The way we've been playing the last few years, I think the doberhuahua is more appropriate.

Man, that dog creeps me out.

Well, if you feel the need to bring logic into the conversation ....

This is a good point, and should be more obvious. No, new uniforms will not make us winners. But not making any changes to the uniforms won't do it either.

I am good with some changes. I like the metallic look, and I am more than OK with toning down the orange. And I agree that we need not introduce gray, which is why I want white face masks ... I think they look better with our color scheme.

I thought I'd hate the all-brown unis, but they really didn't bother me at all. In fact, I thought they had 'promise.'

I wouldnt mind seeing some sort of continuous striping down the sides, unifying pants & jerseys... but just not the straight "bars" we have now. I could get with a Denver-esque 'slash' motif.

Thee other treatment: all-white unis with the same striping treatment.

Italicize the numbers- that would be ok with me, as well.

Clean, sleek and uncluttered... home and away. NO ORANGE JERSEYS! we're the Cleveland Browns... not the Cleveland citrus spheres!

That, plus a darkened metallic helmet would be enough of a update without losing some of the old. Like another poster mentioned earlier: PLEEEEZE don't make us look like Oregon!

LOL.........classic.

Let me ask you guys something. How many items of clothing do you have that are the color orange and not related to the Browns? Orange shirts? Sweaters? Pants? Ewwww

Anyone have orange walls? Orange drapes? Orange counter tops? Orange carpet?

Just wondering.

I think orange is a great color for fruit, but hideous on clothing.

I have a few orange shirts. T shirts, long sleeve Ts. Darker, earthier orange, but orange. I have an orange, again earthier orange, accent wall in my family room. Along with two similar shade arm chairs. Some of my furniture is mid century modern teak. An orangey colored wood.
My general taste in colors falls toward earth tones. Greens, browns (beige), orange, and natural wood tones.

Why would any of that matter?

And for the record, orange and lime green were hot colors in the 70's. They've now gone by the wayside - but they'll return. (orange countertops, etc)

Just like straight legged jeans were hot, then boot cut, ........loose jeans, now skin tight jeans. Fashions come and go - but one thing you can rest assured of: what once was hot, then fell out of favor, will be hot again.

And who cares anyway? What does that have to do with the Browns?

Not really. But I don't own one.

I'm not against change. My hope is it updates the look while paying homage to the past. A slight tone change in my mind does this. Adding a logo, not so much.

The Vikings just released an updated uniform.

Linkypoo

I gotta say, I don't see much of a difference (and I see them twice a year here in Chicago). I hope we don't unveil a uniform change that is like this.

Exactly, I said the same thing. The stripes are different, but how? I had to load up last years to really compare. I hope they didn't spend much time and money on that "big" update.

IMO, if you're going to change your uni's, go all out. Or at least enough that your average NFL fan could pick it up right away.

I want to say we made a similar change 5-7 years ago. We flipped the stripes on our socks or something (and brought back gray face masks). So subtle that most probably didn't even notice.

I think that a huge problem with uniform designs is that it's difficult to have a design that looks new and cutting edge without looking tacky and gaudy.

Man, I still like that one helmet design that is the metallic brown with the darker orange. I think that I would like a uniform based off of that.

I would have to say very few.

However I own very few clothes that are not Cleveland Browns clothes. My shoes, shoe laces, socks, belts, hats, and coats are all Cleveland Browns. 95 percent of the shirts I own are Cleveland Browns. My watches and my wallet are Cleveland Browns. It's Brown, Orange, and white every where in my closet.

Browns unveiling “cutting-edge” uniforms next year

Posted by Mike Florio on March 4, 2014, 3:31 PM EST

It’s been known for a year that the Browns will unveil new uniforms next year.  Beyond owner Jimmy Haslam explaining that the helmets won’t change, details have been scant.

On Tuesday, Browns president Alec Scheiner provided an update on the process, which will culminate on the sheet being pulled off the new uniforms right before the 2015 draft.

“We’ll have cutting-edge uniforms that link back to our history,” Scheiner told Bull & Fox of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland on Tuesday.  “I’m really excited about our direction.  We’ve been working with the NFL and Nike for almost a year now.  We have another year until we roll out our uniforms.  I’d be very surprised if our fans don’t love our new-look uniforms.”

The Browns will become at least the sixth team to undergo a significant redesign since the NFL partnered with Nike in 2012.  Two of the new uniforms (Jaguars and Buccaneers) are not attractive.  The Seahawks’ uniforms looked iffy at first; stellar play since the helmets, jerseys, and pants were unveiled has caused most to warm up to the duds.  The Vikings’ new uniforms amounted to an upgrade, notwithstanding the too-trendy matte finish on the helmet and the unconventional numbers.  The Dolphins’ had a dramatic logo overhaul as part of a more subtle shift in the overall uniform.

If the Browns plan to link back to their history, there’s not much of a uniform history to link back to.  When the team was initially founded, the numbers had a shadowing effect, which was trendy about 20 years ago — and which could mean it’s time for it to become trendy again.  The uniform hasn’t changed that much since then, with periodic orange pants and brown pants and at one point an ill-advised orange jersey.

In the interim, Browns fans who have set aside the funds to buy a new jersey in 2014 may want to wait to make the purchase until next year.

For Browns fans, waiting until next year has pretty much become a way of life.

I'm going to be really disappointed if the Helmet stays EXACTLY the same.

I mean, orange, brown and white stripes, no logo.. etc yes.

But you can't overhaul the jersey and pants. Possibly changing shades, and keep the current shades on the helmet..

I love the metallic orange helmet that was floating around. Its purty.

I have a Browns room (my man cave) with the walls painted orange and the helmet stripe running horizontally through the middle on all walls. All of my autographed items are setting on top of brown "floating" shelves. It looks glorious.

I like the idea of an all brown uniform, including the helmet. Just reverse the brown and orange on the current helmet and make the facemask brown as well. I think that'd look good.

It might make opponents lose sight of the game and become obsessively hungry, allowing our players to gain a mental advantage during an undefeated season and super bowl championship.

It could work.

I'm disappointed they are not changing the helmets. I don't really want a logo, but man, that shade of orange is hideous and makes look like pumpkin heads.

part of the contractual agreement haslam made when he purchased the team was that he was not allowed to touch the helmets.

there was one blurb we read about when the team was sold that Haslam had to comply with four things and one of them was not touching the helmets. I know the other was moving the team, no cheerleaders (passed down from Al Lerner) the 4th one is unknown. (my guess is first right of refusal to purchase the team with Lerner)

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2012/07/randy_lerner_close_to_selling.html

"[Lerner] has an unequivocal commitment from Haslam to never move the Browns," said Fred Nance, a senior advisor to Lerner. "He made that a prerequisite before entering into negotiations." Nance added that Haslam "provided the commitment without hesitation."

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8847186/cleveland-browns-home-now-named-firstenergy-stadium

But cheerleaders to entertain the blue-collar crowd are out and, anticipating a question, so are changes in the orange helmets, a fan favorite, Haslam said.

http://espncleveland.com/common/more.php?m=49&action=blog&r=17&post_id=12701

idk if that includes changing the color... but I do know we can't do logos

Some interesting NFL Concepts

A designer took a run at the NFL uniforms, his main message?

Less is more.

I like a lot of them, like the Rams going back to yellow, but mostly he just cleaned up uniforms...

Only looked at the Browns uniforms. Overall I like them. A lot. Not sure about the helmet stripe being that wide. Also, I would do something with socks.

Browns, Texans, Panthers (minus 1-side # on helmet), Falcons (minus all-red), Chargers, and hate to admit it but Ravens are nice

Surprisingly love the Washington Redskins one. If you would have told me the concept I would have expected to hate them.

hated Eagles, Saints, Jets
