Its rather simple Spiral - its a freaking message board. If we don't DISCUSS these things as fans just close up the board or just have a general topic talking about everything but the Browns. Its just expressing Opinion.
Opinions Yep, that's what makes this a freaking message board. Changng history with opinions that have nothing to do with the facts ...Continue.

I think 2010 n 2011 were probably the two best back to back Drafts we ever had...it gave us a young foundation to build on along with Joe T, Mack, Rubin and DQ who were here.
Without a doubt the biggest problem this new Change/Regime/Era whatever you want to call it is to get the Players on board as "THE FOUNDATION" of youth has seen now its 3rd Regime. The overall consensus after the Chud firing was one of disgust in the beboot. I do like Pettine for that fact as I think he is very capable at that task. It was the one major thing I didn't like about McDaniels especially with now what I know is a none conducive environment by Banner and Lombardi all going in different directions.
But that will be the key right now...Step one get the players back on board. If not we could see a lot of movement over the next few seasons.

Socializing on an internet message board and having a fun conversation, what a completely asinine idea. Next thing you will be telling me that people will be pretending to be teams GMs and predicting the draft based on what little knowledge they have!

Phil is rarely double teamed. He has been a disappointment if you really watch the games. He started off great this past year and I was eating my words, but he soon fell back to his I disciplined, lazy, unproductive ways..
It galls me how people slam Mingo and act like Phil is so great. BS!!

Mingo was not very good his last year of college and he didn't do much this year. He got pressure a few times but got destroyed in the run game a few times.

It will be interesting to see how Mingo fares against Milliner, Cooper, Warmack, and Jarvis Jones over the next few seasons.
I don't really think drafting a rushing OLB who isn't lights out in college is a very wise decision before the 2nd/3rd round. We already have Mingo so there isn't much I can do about it, but ideally I'd rather not have him. Would I rather have a guard in the first? Not especially. 2013 kind of stunk for finding typical value players at the top.

I never said Mingo was a beast cause he surely wasn't. But we will need to agree to disagree about our views on Phil. I love the man and when I watch him, he beasts it... but to be honest, with the offense being total epic failure - I think the defense as a whole took some plays off around the end/late stretch of the season there.

You aren't alone in that thinking about the D taking plays off at the end of the season. it had to be tough to constantly keep teams down only to have your O run flat... Depressing.

Better hope YTown doesn't read this. He'll be explaining soon how the notion that defensive players could be psychologically affected by a pathetic offensive performance has absolutely nothing to do with how the defense played.

Yep. We had leads at the half of many of our games, that turned into ties or deficits the first opponent drive of the 2nd half.
Damn that offense anyway. If only they had had a better halftime performance ......
I'm not saying that there isn't some symmetry between the 2 sides of the ball ...... but people used that excuse way too much last year.
Did the offense give up 2 scores to lose the NE game? Did the offense allow Jacksonville ...... think about that ...Jacksonville ..... to drive the field for the win? Damn that offense for scoring too fast anyway.
In the Bears game, we held a 24-17 lead at the start of the 4th quarter. Then that damn offense of ours let the Bears go on drives of 6 plays/95 yards, 6 plays, 36 yards, and 5 plays, 78 yards. How could the offense do that? Why? That damn offense of ours gave up scoring plays of 45 yards (TD pass to Jeffery) and 40 yards (TD run by Michael Bush) Darn that offense anyway!
Look, the offense wasn't perfect, or really even all that good last year .... In fact, the team in general did a Keystone Cops bit too often last year, especially as in the game at Cincinnati where we gave up the game in the 2nd quarter with breakdown after breakdown after breakdown on offense and special teams. The offense was especially abysmal in the 1st 2 games of the season last year, when we were without Josh Gordon. The 1st Steelers game was a horrific offensive display.I am not going to pretend that the offense was good last year, but let's not pretend that the defense were helpless victims. They also had a job to do, and all too often they failed, and cost us games.
Ah crap .... looks like Mr Snide managed to draw me into this debate again. However, I cannot believe that anyone who watched the games last year can pretend that the defense played well in the 2nd half of last season. They simply did not, and they cost us at least 2 wins last year.

While I like Phil Taylor and Jabaal Sheard I was, and still am salty about trading down and not drafting Julio Jones. We had absolutely no weapons on offense and instead of adding a pro-bowl caliber receiver to give McCoy (our starter at the time) a real weapon to throw to we traded down and took some defensive lineman.
Sheard, Taylor, Skrine and Cameron obviously have worked out for the better for us.
I was so glad to see Marecic get cut as that kid had no business playing fullback.
Greg Little can also get cut for all I care, he isn't a real NFL receiver and to me he's been no better than Robiskie, Stuckey or Massaqqoui.
