Related to the subject at hand, but a conspiracy theory: Putin Targets America’s Achilles Heel: “He’s Going to Destroy the Stock Markets” http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/pu...arkets_03052014Mac Slavo March 5th, 2014 SHTFplan.com Comments (393) Read by 39,253 people In 2012 an elite insider claimed that on or around March 4, 2014 the doomsday clock would ring, the effect of which would be a complete collapse of the U.S. economy. How former Vice Presidential adviser Grady Means came to this conclusion with a specific target date may forever remain clouded in secrecy. But given the state of current affairs around the world today, one can’t help but consider that maybe Grady Means was on to something. With the fight over political and resource control in the Ukraine heating up, is it possible the Means was referring to this very set of circumstances? We know the U.S. economy is literally on the brink of a collapse. All we need now is a triggering mechanism. Contrarian investor and commentator Greg Mannarino thinks it could be happening right now, and he explains his highly viable theory in the broadcast below. In essence, Mannarino warns that Russia’s Vladimir Putin may be using the current geo-political climate to position his pieces on the grand chessboard with the end game being a total wipe out of domestic equity markets and the U.S. dollar itself . Given the horrid economic fundamentals in the U.S., mounting and un-serviceable debt levels, and the fact that China is now moving lock-step with their Russian counterparts, could we be seeing the final stages of a coordinated strike on U.S. economic and financial interests? A few more moves and it could be Checkmate: Putin understands the Achilles heel is this hyperinflated stock market… this man is brilliant. Since we realize all warfare is based on deception, this backing off of troops here is a part of the play. When he re-introduces those troops and makes his move here it’s going to crush the U.S. equity markets and take trillions of dollars out of this market and a lot of peoples’ pockets. Vladimir Putin is not in any way going to back down to Barack Obama or any of the Western powers. He has no reason to do that. He understands where this going and what he needs to do to make this work here. So this is the set up in my opinion. He’s allowing cash to flow back into the world markets, more specifically into the U.S. equity market. He’s going to re-introduce his troops almost in a Blitzkrieg type fashion and he’s going to destroy the stock markets. We also know this… Vladimir Putin has been betting against the U.S. dollar for years by acquiring gold, just like you should be doing. … The debt of the United States is in the biggest bubble in the history of the world. He knows all this. This relief rally here… I can’t imagine that it’s going to last because he’s going to re-introduce troops here. It’s going to destroy this relief rally and then some. We’re going to get panic selling… I think it can happen pretty soon. … Vladimir Putin is pulling a huge bluff on everyone right now allowing equities on a global scale to rise, only to reverse this move and crush equity markets which will destroy the United States economy. The wealth effect that the Fed has created… Vladimir Putin knows that it is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. And he’s going to take advantage of that. Make no mistake. Vladimir Putin strives to make Russia a global super power. China wants the same. In order for that to happen the United States of America must be crushed, and that starts with destroying our economy. And if that means a temporary destruction of global equity markets then that’s what Russia and China will do. Unlike President Obama, who bases his decisions on political surveys and half baked short-term platitudes, these nations operate with stratagems spanning decades. For all we know, it was Putin himself who orchestrated the Ukranian coup. He’s a former KGB operative, a brilliant strategist and he comes from the ‘old school’ of Russian thought. Every move is carefully calculated and executed. While President Obama plays checkers, Putin is executing a Réti Maneuver designed to confuse and frustrate his opponent while leaving multiple pathways for the fait accompli. The majority of informed readers understand that the collapse of America as we know it today is inevitable. It has always only been a question of “when.” Perhaps Vladimir Putin will soon give us an answer. (end)

Well, it will be leadership from vacation again, he is showing Putin who is boss.

It looks bad to the rest of the world, but I'm assuming he's not just going to be chilling at the beach drinking scotch and doing nothing about this. He's obviously going to be talking with advisors and such.

OK Here ya go.
Crisis in Crimea? Ukraine situation doesn't deter Obama from family vacation in Florida Keys
The Associated Press DARLENE SUPERVILLE, Associated Press
KEY LARGO, Fla. (AP) — The crisis in Crimea won't keep President Barack Obama from forging ahead with a weekend getaway with his wife and daughters in the Florida Keys.
But it's more than the Oval Office that will be dark as Russia's incursion into Ukraine reaches its one week mark. Vice President Joe Biden and his wife are vacationing in the Virgin Islands. And national security adviser Susan Rice is traveling in the Middle East for meetings with her counterparts.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest said "there's always a chance" Obama could cut a trip short and return to Washington, but this weekend's vacation appeared solid.
"The fact of the matter is what the president is doing this weekend in Florida is essentially what the president would be doing if he stayed back at the White House," Earnest told reporters traveling with Obama. The president, he said, was looking forward to "getting a little bit of downtime in the warm weather with his wife and daughters."
Obama's vacation at a private club on one of the islands off Florida's southern tip was tacked onto an afternoon visit by the president and his wife, Michelle, to a Miami high school to announce new Education Department initiatives to help more students complete the paperwork needed to qualify for federal financial aid or student loans.
Every president gets criticized for the amount of time he spends away from the White House, and Obama is no different.
Paul C. Light, who teaches public service at New York University, said Obama would have been wise to remain in Washington. Being in Florida with a still-fluid situation in Ukraine "makes the president look less interested in the issue than he clearly is," Light said. "It's just very bad optics."
Obama departed the White House one day after moving to levy financial sanctions and travel bans against those the U.S. accuses of threatening Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial borders. Officials in Crimea, a pro-Russian area of Ukraine, plan to hold a referendum March 16 to decide whether to become part of Russia.
Obama and Biden's decision to continue with their weekend vacation plans appeared to be an indication that the White House did not expect any quick resolution to the dispute.
The Obama family vacation comes just a few weeks after the president's long weekend at the Sunnylands estate in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
Obama had gone to Sunnylands to meet with King Abdullah II of Jordan. He stayed behind with a gaggle of childhood friends to play golf on the desert property's 9-hole course and on a private, 19-hole course elsewhere in the city that is owned by supporter Larry Ellison, co-founder of the Oracle software company and one of the richest men in America.
Obama will have plenty of opportunities to play golf this weekend, too.
He checked his family into the Ocean Reef Club, a private, by-invitation-only membership club that is more of a gated, self-contained community sprawled across 2,500 acres on the northern edge of Key Largo. The property has two championship golf courses. There's also a swimming lagoon, tennis courts, a spa and fitness center, shopping and more than a dozen restaurants among the club's varied offerings.
Obama flew by helicopter from Miami over the sun-kissed, blue waters of Florida Bay to arrive at the club's private airport. Scores of people apparently had driven their golf carts over to witness the arrival.
The Republican National Committee used Obama's vacation to draw a contrast with Americans still grappling with a sluggish economy.
"While President Obama vacations in the Florida Keys and Vice President Biden is spending his weekend in the Virgin Islands, millions of middle-class Americans are hurting from their failed economic policies," RNC chairman Reince Priebus said.
The vacation is Obama's third of the year. http://www.usnews.com/news/politics/arti...at-miami-school

I knew somehow Bush would take the rap for this, and as to who cares, you are exactly right, the lack of leadership doesn't matter anyway.

*Sigh*
You read too much into my words, Milcreek.
I wanted to point out the same complaint continually painted Bush by the left while the right defended. Now the roles reverse themselves. Nowhere did I make a judgement on the merits of taking a break during a national crisis.
Nowhere in Obama's job description does it list "play world police while Putin goes on a power trip".

I remember scads of "news" articles like these dating back to presidents Carter and Reagan (...they probably were attached to presidents Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy and Ike too- I just didn't care about the "news" back then-).
Texas ranches Martha's Vineyard Kennebunkport, ME Santa Barbara Plains, Georgia
Every POTUS gets "hammered" with vapid, pointless screeds like these. Every. Single. One.
**Y-A-W-N**
If someone wants to make something of this, I suppose they can... but it seems more like 'propaganda fodder' for ANY POTUS' detractors.
Sorry.... but this rates no more than a shoulder shrug from me. And it's not because I don't care about America or geopolitics- it's because it isn't really news.

Putin's scared of losing Crimea and he's willing to do stupid stuff. If anyone can think of something to do more than sanctions, other than sending in troops, you'd probably be a step ahead of the world.

This country has been starved for leadership for a long long time. Honestly there is always a crisis somewhere.. .an earthquake, a hurricane, an oil spill, a funny hat dictator rattling his saber, a tyrant making threats... the President can't sit at his desk 24/7 every time there is a "crisis" or he would never get up... ever.
And every time it happens, the location and activities of the President are always called into question... Not saying it isn't something to consider, let's just not be unreasonable.

Back away from the edge. You'll just have to adapt and try to lead yourself.
We've been cutting the deficit and reducing public employment. Not as many resources to lead you now that we're not increasing spending by $1 Trillion like we did last decade. Many believe that we can't lead like that any more.
Perhaps a neighbor or charity can lead you instead of the Nanny State?

Agreed, but three vacations in less than 3 months? In my best Mel Brooks' voice, "It's good to be the King." Also, Michelle will be taking grandma and the kids for over a week to China later THIS month without POTUS for who knows for how many millions of our dollars.

IMO, I think all tax payer funded vacations should be abolished and prohibited. If you wanna escape, do it on your own dollar like everyone else who busts their butt at their job and wants a vacation/break. Especially since you wish to escape so often and so many times. Or limit it heavily. Two tax payer funded vacations PER term or something, I don't know. I know I hate paying for their R&R that I don't feel they really deserved.

I agree, Dawg-LB. I'd also like to reconsider the insane amount of time-off they give themselves. Congress takes constant breaks. I think they worked like 5 days in December.
Give them 2 weeks after 1 year of service, like many American employers do.

Why is everybody trolled? It's not really clear that Russia is better with Crimea that it was without it....
There's a bit of desperation, in that Russia is very afraid of Ukraine joining NATO, and so they took a jab at it (which they have more than enough power to do).
But it's really not clear that Russia's wins outweigh their losses...

Not talking about this situation, but just in general. I think Putin bought this gigantic German Sheppard when Bush and his little dog was flying in. I guess it was to assert dominance, but it was hilarious regardless. It was also funny to hear him say that calling him "Batman" is an insult as he's far better.

I think it's been used more for Angela Merkel - who is known to be terrified of large dogs.

When she visited the Kremlin for the first time as chancellor, Putin gave her a plush toy dog as a gift. Merkel became deeply afraid of dogs after she was bitten in the mid 90s. But Putin didn't stop there. The next meeting, at his summer residence on the Black Sea, he let in his black Labrador Kony, an intimidating species. Merkel sat frozen, and pictures show Putin with a sardonic grin on his face, legs widely stretched.
