they made the switch after the team was noticably good to increase sales...but in any event my main logical argument is "I don't like the color scheme of the browns jerseys currently". I like the crap like seahawks and oregon ducks jerseys so there may be no hope left for me

New uniforms change nothing but sales for the Browns. It doesn't make players, coaches, decisions or the FO any better.
As a fan myself, I'll buy more Browns gear when they offer a better product. Be that the old look or a new one.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I've never bought much browns gear. The losing doesn't help, I don't like the colors. The brown is terrible, and the orange isn't that far behind. A jersey runs $80, if I'm going to spend that much, I at least want to like the style.
I really hope Haslem changes the colors all together. Know that is a long shot, but the browns are in Baltimore. I'm a firm believer that we should've left the colors, name, and started with something fresh in 99. Most things in life aren't forever, never understood why we were so hell bent on keeping something that left town.

+1
The orange is a hideous color to wear, and the brown in Florida is just heat exhaustion waiting to happen. So I stick with the white and grey t-shirts with Browns logos and such. I have a couple of jerseys, but they are just too hot to wear pretty much any time of the year here.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

Dark Browns with the metallic lid for home. Maybe a gray theme with orange trim as our aways.
Keep a traditional for certain occasions

I love the colors... but then I don't wear sports gear to match anything. I like the Brown and orange because you can see it from across the street or the bar or the store and on somebody and even if you can't read it, you have a decent idea of what it is...

I love orange, just wish that we didn't use such a glow in the dark. I'd prefer if we went with an orange more like the Texas Longhorns than the orange used by the Tennessee Volunteeers.

exactly. when I'm wearing my dark brown cap w/ the bright orange helmet on it, there's not doubt what it is no matter how far away you might be.

I'd say keep one color the same and change another. I vote keep our orange pantone code and make the brown an even darker, almost black shade.
Denver darkened their blue with the 90s color swap but I believe they kept their orange shade.

I saw this on a joke site ... but this is pretty much how I'd like the a new Browns helmet to look: Metallic Orange, with something creative for the stripe pattern. Not necessarily what they have here, but something a little more modern. Possibly similar to the Denver Bronco stripes, but with White and Brown.

There are some nice elements there.
I definitely would like a metallic color as our base on the helmet. I think that I would prefer a darker color than that though.

As crazy as it sounds, at this point I might be upset if they KEEP the helmet the way it is...
Even if you keep the same stripe pattern, the metallic look is THE way to go.. So purty...
Are they just going to keep us in the dark all year on this?
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I don't know. Someone said it won't happen until 2015, if it happens at all.
They actually might be monitoring this thread. They are probably conducting surveys as to which colors and styles are most appealing in sample groups.
Like you, I am pretty excited about it and I typically don't care about stuff like that. LOL I just think it is time for a change and I really do hate our shade of orange. I really did think there would be more complaining about this proposed change, though.

How so? It keeps the same colors. It stays minimalistic. It avoids a stupid looking logo. Yet it still looks sleek and modern. To appease both the "we need to update ourselves out of the 60's" and the "we need to stay traditional" crowds ... I think something like that would be the best way to go.

I dunno ...... I really don't get those who want to keep the uniforms the same. I am all for updates. I don't want to completely change them ....... I don't want completely different colors ....... but I do want updates. These uniforms have become associated with losing. I don't think that changing uniforms is a cure all ...... but I do think that it helps change the mindset of a team, and mentally the players think "We're not the same old Browns".

All jokes aside, I've been a staunch traditionalist for as long as I've been a Browns fan.
Even so, I've pretty much embraced every re-branding and 'update' change that My Own Bunch has tried in the last 20+ years. The difference between the two: we've actually improved over the past 20+ years. We're smarter, hipper... and just plain better at what we do- and it had nothing to do with re-packaging ourselves. We simply became a better unit- with better on-field leadership, higher standards, and a team-wide commitment to make ourselves better. Can My Favorite Football Team actually say that- with a straight face?
When I got my job, we were regarded as being just barely outside of the ranks of 'Community Orchestra.' 2 years ago, we smoked NYC in Carnegie Hall... and blasted out a concert that launched an entire annual festival. To date, We and the Oregon Symph are regarded as the "gold standard" for what others aspire to in this event. We helped to set the standard- on a worldwide stage.
THAT'S a "Super Bowl Legacy" in my profession, folks.

Metallic helmets? Go for it. Updated stripes/uni treatment? No Probs with me.
Here's the deal, for me: even if we go with wholesale changes to 'the look,' it can't make the on-field product any worse than we're used to seeing.
If I'm going to watch the 'same old Browns' for the next 2-3 years, I'll at least get to see them in new wrapping paper.
I still won't buy the product they've 'gift-wrapped' until they start winning- but I'll at least get to see them lose with a new look...
Wrap it up in any package you want- I won't get enthusiastic about this bunch until they win at least as many games as they lose, season to season. Consistently.
I can't be made to care about this issue until the product becomes 'watch-worthy."
Until then, it's all just packaging and marketing.
Give me a product that is watch-worthy, and I'll scream to the high heavens.
I don't care about all the rest.
Change anything you want, regarding uniforms and 'updates.' Just give me players who win games. I'll rock a metallic-looking baseball cap with pink feathers, if you can do that. The rest will sort itself out, IMHO.
