I could get on board with a 10lb *quality* weight gain. I think in time he could gain more than that but let's say 10lb for now. The thing is that 10 pounds of good weight (i.e. majority being muscle) takes a lot of time and hard work. I hope Mingo is up to it.
Also separating the physiology and psychology is a mistake. That is to say, I think a bigger, stronger Mingo is more tenacious and aggressive and just a nastier player in general. That isn't a hard and fast rule by any means, more of an observation from watching way too much football over the years.

I'm giving him another season, hopefully one without a lung or any other health issue, before I start to seriously question the high pick selection/worth. I think there is upside there to improve a great deal, and we as fans need to bank on that this staff (defensive minded staff) can find a way to help Mingo reach his upside. We've all seen the "flashes" and etc, but we've also all seen some negatives.

I do too if that's what the team expects him to do.

I won't totally dismiss that. But I'm of the firm opinion that a player at his position has to have somewhat of an aggressive playing style within his mind set. I understand he's new to the NFL, but such players have spent their life playing the game.
We see players like Haden laying the wood and he's not very big at his position. Ten pounds may add something there. But I believe it has more to do with a mind set than a weight per say.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
I mean tell me its highly unlikely - Tell me it is not probable - I can say okay.
You know sometimes you shoot for certain areas but are happy with the 257 instead.
But Impossible...I'll stop there cause I'll get the crew telling me how ridiculous I am and if I start making sense will be called condescending. But don't tell me what I've seen more than once in weight gain --- Its possible. Am I exact to the lb.? no maybe 4 lbs a leg and 10 upper body??? We just saw a post...maybe or maybe not accurate about Clay Matthews gaining 17 lbs in ONE year...I stated two years.
your weight gain prognosis is much more accurate. And your comment about him NEVER GOING TO BE GOOD AGAINST the run comes with much deep thought and validation. What was I thinking. My Bad.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!
Anything that helps a blocker, or rusher, understand and develop leverage, explosion, and balance, is a positive step forward. If it also increases flexibility and agility, even better. This type of program seems to have it all.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

My opinion of last years draft class wasn't very high ( pretty much sucked ) .. My approach would have been to trade down for additional ( High , round one and two ) draft picks in this years draft ..
Quote: Don't get me wrong , I like Mingo ; but he was a reach at # 6 ...
So, who would you have drafted instead? Be honest.
Our number one need after last year was an edge rusher. Almost an universal opinion. Many had us taking Dion Jordan. Some had us taking Ansah. Both were gone before we picked and Mingo's numbers stack up well against both of those guys.
Would you have taken a guard at six? How many guards in the history of the NFL draft were drafted at 6 or higher? Bet this doesn't get answered by anyone.
Would you have taken a QB? Which one?
I wanted Dee Milliner? That is the guy I wanted. He was worse than Mingo.
Would you really have taken T. Austin?
That draft sucked eggs.
Does Mingo need to improve? You bet he does. Was he a bad pick. Way too early to see and I saw flashes of a real pass rusher. I don't think it was a reach at all.

That makes sense, but who was in that draft that other teams coveted? It takes two.

Semantics and splitting hairs? Already?
Allow me to rephrase...Your belief that Mingo will be able to put on 25 pounds of muscle is, in my opinion, one Helluva a reach bordering on the impossible.
It's my opinion that the only way he packs 25 pounds onto that frame is with the same help Shawne Merriman and David Boston got.
Senior Gopher, I could get on board with at least a hope that Mingo could gain 10 pounds...even if a little of that stemmed from nightly visits to Burger King to try and break the world record for Whoppers eaten in a week...but I would argue that said weight wouldn't make too much of a difference for him, as it's his desire I question.
Would 10 pounds make a mental difference with him? Possible, but I gotta see more "want" outa him, as speed and quickness can only get you so far.
He doesn't have to become a star this upcoming season, but he does have serious room for improvement, and so he should improve considering how far he has to go.
Here's how this will go...we'll hear how hard he's been working. We'll hear how he looks in great shape. We'll hear how his quickness and speed are outstanding in camp. It'll all be nothing but roses...and none of that will matter once he ball is snapped because his drive and desire will dictate how good of a player he is.
I'm hoping, but not optimistic.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***
You are correct, Senior ( ), that this won't be nearly the end of the story. We've got enough time...too much time, actually...to fill so his story about gaining weight is going to be a focal point.
I hope I'm very wrong in this because the dude really needs to put on some serious weight and with the way he's built, it'll take all the help that modern science can give him.

Any of the scenarios in your link seem like they would have been a no brainer. Trading down was always the best option for us last year. Banner blew it.
I think it is too early to say if he was a reach or not. I think that it was a weak draft. I think there weren't great players at the top of the draft. I think that Banner might have made that comment up.
Let me ask you this..................who would the nameless team have drafted w/the sixth overall pick. Which great player was available? Hell, how many great players were available in that draft.
But, I guess I was wrong for debating that Mingo was a huge reach. You do remember that is where this all started, right?
Oh....and Otto. You never fail to disappoint. Your football talk is always so stimulating.
I would have moved down for Kenny Vaccaro...he actually performed very well and had votes for Defensive Rookie of the year...and that secondary performed so much better with him...
